Welcome to Elderfield Cooking Guide – Recipes, Ingredients

Cooking is one of those things in Welcome to Elderfield that becomes much more useful once you start exploring dangerous areas and taking bigger risks. Food can restore your HP and MP, give you temporary bonuses, and in some cases even apply powerful Blessings that can help you survive difficult encounters.

At first, you can get by with simple recipes and whatever ingredients you happen to find while exploring. But as you progress, you’ll unlock more ingredients, meet NPCs who give you recipes, and gain access to much stronger meals. Some of the best food in the game requires ingredients from farming, fishing, monsters, and other activities, so it is worth keeping useful materials instead of immediately selling everything you find.

In this post, I’ll go through the cooking basics in Welcome to Elderfield, including the ingredients you can collect, how the Cooking Pot and Juicer work, and all the recipes currently available. If you’re wondering what ingredients to save or which meals are worth making, this guide should help you get started.

Welcome to Elderfield Cooking Guide – Recipes, Ingredients

There are two main ways to prepare food and drinks in Welcome to Elderfield: the Cooking Pot and the Juicer.

The Cooking Pot is used for most meals, including bread, soups, sandwiches, pizzas, stews, and other dishes. The Juicer, meanwhile, lets you turn ingredients into drinks that can restore HP, MP, or both.

You can use these stations at home to combine the ingredients required for each recipe. Some recipes are available from the beginning, while others need to be purchased, received as gifts, or unlocked by completing quests.

My advice is to keep ingredients in your fridge whenever possible. Several early recipes also become ingredients for stronger meals later, so cooking something immediately and consuming it can sometimes leave you needing to make it again.

Basic Cooking Ingredients

Before you start making meals, you’ll need to collect ingredients from different parts of Elderfield.

Bitter Herb

Bitter Herb restores 2 HP and is mainly used as a cooking ingredient.

You can find it through:

  • Foraging in Town
  • Town Outskirts
  • The Mall
  • The Old Woods
  • Tier 1 Garbage Loot
  • Tier 1 Loot Boxes

It sells for 4 Gold, but I would personally keep a decent supply because Bitter Herb appears in several useful recipes.

Dough

Dough cannot be eaten on its own and needs to be cooked.

You can obtain it by:

  • Processing Wheat in a Grinder or Windmill
  • Finding it in Tier 1 Loot Boxes
  • Buying it from the General Store

Dough costs 50 Gold to purchase and sells for 25 Gold.

Red Mushroom

Red Mushrooms are another common cooking ingredient that you probably shouldn’t eat raw.

You can find them through:

  • Foraging in Town
  • Town Outskirts
  • The Mall
  • The Old Woods
  • Tier 1 Garbage Loot
  • Tier 1 Loot Boxes

They sell for 6 Gold.

Secret Sauce

Secret Sauce is used in several recipes and can be obtained by:

  • Processing an Eyeball in a Grinder or Windmill
  • Buying it from the General Store
  • Foraging in the Mall Mine

It costs 75 Gold and sells for 37 Gold.

Mystery Meat

Mystery Meat is dropped by monsters and can also be purchased occasionally from the Garbage Man on Mondays and Thursdays.

You can find it from enemies in areas such as:

  • The Mall
  • The Sewers

Mystery Meat costs 14 Gold and sells for 7 Gold.

Cooked Meat

Cooked Meat is created using the Cooking Pot and is also used in several larger recipes.

It can restore HP and is worth keeping if you’re planning to make meals like Pizza, Hotdogs, or other meat-based dishes.

Salt

Salt is another important ingredient for cooking.

You can get Salt by:

  • Processing Salt Rock in a Grinder or Windmill
  • Buying it from the General Store

Salt costs 40 Gold and sells for 20 Gold.

Milk and Eggs

Different sizes of Milk and Eggs can also be used in recipes.

These include:

  • Small Milk
  • Large Milk
  • Small Goat Milk
  • Large Goat Milk
  • Small Egg
  • Large Egg

These ingredients become especially important for some of the stronger recipes later in the game.

If you’re just starting out, I wouldn’t recommend selling every ingredient you find. A lot of the materials that seem common early on, especially Bitter Herbs, Red Mushrooms, Bread, and Mystery Meat, become important when you start unlocking stronger recipes.

I also like keeping a mixture of HP and MP food ready before heading into dangerous areas. A meal that restores a huge amount of HP might look great, but if your Rituals are draining your MP, having something like Mana Candy, Bitter Gel, or a good Juicer drink can be just as important.

As you unlock more recipes, pay attention to meals that provide bonuses rather than just healing. Food that increases your stats until midnight or gives you a Blessing can be extremely useful before difficult fights or long exploration sessions.

Cooking can look overwhelming once you see how many recipes Welcome to Elderfield has, but you don’t need to unlock everything immediately. Start with the basic recipes, save useful ingredients, and gradually build your collection as you complete quests and explore more of Elderfield.
