How to Get the Ancient Idol Rod in Fisch Skycrest

The Skycrest update has added a lot of new content to Fisch, and one of the most interesting rewards you can work toward is the Ancient Idol Rod. Getting it can feel confusing at first because Skycrest throws a huge number of quests, NPCs, Ancient Idols, and new mechanics at you all at once.

In this post, I will show you how I obtained the Ancient Idol Rod in Fisch Skycrest, including how the Ancient Idol system works, how to unlock all of the required charms, and what you need to do before you can finally claim the rod.

The process takes some time, and you will probably spend a lot of it completing different fishing challenges. However, once you understand that the Ancient Idol quests are the main thing you need to focus on, the progression becomes much easier to follow.

How to Get the Ancient Idol Rod in Fisch Skycrest

The first thing I did was make my way to the new Skycrest area. This is where the entire Ancient Idol progression takes place.

When you arrive, you will find several NPCs and a large number of available quests. At first, I honestly had no idea which quests were important because there were so many of them appearing at the same time.

One of the first important objectives involves the Keeper of the Sky and tells you to seek an Ancient Idol and complete its first trial.

My first task was simple:

  • Catch 10 fish at Skycrest.

So, I started fishing and quickly completed the requirement.

Focus on the Ancient Idol Quests

After completing the early Skycrest objective, I started looking through all of the available quests. The important ones for getting the Ancient Idol Rod are connected to the Ancient Idols.

There are seven Ancient Idols that you need to progress through.

At first, the system can look extremely confusing. You may see quests involving catching specific fish, weather conditions, fishing stats, giant fish, hunts, rods, bait, and other special requirements.

My advice is simple: keep accepting and completing the Ancient Idol-related quests.

You do not need to understand every single mechanic immediately. I spent a lot of time simply fishing, completing objectives, checking my quest book, and claiming rewards whenever they became available.

That is how the progression started making sense.

Complete Quests to Unlock Ancient Idol Charms

The most important part of this process is unlocking the charms from the Ancient Idols.

While completing quests, I eventually received my first notification saying that a charm had been unlocked.

Each charm provides a different benefit. For example, one of the charms I unlocked was connected to Resilience, while others provided bonuses such as:

  • Fortune
  • Swiftness
  • Resilience

Once you unlock a charm, you can equip it and continue progressing.

The key thing I discovered is that you need to keep completing the quests associated with the Ancient Idols until you unlock their charms.

How Many Ancient Idol Charms Do You Need?

To unlock the Ancient Idol Rod, you need to unlock all seven Ancient Idol charms.

This is the main requirement that takes the most time.

During my progress, I kept checking how many I had unlocked. Eventually, I reached:

  • 3 out of 7 Ancient Idol charms
  • Then more charms as I continued completing quests
  • Finally, 6 out of 7

Once you get close to the end, you will only need to complete the remaining Idol requirements.

The quests can vary quite a bit, so be prepared to do different fishing challenges rather than repeating exactly the same task every time.

Examples of Quests You May Need to Complete

The Skycrest Ancient Idol progression includes many different types of objectives.

Some of the quests I encountered involved catching fish under specific conditions or using particular stats.

For example, I had quests involving:

  • Catching fish at Skycrest
  • Catching giant fish
  • Catching fish with specific Resilience requirements
  • Catching fish with certain Progress Speed requirements
  • Performing perfect casts
  • Catching multiple fish in a row
  • Catching specific fish during certain weather conditions
  • Catching hunt fish with a specific rod

Because there are so many quests, I recommend keeping your notifications turned on and regularly checking your quest book.

Sometimes I completed objectives without even realizing it until the completion notification appeared.

Keep Fishing and Completing Available Objectives

A large part of getting the Ancient Idol Rod is simply spending time fishing.

When I was unsure what to do next, I continued fishing and working through the available objectives. This helped me complete multiple quests naturally.

Some requirements can be very specific, though. For example, you may need certain fishing stats.

I encountered a requirement involving 50 or more Progress Speed, so I used Glowworms, which provided enough Progress Speed to meet the requirement.

If you get stuck on a quest, check exactly what stats, bait, rod, weather, or fish the objective requires before continuing.

Changing your setup can make a big difference.

Complete the Giant Fish Requirement

Another important requirement for the Ancient Idol Rod is catching giant fish at Skycrest.

Once I had almost all of the Ancient Idol charms unlocked, I focused on getting the giant fish requirement completed.

Using equipment that helps you handle heavier fish can make this part easier.

After catching the required giant fish and completing the remaining Ancient Idol objectives, I was finally ready for the last step.

One Quest Required the Artisan Rod

One of the objectives I encountered required me to catch a hunt fish using the Artisan Rod.

This was important because not every large fish counted toward the objective.

I initially tried catching sharks, but they did not count for the hunt fish requirement.

Eventually, I found a Colossal Ancient Dragon hunt that could be used for the objective.

For this attempt, I used:

  • Artisan Rod
  • Shark Head bait

After catching the required hunt fish, I was able to complete the quest and move closer to the final reward.

So, if you encounter the Artisan Rod hunt fish objective, make sure you are targeting an actual hunt fish rather than assuming every large fish will count.

Unlock All Seven Ancient Idol Charms

After continuing through the quests and completing the different challenges, I finally reached the point where all of the required Ancient Idol progression was complete.

The biggest requirement is unlocking all seven Ancient Idol charms.

This can take a while because you need to work through multiple quests and challenges.

For me, the entire process took around 2 hours and 8 minutes, although your completion time may be different depending on your gear, fishing speed, and how quickly you complete the available objectives.

Once all seven charms were unlocked and the remaining requirements were completed, I was finally able to claim the reward.

Claim the Ancient Idol Rod

After completing the requirements, I claimed the Ancient Idol Rod.

The rod looks really good and is one of the major rewards from the Skycrest Ancient Idol progression.

Based on my run, the main requirements were:

  • Unlock all 7 Ancient Idol charms
  • Complete the required Ancient Idol quests
  • Catch the required giant fish
  • Finish the remaining progression objectives

The exact quest order can feel messy because there are many different objectives available at Skycrest, but the important thing is to keep your focus on the Ancient Idol progression.

Ancient Idol Rod Stats

After obtaining the rod, I checked its stats.

The Ancient Idol Rod has approximately:

  • 80 Luck
  • 165 Control
  • 0.3 Lure Speed
  • 60 Resilience
  • Infinite Max Kg

These are solid stats, especially considering the amount of Skycrest progression required to unlock it.

Ancient Idol Rod Ability

The rod also appears to have abilities connected to the Ancient Idol system, including effects called:

  • Idol’s Judgment
  • Idol’s Curse

The exact behavior of these effects can be a little confusing when you first test the rod, so I would recommend experimenting with it after unlocking it.

The important part is that the Ancient Idol Rod is not simply a rod you can purchase immediately. You have to work through the Skycrest Ancient Idol progression first.
