Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker Achievement Guide 100%

If you are trying to unlock every achievement in METAL GEAR SOLID: Peace Walker – Master Collection Version, there is a lot to work through. Some achievements unlock naturally by completing the story, while others require S-ranks, specific mission actions, rare equipment, Outer Ops progress, and a few RNG-heavy unlocks.

In this post, we will go through every major achievement category in Peace Walker and explain what you need to do to unlock them. We will cover story achievements, combat challenges, mission-specific achievements, vehicle battles, AI weapons, ranks, Outer Ops, equipment, and miscellaneous achievements.

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker Achievement Guide 100%

Most of the story achievements unlock automatically as you progress through the Main Ops missions.

An Army Without Borders

Clear the Prologue:

An Army Without Borders

A Country Without An Army

Complete Chapter 1:

A Country Without An Army

The Phantom Hero

Complete Chapter 2:

The Phantom Hero

A Nation Reborn

Complete Chapter 3:

A Nation Reborn

The Illusion of Peace

Complete Chapter 4:

The Illusion of Peace

Outer Heaven

Clear Chapter 5:

Outer Heaven

This achievement takes a few additional steps after Chapter 4.

After completing Chapter 4, continue playing missions until you receive a message that unlocks another Main Ops mission. This process repeats several times.

Eventually, after going through this cycle, you will unlock the final story mission needed to complete Chapter 5 and reach the ending.

Combat Achievements

These achievements focus on basic combat actions that you will often perform naturally while playing.

You’re Pretty Good

Shoot an enemy with a sleep-inducing weapon directly in the middle of their behind.

In simple terms, hit an enemy with a tranquilizer dart in the butt. There is a good chance you will unlock this accidentally during normal gameplay.

Indirect Attack

Attack enemy soldiers by blowing up an oil drum or truck.

This achievement is for single-player gameplay.

There are a couple of situations where this can be done more easily. Extra Ops 056 requires eliminating a soldier using a barrel, making it a useful opportunity.

The Main Maintenance Dock area during Head to the Control Tower also contains barrels with soldiers frequently standing nearby.

CQC Six Shot

Perform CQC six times in a row.

MSF Soldier recruitment missions can be useful for this achievement because you can get several soldiers together if you wait long enough.

Try to have at least three enemies available. Throw them away from anyone currently on the ground so they can get back up quickly, then grab them again.

With some timing and luck, you can perform six consecutive CQC actions.

Remember Some of the Basics of CQC

Knock out 50 enemies using CQC.

This is a relatively straightforward achievement that you should unlock naturally over time.

Headshot Hero

Take down 50 enemies with headshots.

Again, this should come naturally as you continue playing missions.

Hold-Up Artist

Reach 100 successful hold-ups.

Walk behind an enemy and aim your weapon at them to hold them up.

Not every weapon works for this, so avoid using things such as launchers or grenades.

If you are trying to S-rank missions, especially vehicle missions, you will probably make plenty of hold-ups along the way.

Stun Specialist

Reach at least 100 stun or sleep-inducing attacks.

This is another achievement you will likely earn naturally.

Using the Double-Barrel shotgun with rubber slugs can help speed up your progress.

Lethal Enforcer

Reach 100 kills.

Some of the earlier vehicle battles cannot easily be S-ranked until you have better equipment, so you may end up getting plenty of kills while progressing through the game.

Fulton Recovery Veteran

Reach 300 Fulton recoveries.

If you are attempting to S-rank every mission, you should eventually unlock this achievement without needing to specifically grind for it.

Mission-Specific Achievements

These achievements require completing specific actions during particular missions.

Kuwabara, Kuwabara

Hear a ghost on the radio.

During Extra Ops 060, stand on top of one of the dying soldiers and repeatedly use the Codec.

There is a rare chance that you will receive a message from The End.

I’m Dead Serious

Throw a chaff grenade during the appropriate final boss encounter to trigger the required reaction.

This achievement is single-player only.

Paz Mania

Obtain Rank S during a date with Paz.

To S-rank the mission, you need to raise Paz’s affinity to 200.

First, equip the Tuxedo. Then load as many positive Co-Ops communication lines into your list as possible.

Useful lines include:

  • Peace!
  • It’s not over yet!
  • You’re pretty good.
  • Good to have you!
  • Kept you waiting, huh?
  • Don’t die on me.
  • Impressive.
  • I knew you had it in you!
  • I like it!
  • Good.
  • Box time!
  • Get inside!

Stand next to Paz and use your positive communication lines.

Use each line once before cycling back through your list again. Give roughly two seconds between lines so her reaction can register properly.

You will know you are getting close when her reaction changes and becomes more excited.

Once you have enough affinity, equip the cardboard box and Paz will crawl underneath it to finish the mission.

Kaz Mania

Obtain Rank S during a date with Kaz.

The basic idea is similar to the Paz mission, but Kaz responds differently.

Use CQC to grab Kaz and release him several times.

You can also wear the swimsuit during the mission. When Kaz begins clapping his hands, you are getting close to the required affinity.

Hideo Kojima

Recruit Hideo Kojima.

At the end of Infiltrate the Crater Base, inspect the trucks to find the correct one.

Look for the truck with the license plate:

63824

Search it to find the special recruit.

Searching the trucks from right to left can make the process easier.

Leap of Faith

Perform a Leap of Faith.

During the Travel to the Mine Base Main Mission, follow the road from your starting location.

You can find a hay bale near one of the red barns.

Climb onto the building and you will receive a prompt allowing you to jump into the hay bale.

Completing this also unlocks the Assassin’s Straw Box.

That Looks Tasty!

Cook a ration.

On Isla del Monstruo, find a fire pit and equip a ration.

Use the interaction prompt to start cooking.

There are three possible cooking levels:

  • Rare
  • Well Done
  • Burnt

Simply cooking a ration is enough to unlock the achievement.

This can be done during Extra Ops 064 before unlocking the Monster Hunter missions.

Monster Hunter

Clear all hunting quests.

First, listen to Chico’s Briefing Files about Isla del Monstruo and the related creatures.

After that, start Extra Ops 029 as Snake.

Instead of moving toward the normal objective, go backward toward the beach and head to the docks.

You will find Trenya there.

After meeting Trenya, complete the unlocked hunting missions. There are eight in total.

Vehicle Battle Achievements

Vehicle battles are one of the biggest parts of the achievement grind, especially if you are trying to earn S-ranks.

Mech Catcher

Capture a mech.

There are multiple ways to capture vehicles, but the S-rank method is useful because it helps with both vehicle capture achievements and mission rankings.

The general goal is to Fulton every soldier without being spotted.

One important thing to remember is that alerting the commander after they appear does not count as a normal alert. You can still earn an S-rank, but you must extract every soldier first.

Recommended Equipment for Vehicle Battles

For the easiest S-rank strategy, bring:

  • Carl Gustav M2 with Fulton Recovery
  • Fulton Sleep Gas Mine
  • Smoke Grenades
  • Tranq Pistol
  • Fulton Recovery System
  • Analyzer
  • Bandana if available

The Bandana is not required, but infinite ammunition can make certain missions easier.

Armored Vehicles

Armored Vehicles are generally the easiest vehicle type to deal with.

They stop after moving certain distances and periodically deploy new groups of soldiers.

There are two main deployment styles.

Top Deploy Armored Vehicles

Start by holding up the four escort soldiers.

Place a Fulton mine in the middle of them to extract all four.

Then position yourself behind the Armored Vehicle while keeping its left side visible.

When it deploys another group, aim the Fulton launcher where the soldiers are jumping out.

As soon as the first soldier reaches the ground, fire to catch the group.

Repeat the process until the commander appears.

Back Deploy Armored Vehicles

Again, begin by dealing with the four escort soldiers.

Stand behind the vehicle within grenade range.

When soldiers begin deploying from the rear, throw a smoke grenade at the back door.

The smoke causes them to stop moving, making them easier to capture together.

Use the Fulton launcher to extract the group and repeat until the commander appears.

Tanks

Tanks can be manageable if you are patient.

The biggest problem is that tanks can detect Fulton launcher shots when their turret has a line of sight to you.

Because of this, Fulton mines are often the safer option.

Start by holding up the four escort soldiers and extracting them with a Fulton mine.

More soldiers will begin spawning around the map.

If you wait for them to return toward the tank, you can continue using the same strategy.

Each map has several regular spawn points, so learning where they are can make these missions much easier.

If you have the Bandana, you can also use smoke grenades to keep soldiers stuck and make their movement more predictable.

Attack Choppers

Attack Choppers are generally the most frustrating vehicle type.

Their detection can be unpredictable, and they may sometimes react to Fulton launcher shots even when they should not have a clear view of you.

Stay crouched and use the Sneaking Suit when possible.

The safest time to use the Fulton launcher is usually during the soldier deployment animation and immediately after it.

Use smoke grenades at soldier landing positions to keep the groups from moving.

Then extract them using:

  • Fulton launcher
  • Fulton mines
  • Stun Rod followed by extraction

Keep repeating the process until the commander appears.

Hiding inside a cardboard box whenever you are not actively moving can also help reduce the chance of being detected.

Metal Stealer

Capture every vehicle variation.

You need to have every vehicle variation in your hangar at the same time.

This is a lengthy achievement, but players attempting to S-rank every mission will likely work toward it naturally.

Be careful not to lose your collected vehicles during Outer Ops.

AI Battle Achievements

Basilisk Eater

Defeat:

  • Pupa
  • Chrysalis
  • Cocoon
  • Peace Walker

This achievement is story-related.

Steel Eater

Defeat all AI weapons.

This includes the story AI battles along with Mk2 and Custom battles.

Launched ZEKE

Complete Metal Gear ZEKE.

After ZEKE development becomes available, replay AI battles to collect the required parts.

Avoid damaging the specific parts you want to earn.

For the best chance of obtaining parts, focus your attacks on the AI Pod whenever possible.

Once ZEKE has its four main components and the railgun obtained from Chrysalis, it can be used.

Completed ZEKE

Customize ZEKE using special AI weapon head and foot parts.

This is one of the most difficult and RNG-heavy achievements in the game.

The special parts have low drop chances and require you to avoid damaging the parts you are trying to obtain.

As a general rule, avoid shooting the required head or leg component and focus on other targets.

Custom AI battles are generally the preferred option for farming these special parts.

The Cocoon head is considered one of the easier parts to farm because Cocoon has more areas you can attack without accidentally damaging its head.

Once you obtain the required custom head and Peace Walker leg parts, equip them on ZEKE to unlock the achievement.

Rank Achievements

MAIN OPS All Rank A

Complete every Main Ops mission at Rank A or higher.

MAIN OPS All Rank S

Complete every Main Ops mission at Rank S.

The biggest factor in earning S-ranks is usually your completion time.

Learn enemy positions and either avoid them completely or deal with them quickly.

The Sneaking Suit is particularly useful because it reduces your footsteps and makes detection less likely.

A few useful S-rank tips include:

  • Move through missions quickly.
  • Avoid unnecessary Fulton recoveries.
  • Use hold-ups instead of fighting when possible.
  • Maintain zero kills when required.
  • Avoid alerts.
  • Learn enemy positions before serious S-rank attempts.

Vehicle battles have their own strategies, so use the vehicle section when working on those missions.

AI battles are heavily based on clear time, so stronger weapons can make them easier.

EXTRA OPS All Cleared

Complete every Extra Ops mission.

EXTRA OPS All Rank A

Complete every Extra Ops mission at Rank A or higher.

EXTRA OPS All Rank S

Complete every Extra Ops mission at Rank S.

This is one of the largest achievement grinds in Peace Walker.

Many Extra Ops follow similar rules: move quickly, avoid alerts, avoid kills where necessary, and complete the objective efficiently.

Big Boss

Clear every Main Ops and Extra Ops mission at Rank S.

You will unlock this after completing the required S-rank achievements.

Outer Ops Achievements

OUTER OPS Sortie

Complete a mission in Outer Ops.

You will unlock Outer Ops naturally while progressing through the story.

Simply send your units on and complete a mission.

Elite Forces

Clear Capture the Enemy Base 06 in Outer Ops using only soldiers.

This is the final Outer Ops mission, so you should wait until you are properly prepared.

A strong setup includes six Combat Unit members with high combat stats and plenty of health.

Useful equipment includes the Carl Gustav M2 and the Kampfpistole.

The Kampfpistole is especially powerful because your soldiers can use it frequently while dealing significant damage.

With strong soldiers and the right equipment, this mission becomes much more manageable.

Equipment Achievements

I Feel… Safe

Wear a cardboard box.

Simply equip any cardboard box.

Gives Me Infinite Ammo

Acquire the Infinity Bandana.

Complete Extra Ops 119, the Peace Walker Custom battle, with an S-rank.

The clear time requirement is under 30 minutes.

After obtaining the blueprints, develop the Bandana to unlock the achievement.

Stealth Camouflage

Acquire Stealth Camouflage.

Earn an S-rank in Extra Ops 50, Perfect Stealth.

You also need a staff member with the Metamaterials Technology skill, which can be found randomly through Extra Ops 49.

Develop the item once you have the required materials and specialist.

Costume Collector

Obtain every costume.

This includes multiplayer and Versus Ops outfits.

You do not need to actually play multiplayer, but you need to unlock the outfits.

Check the R&D section of Mother Base data to monitor your uniform completion percentage.

Many costumes are obtained through Main Ops, Extra Ops, S-ranks, hidden pickups, Monster Hunter missions, and Outer Ops.

Some examples include:

  • Sneaking Suit — Main Ops Attack Chopper Battle Mi-24A
  • Battle Dress — Peace Walker Battle
  • Leaf — Extra Ops 014 S-rank
  • Tiger Stripe — Found during Pursue Amanda
  • Choco Chip — Extra Ops 045 S-rank
  • Tuxedo — Peace Walker Battle 3
  • Amanda — Extra Ops 067 S-rank
  • Miller — Extra Ops 068 S-rank
  • Swimsuit — Repeat Date With Paz after earning an S-rank
  • Bikini — Repeat Date With Kaz after earning an S-rank

You will need to continue collecting every available uniform to complete this achievement.

Divine Wind

Fulton a soldier using a divine wind.

A rare Rathalos drop provides the item needed to develop the Tanegashima Musket.

The weapon can Fulton soldiers with certain shots.

You also need an R&D specialist with the Japanese Patriot skill, which can randomly appear through Extra Ops 049.

This achievement can take a long time because both requirements involve RNG.

Miscellaneous Achievements

Kotodama

Use a Co-Ops Comms battle cry.

During mission preparation, open the Co-Ops Comms menu and choose a line with an effect indicator.

Once inside the mission, open the communications menu and use the line.

This can also be completed in single-player.

Huey’s Thoughts

Read Huey’s love letter.

After the Pupa battle, Huey gives Snake a letter.

Go to the R&D menu at Mother Base and open the Misc section.

Huey’s letter should appear there for you to inspect.

Cover-to-Cover Solid: Peace Walker

Read every page in the Screenplay Book.

You simply need to work through all the pages.

Strangelove’s Thoughts

Read all of Strangelove’s memoirs.

After completing Chapter 4, replay the story AI battles.

Enter the AI Pod and move around it until you receive the prompt to remove a tape.

Collect all three tapes and listen to them.

Paz’s Thoughts

Read all of Paz’s diary entries.

After completing Chapter 5, play the Mk2 and Custom AI battles.

Enter the AI Pod and search for the prompts allowing you to collect diary tapes.

There are ten tapes in total.

You may need to rotate between battles because repeatedly playing the same battle eventually stops giving the next tape.

Special Staff Recruiter

Recruit every special staff member.

Some special recruits have low stats and can easily be dismissed accidentally.

Before removing staff from Mother Base, double-check that you are not dismissing one of the special members needed for the achievement.

You Have Far Too Many Game Overs

Reach 50 or more Game Overs.

There is no visible tracker for this achievement.

A quick method is loading Extra Ops 021 and repeatedly falling from the bridge.

Don’t You Have Anything Else to Do?

Roll 100 times during a single mission.

You can do this almost anywhere.

Simply keep using the roll button while moving in a direction until you reach the required number of rolls.

Final Tips for Completing Every Achievement

Getting every achievement in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is a long process, especially if you are aiming for every S-rank and all of the RNG-based ZEKE parts.

The easiest approach is to work on multiple achievements at the same time. Focus on completing the story first, develop better weapons and equipment, then return to difficult missions for S-ranks.

Vehicle battles are one of the biggest challenges, so learning how Fulton extraction works against each vehicle type will save you a lot of time.

For the hardest achievements, patience is important. Some special equipment, staff members, and AI parts depend heavily on random drops, meaning you may need to repeat missions several times.

Keep progressing through Main Ops and Extra Ops, improve your equipment, build up Mother Base, and gradually work through the remaining requirements. Eventually, every achievement will be within reach.
