If you are playing Lou’s Lagoon and need help getting through the main story, this walkthrough will take you through the important missions step by step. In this post, we will explain where you need to go, which characters you need to speak with, what materials you need to collect, and how to complete some of the more confusing objectives.
Lou’s Lagoon gives you plenty of freedom to explore islands, complete side activities, collect resources, and craft new items. However, it can sometimes be difficult to tell exactly what you need to do next to continue the main story. That is where this guide comes in, as we will focus mainly on the story missions while also covering the side quests you may need for Shellings, Spark Cores, and upgrades.
You can follow this walkthrough from the beginning if you are starting a new adventure, or simply jump to the mission where you are currently stuck. We have kept everything in story order so you can easily see what comes next and prepare for the resources and tools you will need along the way.
Lou’s Lagoon Walkthrough – Story Mission, Materials
As you travel around the world, you will come across plenty of materials that can be collected. Although we will mention specific resources when they are required for missions, I recommend regularly picking up Driftwood and Scrap whenever you see them. You will need both resources many times throughout the game.
Be a little careful about collecting absolutely everything, though. Your inventory space is limited, and some materials will not be immediately useful.
When your inventory starts getting full, head near your plane and open your inventory. From there, you can move items into the cargo hold. Remember that you will need to take those items back out before using them for crafting.
Your storage capacity will increase as you progress through missions and discover chests around the world. This is another good reason to spend some time exploring and completing optional activities.
If you are having trouble finding a particular material, it can also be worth checking the shop. Sometimes buying a resource is quicker than searching the island for it.
Important Things to Remember Before Playing
One thing I strongly recommend is saving your game regularly. Lou’s Lagoon uses manual saving, and you can access the save option from the main menu whenever you need it.
When you load your save, your completed progress remains, but your exact location does not. You will normally return to an island’s port. So if you have climbed through a difficult area or reached somewhere hard to access, it is usually best to finish what you are doing before quitting.
There is also no fall damage in the game, so you do not need to worry about jumping from high places.
If you ever become trapped in the environment, open the settings menu and select “I am stuck!”. This sends you back to your plane and can also be useful when you simply want to return there quickly.
A New Beginning
Your adventure starts by finding Hefti near the damaged pier on the beach. Look for the red mission marker on your minimap if you are unsure where to go.
Hefti gives you the Swirler, which is the main tool used for collecting materials.
Your first objective is to gather 10 pieces of Driftwood from around the beach. If you are playing with a controller, hold the right trigger to use the Swirler and collect the material.
After collecting all 10 pieces, return to the broken pier. Aim your Swirler at it and use the left trigger to transfer the Driftwood and repair it.
Proper Propelling
Starting from the pier, travel east along the beach until you reach a cave.
Go through the cave and continue out the other side. Here, you will meet a box-headed character named Clip. Speak with them to continue.
Rascal Rescue
Your next job is to repair a broken raft so Clap can return from the nearby small island.
Explore the beach and collect 20 pieces of Driftwood.
How to Defeat Pirates in Lou’s Lagoon
While exploring, you may encounter pirate enemies that resemble dogs or wolves. These enemies throw black goo at you.
They cannot permanently defeat you, but getting hit by their goo temporarily stuns you.
To deal with them, aim your Swirler at the pirate and hold the right trigger. Try moving sideways while attacking so you can avoid the goo they throw at you.
Pirates can also perform a spinning attack if you get too close, so keeping some distance makes the fight easier.
After defeating them, you receive Shellings, and a pirate will usually give you around 100 Shellings.
Once you have collected enough Driftwood, swim over to the island where Clap is waiting and transfer the materials into the raft.
The Kids’ Hideout
Swim back to the mainland and return to the cave you previously travelled through.
Inside, look to the right for a doorway leading to Clip and Clap’s hideout.
Speak with them to continue the story.
Proper Propelling
Pick up the propeller using your Swirler and return to the pier where the seaplane is located.
Use the left trigger to place the propeller into the plane.
In the Market for a Microchip
Now speak with Jackie, who runs a shop from the boat beside the pier.
Choose the Trade option and purchase the Microchip from the shop section.
After buying it, return to the plane and transfer the Microchip into it using the left trigger.
Fine Refining
You will now use the Refinery for the first time.
The Refinery allows us to turn basic resources into more advanced crafting materials.
You can find the large green Refinery machine across the beach from the pier.
For this objective, you need 2 Refined Metal.
Each Refined Metal requires 6 Scrap, meaning you need to collect 12 Scrap altogether.
Fortunately, there is plenty of Scrap around the beach and nearby areas.
Once you have enough:
- Go to the Refinery.
- Select Refined Metal.
- Choose Craft.
- Set the amount to 2.
- Craft the materials.
The machine needs a few seconds to complete the process.
When it is finished, use your Swirler to collect the crafted materials from the ground near the Refinery.
Take the Refined Metal to your plane and transfer it inside.
To Tanglebloom
We can finally fly the plane.
Before leaving, however, you need to prepare 6 Refined Wood and 4 Refined Metal.
To create the required materials, you will need:
- 18 Driftwood
- 24 Scrap
Use the Refinery to make everything you need. Remember that the machine only processes one crafting job at a time.
Once you are finished, return to the plane and press Square/X to enter it.
Tanglebloom is located south of Lou’s Island. When you enter the plane, you should already be facing the correct direction.
If the flying controls do not feel comfortable, you can change the control settings from the options menu.
When you approach Tanglebloom, simply press Square/X when the landing prompt appears.
Finding the Mayor
After arriving on the island, head up the stairs past the large log.
Continue climbing another set of stairs and then another.
At the top, turn left to find the Mayor’s Office.
Go inside and speak with Mayor Bubo.
Builder-in-Chief
Leave the Mayor’s Office and travel back down toward the port.
Speak with Gondo, who is standing near your plane.
Ask him to take you to Norleaf.
Reaching the Radio Tower on Norleaf
Once you arrive on Norleaf, your objective is to reach the radio tower.
There is quite a bit of platforming involved here, so take your time. You will also find plenty of Scrap while exploring, and I recommend collecting it whenever possible.
From the boat, move straight ahead and then head right through the vegetation.
Eventually, you will see large plants that need Waterberries to bloom.
Look nearby for a small pond containing Waterberries. Collect them with your Swirler and transfer them into the plants.
The plants only remain active for a limited time, so move across them quickly.
Use the shortest plant to reach the next ledge.
Once across, move right and find a vine that allows you to climb higher.
Continue forward and drop down to reach the broken radio tower.
Speak with Bobster, who is standing nearby.
The Tanglebloom Radio Tower
To repair the radio tower, transfer:
- 6 Refined Wood
- 4 Refined Metal
Once the materials are placed inside, the tower will be repaired.
Return of the Gadgeteer
You can now return to the boat by dropping down from the area.
Speak with Gondo and return to Tanglebloom Town.
From there, enter your plane and fly back to Lou’s Island, located north of Tanglebloom near the centre of the map.
A Tool for Building
Your next goal is to earn 800 Shellings so you can unlock the Builder tool.
There are several ways to earn Shellings throughout Lou’s Lagoon.
How to Earn Shellings
You can make money by:
- Selling items.
- Completing main and side missions.
- Opening treasure chests.
- Defeating pirates.
Selling refined or crafted materials can sometimes give you more money than selling the original resources.
For this mission, a quick method is creating and selling Refined Metal.
Each Refined Metal is worth 75 Shellings.
If you need around 750 Shellings, you can create 10 Refined Metal, requiring 60 Scrap.
Search around Lou’s Island beach until you have enough Scrap.
Turn it into Refined Metal using the Refinery.
Then visit Jackie’s Treasures and sell the materials.
Once you have 800 Shellings, visit Fidge in the Lab.
Choose “Shellings for the Builder?” and then select Builder 1.0 from the Upgrade menu.
After unlocking it, speak with Hefti near the plane and choose “Got the Builder!”.
What Does the Builder Tool Do?
The Builder tool allows you to create structures in designated building areas.
On Lou’s Island, there is a roped-off building location next to the Lab.
You can use the Builder there to place different building pieces and create your own structures.
You do not need to spend a huge amount of time building if you are mainly interested in the story. However, the Builder is required for certain missions, so you will need to use it occasionally.
How to Manufacture a Manufacturer
Now we need to use the Builder to create a Manufacturer.
You need:
- 1 Dematerialization Core
- 5 Refined Metal
Hefti has already provided the Dematerialization Core.
For the Refined Metal, you can either collect 30 Scrap or spend Shellings to purchase Scrap.
Once you have the materials, go to the fenced building area next to the Refinery.
Press right on the D-pad to open the Builder menu.
Use the shoulder buttons to select Crafting Stations.
Cycle through the available options until you find Manufacturer.
Select it and place it inside the building area.
Once the Manufacturer has been built, return to Fidge and select “Got a Manufacturer!”.
In Turbines We Thrust
Your next objective is crafting 2 Thrust Bearings to repair the turbine.
For two Thrust Bearings, you need:
- 2 Refined Metal
- 6 Zananas
If you do not have enough Refined Metal, collect another 12 Scrap.
Finding Zananas
Zananas are located higher up on Lou’s Island.
The easiest route requires repairing a staircase.
First, craft 8 Refined Wood at the Refinery.
Head east from the Lab until you find the broken staircase.
Repair it using the Refined Wood.
Climb the stairs and then climb the vine directly ahead.
Climb another vine and head right.
You will find the Zanana trees, which look like slightly electrified palm trees.
Use your Swirler to collect Zananas.
Repairing the Turbine
Once you have the materials, return to the Manufacturer.
Select Thrust Bearing and craft two.
The turbine is located on the cliff above the Lab.
A simple route is climbing the ladder on the hut beside the Lab.
From there, move across the grassy rock platforms.
Remember that you can double jump by pressing X/A twice.
Eventually, you will reach a vine leading to the turbine.
Climb up and transfer the Thrust Bearings into the turbine.
Using the Job Board
Near the Lab on Lou’s Island, you can find a job board.
You can receive side quests by speaking with characters, but the job board can also provide additional tasks.
Jobs are not always available, but checking it regularly can give you opportunities to earn more Shellings and Spark Cores.
When you are ready, return to Hefti near the plane and agree to travel to Tanglebloom.
Gone With the Storm
Fly your plane south to Tanglebloom.
After landing, speak with Teslo, located to the right of the dock.
Choose the option asking whether he has seen Lou.
Next, find Chef Capri, sitting near the steps, and ask her the same question.
She tells you that Lou went up the stairs.
Climb the stairs and speak with Skipp at the top.
Continue following the information you receive and speak with Weez higher up.
Keep heading upward.
Eventually, move left until you find Pip.
Ask about Lou.
Pip tells you that he went down the stairs nearby.
Head down and speak with Archie.
After completing the conversation, you will be directed toward Norleaf.
Feast for the Kraken
Return to the pier and speak with Gondo.
You cannot immediately travel to Norleaf because you first need to deal with the Kraken.
Enter your plane.
Fly east toward the red mission marker.
Make sure Feast for the Kraken is selected.
Your first objective is collecting a Mountain Vine Fruit, which looks like a purple berry with yellow spots.
Fly close to one and press Square/X to collect it.
Next, follow the marker southwest toward the Kraken.
Fly very close to it and press Square/X to drop the fruit.
You need to hit the Kraken with the fruit.
If successful, a short scene confirms that it has received the berry.
You need to repeat this process until you have successfully dropped three Mountain Vine Fruits onto the Kraken.
Be careful when flying with the fruit. If your plane crashes, you lose it and must collect another.
After completing the objective, return to Tanglebloom Town and speak with Gondo.
A Sign of Lou
Speak with Gondo again and ask him to take you to Norleaf.
From the boat, follow the beach east until you find a cave.
Enter the cave.
Move generally northeast through the area.
You may encounter pirates, but you can defeat or avoid them.
Eventually, you will reach an Ancient Altar.
Interact with it.
Choose:
- Inspect the glyphs
- Look at the book page
- Translate the inscription
- Light and dark!
This gives you the required Sigil.
Leave the cave and return to the boat.
Travel back to Tanglebloom Town.
Find Archie again and speak with him.
Searching for the Wind Statue
The next destination is Gleam Reef.
Enter your plane and fly toward the north-northeast section of the map.
Once you arrive, speak with Cora.
You will discover that you need a Glider before continuing.
Return to Lou’s Island.
You can fly there normally or use Autopilot from the map.
Getting the Glider
To unlock the Glider, you need:
- 4 Bolstered Wood
- 1,200 Shellings
However, Bolstered Wood requires additional materials and upgrades.
You need more Spark Cores to unlock it, and you also need Swirler 2.0 so you can collect Woodthorn.
This means we need to complete some side quests first.
A Run-Down Harbor Side Quest
Speak with Jackie on Lou’s Island to start A Run-Down Harbor.
You need to deliver 8 Refined Stone to Tanglebloom Town.
Refined Stone is made from Pebbles.
You can collect Pebbles from the tall mushroom-like trees inside the cave on Lou’s Island.
Create the Refined Stone at the Refinery.
Travel to Tanglebloom Town and go to the pier at the back of the town.
Transfer the materials there and collect your reward.
Tanglebloom Spring Clean Side Quest
While you are in Tanglebloom, speak with Linnie near the plane landing area outside the Lab.
She gives you the Tanglebloom Spring Clean mission.
You need to collect:
- Nine tree trunks
- Knocked-over trash cans
Use your Swirler to pick them up.
Explore all levels of the town and check hidden areas around the beach.
Once everything has been collected, return to Linnie for your Shellings reward.
Fabulous Fashion Side Quest
Speak with Tammy while exploring Tanglebloom.
She needs materials to get her fashion store running again.
You need:
- 10 Refined Wood
- 6 Refined Metal
Return to Lou’s Island if necessary.
To craft everything, you need:
- 30 Driftwood
- 36 Scrap
Create the materials at the Refinery and return to Tanglebloom.
Transfer them to Tammy’s shop.
Stranger Stranding Side Quest
Back on Lou’s Island, speak with Wilson.
You can find him between the plane pier and Jackie’s Treasures.
He needs:
- 2 Thrust Bearings
- 10 Refined Wood
You need 30 Driftwood for the Refined Wood.
The Thrust Bearings require:
- 6 Zananas
- 2 Refined Metal
Create them at the Manufacturer.
Once you have everything, travel to the small island south of Lou’s Island.
You can swim there from the beach.
Look for the plume of smoke to find the correct location.
Transfer the materials into the broken boat.
The Famous Zanana Curry Side Quest
Speak with Granny outside the Lab.
Choose “The kids are hungry!”.
She needs:
- 20 Zananas
- 20 Heartberries
Both can be found on Lou’s Island.
Zananas grow on the electrified palm trees higher up the island.
Heartberries can be found on heart-shaped bushes.
Collect everything and return to Granny.
Tell her that you have the ingredients.
How to Upgrade the Swirler
Speak with Fidge to upgrade your tools.
For Swirler 2.0, you need:
- 4,250 Shellings
- 8 Magnetic Pulse Bolts
Magnetic Pulse Bolts are crafted at the Manufacturer.
You first need to unlock them with 2 Spark Cores.
Each Magnetic Pulse Bolt requires 2 Refined Metal.
For eight bolts, you need 16 Refined Metal, requiring 96 Scrap.
Lou’s Island and Norleaf are good places to collect Scrap.
You can purchase some from Jackie, but saving Shellings is probably better because the upgrade itself costs 4,250.
Create 16 Refined Metal at the Refinery.
Then craft 8 Magnetic Pulse Bolts at the Manufacturer.
They take some time to complete.
If you still need Shellings, sell crafted products to Jackie.
Once you have enough money, visit Fidge.
Choose “Need gadgets!” and unlock Swirler 2.0.
Finding Woodthorn
After unlocking Swirler 2.0, you can collect Woodthorn.
Search the higher grassy areas of Lou’s Island.
Woodthorn is a small, cone-shaped plant.
To create the 4 Bolstered Wood needed for the Glider, you need:
- 12 Refined Wood
- 12 Woodthorn
The Refined Wood requires 36 Driftwood.
Use the Refinery to create the 4 Bolstered Wood.
You still need 1,200 Shellings for the Glider.
Now that you have Swirler 2.0, you can collect Heavy Ore inside the cave on Lou’s Island.
Each piece is worth 100 Shellings, making it useful for earning money.
Once you have everything, speak with Fidge and unlock Glider 1.0.
How to Use the Glider
The Glider can be used with upward air currents and for crossing gaps.
Jump into an upward air jet and your character automatically uses the Glider.
To glide across a gap:
- Double jump.
- Press Square/X.
Returning to Gleam Reef
Fly back to Gleam Reef.
Once you arrive, jump into the upward air current to reach the higher section of the island.
At the top, black goo blocks your progress.
Move forward until you reach a Goo Pearl.
Use the Swirler to pull it out and remove the goo.
Look ahead and you should see the silver statue that you need to reach.
Drop down onto the beach.
Travel northwest until you find a stone path leading toward the settlement.
Follow the path north.
You will eventually find a pulsating pad that requires a Groove Herb.
There is a Groove Herb plant nearby.
Collect one, but save it instead of immediately using it on the first pad.
Continue exploring and collect additional Groove Herbs whenever you find them.
Keep moving until you find another pulsating pad that is already active.
Use it to travel upward toward the statue.
Climb the vine and interact with the statue.
Choose to inspect the socket.
Bad Omen
Drop down and head north until you reach a small cove.
You will find another pulsating pad.
Use a Groove Herb and ride the platform upward.
At the top, remove another Goo Pearl.
Head slightly north and drop onto the platform below.
Here you will discover Lou’s crashed plane stuck in a tree.
Look up and interact with it.
An Ominous Trail
After investigating the plane, look for footprints on the ground.
Follow them.
The trail crosses a river and eventually leads to a door surrounded by goo.
You cannot access the door yet.
Return near Lou’s plane and find the nearby vine.
Climb upward and move northwest.
You will find another pulsating pad.
Use a Groove Herb to travel upward.
At the top, remove another Goo Pearl.
Drop down and swim across the lake.
On the other side, head south.
You will find another Goo Pearl.
Remove it.
This clears the goo blocking the door.
Drop down and interact with the gate.
Choose “Inspect the gate”.
The Voice of Wind
Return to the main settlement.
An easy way to return is opening the settings menu and choosing “I am stuck!”, which sends you back to the plane.
Find the house east of the platform where you first dropped down after entering the island.
Go inside and speak with Scypho.
Ask “Get into the cave?”.
Choose “Into the storm!” when prompted.
You now need to fly directly into the storm to record it.
Return to your plane.
The huge storm is south of the island.
Fly directly into its centre.
After a few seconds, you receive confirmation that the recording was successful.
Fly back north and land on Gleam Reef.
Return to the wind door.
Interact with it and select “Insert the cassette”.
Into the Pirates’ Den
Enter the newly opened door and move into the cave.
Follow the wooden walkways.
At the end, drop down and cross the rope bridge.
After crossing, open the chest.
You will be trapped and ambushed by pirates.
Defeat them to continue.
Do not forget to open the chest afterward, as it contains 3,000 Shellings.
Continue along the wooden paths.
Eventually, you meet a larger pirate named Bartholomew.
Complete the conversation.
You then need to defeat two regular pirates.
After winning, search the area for a book resting on a wooden platform.
Interact with it before leaving.
Gleam Reef Side Missions
Before leaving Gleam Reef, I recommend exploring and completing some of the side missions.
Several missions involve rescuing people from goo, and you will need Spark Cores later in the story.
The available side missions include:
- All Goo and No Chill
- Smoke on the Horizon
- Goo Yard
- Herbs to Get the Groove On
- Stuck in the Goo
- Fresh Water
- Pirates!
- They Don’t See Me Rollin’
- An Inconspicuous Delivery
The Quest for the Wave Statue
Before travelling to the next island, we need another tool: the Scooper.
Return to Lou’s Island.
To unlock Scooper 1.0, you need:
- 1,500 Shellings
- 4 Thrust Bearings
The Thrust Bearings require:
- 4 Refined Metal
- 12 Zananas
Craft them at the Manufacturer.
Speak with Fidge.
Choose “Need gadgets” and unlock Scooper 1.0.
How to Use the Scooper
The Scooper allows you to locate objects hidden underground.
Press down on the D-pad.
Nearby hidden objects will become illuminated.
When you find an object, move close to it and use the right trigger with your Swirler to pull it out.
Travelling to Boulderia
Enter your plane and fly northwest to Boulderia.
After landing, move straight ahead to find a door.
Try to enter and choose “Hello?”.
You will speak with a creature named Brakka.
Ask him about the Wave Statue.
Speak with him again and ask why it is dark behind the door.
Where Sunshine?
Head east and follow the island’s path while gradually moving upward.
Eventually, you reach a fallen log.
Press down on the D-pad to activate the Scooper.
You will see underground pipes highlighted.
Look for the round object inside the pipe system.
Pull it out using your Swirler.
This activates a water jet nearby.
Ride the water upward.
You will find a small building with a Goo Pearl on top.
Remove the Goo Pearl.
This lights up the previously dark cave entrance.
Inside Gorplin
You will return near the bottom of the island.
Go through the now-accessible door.
Inside, head north toward the small settlement.
Find Bram, who is sitting on a barrel near the bar.
Speak with him.
Soaked Burgers
The island is flooded, and your next task involves finding burgers.
Find Brok inside the restaurant east of your location.
Speak with him and ask about the burgers.
You need to repair a leak.
For this, you need 16 Beever Oil.
Leave the cave and head upward on the island until you encounter Beevers.
Use your Swirler on them to collect Beever Oil.
Three Beevers should provide enough oil.
If needed, there are also Beevers inside the cave.
Return to Brok’s restaurant.
Find the leak above you and transfer the Beever Oil.
Speak with Brok again after repairing the pipes.
He gives you the burgers.
The Greatest Sacrifice
Leave the cave.
Head northeast until you find a small boat.
Transfer the burgers onto the boat.
A short cutscene follows.
Powerless
Drop down the ledge south of the area and find Bree.
Speak with Bree and tell them Brakka sent you.
You need to find 2 Generator Parts.
Use the Scooper near the Radio Tower.
Press down and look for purple, box-shaped outlines underground.
Once you have both Generator Parts, return to the generator near Bree.
Transfer both parts into it.
Then travel back up the island and speak with Brakka.
Tell him that the power has returned.
Completing Boulderia Side Missions
The next main objective requires a lot of crafting and Spark Cores.
Because of this, it is a good idea to complete some Boulderia side quests before moving forward.
Recommended missions include:
- Hot Sawdust
- Between a Rock and a Sugarcrystal
- The Sugarcrystal is Cast
- Sugar Cubes
- Heat up the Chains
You need to create three Power Sources for the next major objective.
How to Make a Power Source
Power Sources are crafted using the Manufacturer.
Each one requires:
- 1 Energy Pearl
- 2 Pulsanite
Making Energy Pearls
Energy Pearls require:
- 1 Goo Pearl
- 6 Zananas
- 1 Microchip
Making Pulsanite
Pulsanite requires:
- 2 Pulsitium
- 4 Heavy Ore
You also need enough Spark Cores to unlock the necessary crafting recipes.
To unlock everything required, you need approximately 29 Spark Cores.
If you completed the recommended Gleam Reef and Boulderia side quests, you should have enough.
If not, The Grand Opening mission in Tanglebloom Town is another option.
Crafting the Energy Pearls
You need three Energy Pearls, requiring:
- 3 Goo Pearls
- 18 Zananas
- 3 Microchips
You should have Goo Pearls from clearing Gleam Reef.
Zananas can be found on Lou’s Island.
Making Microchips
Each Microchip requires:
- 4 Circuitry
- 1 Bronze Scale
Circuitry can be found on Norleaf.
Travel there and use your Scooper.
Look for objects resembling old computers.
For Bronze Scales, you need the Fishing Rod.
The Fishing Rod costs 1,500 Shellings and can be purchased from Fidge.
How to Use the Fishing Rod
Equip the Fishing Rod by pressing left on the D-pad.
Approach a body of water.
Hold the right trigger to deploy it.
If fish are nearby, keep using the right trigger to attract them.
If no fish appear, retract the rod with Circle/B and try another location.
When a fish bites, keep holding R2.
Move the thumbstick in the opposite direction from the fish’s pull to reel it in.
After collecting the materials, craft three Microchips at the Manufacturer.
Then create three Energy Pearls at the Refinery.
Making Pulsanite
You need six Pulsanite.
Collect:
- 24 Heavy Ore
- 12 Pulsitium
Heavy Ore can be found inside the cave on Lou’s Island.
Pulsitium can be found on Gleam Reef and looks like pink, bowl-shaped coral.
Craft the six Pulsanite at the Refinery.
Finally, use the Manufacturer to create 3 Power Sources.
Returning to Boulderia
Fly back to Boulderia.
You now need to place the three Power Sources into lasers.
The First Laser
The laser near Brakka is the easiest.
Simply travel up the island and place the Power Source.
The Balloon Laser
The second laser requires more platforming.
Head to the northern platform.
Collect nearby Sugarcrystals.
Glide toward the floating construction.
Use the Sugarcrystals to build the ladder.
Climb upward.
Continue through the ladders, boxes, vines, and gliding sections until you reach the laser.
The Boat Laser
The final laser appears difficult, but there is a simple method.
Swim toward the boat.
Wait for the nearby moving platform to lower into the water.
Swim onto it.
The platform lifts you upward, allowing you to glide onto the boat and reach the laser.
After activating all three lasers, return to Brakka.
Tell him that the chains are glowing.
Boulderia Unchained
Enter your plane.
Fly directly into the three chains.
If the mission is selected, they are highlighted on your minimap.
You do not need to perform any special action.
Simply fly into each chain.
Ignore the Square/X landing prompt.
After hitting all three, return to Boulderia.
Enter the cave and find Bram.
Tell him that the water level has gone down.
The Path to Illumination
Head north from Bram and drop into the large cavern.
You will see another generator.
It needs 2 Generator Parts.
Use the Scooper to search the nearby area.
One part may be near the generator, while another requires climbing vines.
Transfer both parts into the generator.
Now you need to make your way to the top of the cave.
Use the lifts and minecarts to continue upward.
Your target is a central platform where you can glide toward the illuminated globe.
Enter the globe.
Speak with Grim.
Complete the dialogue.
You receive the Wave Cassette.
Rising From the Waves
Leave the cave and travel to the northern beach.
Find the boombox.
Insert the Wave Cassette.
A crab appears.
Swim to it and climb onto its back.
Interact with the Wave Statue.
Go through the dialogue and ask for Wave’s help.
Return to your plane.
Soon after taking off, you receive a message about pirates attacking.
Fly north toward the airships.
After the cutscene, you need to attack using Goo Pearls.
Collect Goo Pearls by pressing Square/X when close to them.
Fly above an airship and press Square/X to drop the Goo Pearl.
You need to hit four airships.
The storm can make flying difficult, but being directly above the target makes the attack easier.
Where Light and Dark Embrace
After defeating the airships, you are directed toward the Island of Soussom through Tanglebloom Town.
Before going there, however, you need Swirler 3.0.
Return to Lou’s Island.
How to Get Swirler 3.0
The upgrade requires:
- 8 Dematerialization Cores
- 20,000 Shellings
A Dematerialization Core requires:
- 1 Void Fragment
- 2 Refined Metal
For eight Cores, you need:
- 8 Void Fragments
- 16 Refined Metal
The Refined Metal requires 96 Scrap.
Making Void Fragments
Each Void Fragment requires:
- 2 Heavy Ore
- 1 Gold Potato
For eight Void Fragments, collect:
- 16 Heavy Ore
- 8 Gold Potatoes
Heavy Ore can be found inside the Lou’s Island cave.
Gold Potatoes can be found on the beach using the Scooper.
Once everything is collected, create the 8 Dematerialization Cores at the Manufacturer.
Then visit Fidge and unlock Swirler 3.0.
Finding the Path to Soussom
Travel to Tanglebloom Town.
From the plane jetty, head east toward the beach.
Follow the coastline until you find a door in the rocks.
Go through it.
Follow the corridor until you reach a bricked-up doorway.
Use your upgraded Swirler to break through.
Continue through the cave.
Eventually, you reach a wind door that opens automatically.
Go through and continue to the next door.
This brings you to Soussom.
Leaving the cave triggers a cutscene.
From the cave entrance, turn right and climb the staircase.
Climb the nearby vine.
Continue around the edge of the platforms until you reach the top.
You will see a pirate encampment below.
Glide down into it.
The Final Pirate Battle
After the cutscene, prepare for a fight.
You need to battle pirates, including a larger pirate enemy.
Eventually, the larger pirate protects itself with a bubble.
You need to throw 30 Goo Pearls at the bubble.
Unfortunately, Goo Pearls already in your inventory cannot be used for this objective.
You need to collect 30 new Goo Pearls by defeating pirates in this area.
The fight can become busy, but remember that you cannot permanently die.
After feeding all 30 Goo Pearls into the protective bubble, fight the large pirate one final time.
Defeat him and continue through the conversation with Lou.
Completing Lou’s Lagoon
Behind Lou is a large statue.
Interact with it.
Insert the following sigils:
- Sigil of Light and Dark
- Wind Sigil
- Wave Sigil
After the following cutscene, speak with Lou.
Choose to return to Lou’s Island and complete the remaining dialogue.
That completes the main story of Lou’s Lagoon.
Of course, your adventure does not have to stop there. You can still explore the islands, finish side quests, repair and build radio towers, search for treasure chests, collect materials, and spend more time experimenting with the game’s crafting systems.
Take your time exploring everything that is left and enjoy finishing the rest of your journey through Lou’s Lagoon.
