How to Get Carbon Fiber in Loftia – Required Tool, Source

Carbon Fiber is a rare crafting material in Loftia, and you’ll need it for several useful tools, equipment pieces, furniture items, and community projects. However, finding it can be tricky because some sources require upgraded tools or a special quest.

In this guide, I’ll explain every confirmed way to get Carbon Fiber, including the best places to farm it, which tools you need, and how to unlock those tools. I’ll also cover the items you can craft with Carbon Fiber so you know what to save it for.

Whether you’re collecting your first pieces or gathering materials for a bigger crafting project, here’s how to get Carbon Fiber efficiently.

How to Get Carbon Fiber in Loftia – Required Tool, Source

There are four main sources of Carbon Fiber in Loftia:

Source Required Tool Carbon Fiber
Lockbox Hammer Hammer Lv.3 Guaranteed 1–2 per successful salvage
Pile of Cars Hammer Lv.3 Random drop
Residential Uncommon Artifact Locator 38.5% chance of 1
Residential Rare Artifact Locator 38.5% chance of 1
The Art of Letting Go quest Locator Tool crafting 3 as a quest reward

The Lockbox Hammer is the most reliable repeatable source because it always gives Carbon Fiber when successfully salvaged.

1. Get Carbon Fiber From Lockbox Hammers

Lockbox Hammers are the best place to start farming Carbon Fiber. Each successful salvage gives you 1–2 Carbon Fiber.

You’ll need a Hammer Lv.3 to salvage them. Lockbox Hammers have a 75% spawn chance and respawn after approximately 20 minutes.

There are 17 known locations:

  • 11 on Urbex
  • 6 on The Gridfall

Check the Lockbox Hammer locations on your map and revisit them after they respawn. Since the drop is guaranteed, this is a dependable way to build up your supply.

2. Salvage Piles of Cars

Piles of Cars are another source of Carbon Fiber, but their drops are random.

You need a Hammer Lv.3 to salvage them. They have a 70% spawn chance and respawn after approximately 2 minutes. There are 9 known locations on The Gridfall.

Carbon Fiber is one of several possible drops, alongside Glass Cullets, Metal Scraps, Rusted Metal, Screws, and Tire. The chance of receiving Carbon Fiber depends on the quality of your salvage:

Salvage Result Carbon Fiber Drop Chance
Normal catch 1% for ×1
Good catch 3.8% for ×1–2
Perfect catch 9.1% for ×1–3

Because Carbon Fiber is not guaranteed, treat Piles of Cars as an additional farming option rather than your main source.

3. Gather Residential Artifacts With a Locator

Once you have a Locator, you can gather Residential Uncommon and Residential Rare Artifacts.

Both artifact types have a 38.5% chance to contain 1 Carbon Fiber. They also have a 75% spawn chance and respawn after approximately 3 minutes.

There are 30 known artifact locations on Urbex:

  • 18 Residential Uncommon Artifact locations
  • 12 Residential Rare Artifact locations

Artifacts can also provide Electronic Scraps, Magnets, Fabric Scraps, and collectible toys. This makes them useful when you need several crafting materials at once.

4. Complete The Art of Letting Go

The quest The Art of Letting Go rewards you with 3 Carbon Fiber, along with the Urban Layered Pants and the Locator recipe.

You receive this quest from Mita in The Gridfall, but you must complete Beneath the Surface first.

One of the quest steps requires crafting a Locator Tool. You’ll also need a Rainbow Trout, 3 Bioluminescent Ivy, and a Battered and Used Rubber Duck. Both rubber ducks can drop from Residential Uncommon Artifacts.

Quest Reward

  • 3 Carbon Fiber
  • Urban Layered Pants
  • Locator recipe

The quest is especially useful because it gives you Carbon Fiber while also unlocking the Locator recipe needed to gather more.

How to Unlock Hammer Lv.3

Hammer Lv.3 is required to salvage Lockbox Hammers and Piles of Cars.

Step 1: Research Advanced Mechanics

Visit the Museum Research Station and research Advanced Mechanics. You’ll need:

  • Electronic Scraps
  • Gears
  • Rusted Metal
  • Rust Resistant Alloy

Step 2: Craft Hammer Lv.1

At a Project Station, craft your first Hammer using:

  • 5 Screws
  • 5 Plastic Discards

Step 3: Upgrade to Hammer Lv.2

At a Project Station, craft Hammer Lv.2 using:

  • 10 Rattan
  • 10 Copper Scraps

You’ll also need Rubber, which is crafted from Tires at a Refining Station.

Step 4: Craft Hammer Lv.3

At a Project Station Lv.3, combine:

  • 1 Hammer Lv.2
  • 5 Electronic Scraps
  • 3 Rust Resistant Alloy
  • 1 Lignin

You can craft Rust Resistant Alloy and Lignin at the Refining Station.

How to Craft the Locator

The Locator is essential for collecting Residential Artifacts.

Locator Materials

Material Amount
Magnets 5
Carbon Fiber 2
Glass 2

Craft the Locator at a Project Station Lv.3.

You can obtain Magnets from Old Servers using Hammer Lv.2. Residential and Office Artifacts can also provide Magnets, but you’ll need a Locator to gather those artifacts.

To make Glass, gather Sand from Sand Piles and refine it at a Refining Station. You need 10 Sand to craft the 2 Glass required for the Locator.

Important: You need 2 Carbon Fiber to craft the Locator, but the quest rewards 3 Carbon Fiber only after you craft it. Gather the initial 2 Carbon Fiber from Lockbox Hammers or Piles of Cars first.

Best Way to Farm Carbon Fiber

If you want to collect Carbon Fiber efficiently, I recommend this order:

  1. Craft Hammer Lv.3 so you can access the reliable Lockbox Hammer source.
  2. Farm Lockbox Hammers for guaranteed Carbon Fiber.
  3. Salvage Piles of Cars while waiting for Lockbox Hammers to respawn.
  4. Complete The Art of Letting Go to receive 3 additional Carbon Fiber and unlock the Locator recipe.
  5. Craft the Locator and gather Residential Artifacts for more materials.

This approach lets you obtain Carbon Fiber from dependable sources first, then expand into artifact farming once you have the required tool.

Carbon Fiber can seem difficult to find at first, but once you unlock Hammer Lv.3, Lockbox Hammers become a reliable source. Piles of Cars provide another chance at drops, while Residential Artifacts become available after you craft the Locator.

If you’re just starting, focus on getting Hammer Lv.3 and collecting your first 2 Carbon Fiber. That will help you craft the Locator, complete The Art of Letting Go, and unlock more ways to gather this rare material.
