The Insectagram is one of the largest collectible activities introduced in Dave the Diver: In The Jungle. While most players focus on catching fish, upgrading equipment, and expanding the new jungle restaurant, the DLC also hides dozens of insects and beetles throughout the village, forests, temples, waterfalls, and desert-like regions.
Completing the Insectagram requires patience, exploration, and in some cases, mastery of the beetle battle mini-game. Some insects only appear during certain times of day, while several rare beetles require repeated visits to specific locations before they finally spawn.
This guide covers every insect and beetle currently available in the Insectagram, along with tips on where to find them and the easiest ways to capture them.
Dave the Diver In The Jungle Insect Guide – All Locations
There are two types of entries in the Insectagram:
- Standard Insects
- Beetles
Standard insects are relatively simple to obtain. When you spot one, slowly approach it and use your insect net before it flies away. Moving too quickly can scare insects off, so taking your time is important.
Beetles are completely different.
Instead of catching them directly, you must challenge them to a beetle battle. These battles function similarly to a Rock-Paper-Scissors system where both beetles attack and defend until one side loses all of its health.
Winning the battle captures the beetle and adds it to your collection.
Because of this, collecting every beetle requires both exploration and successful battles.
All Standard Insect Locations
Ulysses Swallowtail
Location: Setah Forest
One of the first forest butterflies most players will encounter. It can usually be spotted flying around the open areas of Setah Forest during normal exploration.
Loquinianus Swallowtail
Location: Sand Dunes
Found in the sandy area above the beach. To reach this location, climb the ladder leading away from the shoreline and explore the dune region.
Gigon Swallowtail
Location: Surga Falls
This butterfly becomes available after unlocking the machete.
Use the machete to clear the vines blocking the path beyond the Sand Dunes. Continue toward Surga Falls and search around the waterfall area.
Mountain Yellow Butterfly
Location: Village
A common butterfly that frequently appears around the village paths and buildings.
Albina White Butterfly
Location: Village
Another village butterfly that can often be found near open grassy areas.
Blanchard’s Giant Striped Monarch
Location: Setah Forest
This larger butterfly is easier to spot thanks to its size and distinctive wing pattern.
Blue-Banded Nymph Butterfly
Location: Setah Forest
Look around the central forest paths and open clearings.
Three-Lined Butterfly
Location: Setah Forest
Frequently appears alongside several other butterfly species within the forest region.
Mulciber Spotted Monarch Butterfly
Location: Setah Forest
A rarer butterfly that may require a few visits before it appears.
Giant Tiger Butterfly
Location: Village
One of the larger butterfly species found around the village.
Priamus Birdwing Butterfly
Location: Setah Forest
A beautiful butterfly with large wings that is usually easy to notice once it spawns.
Rajah Brooke’s Birdwing Butterfly
Location: Setah Forest
Availability: Dusk Only
This butterfly only appears during dusk, making timing extremely important. If it isn’t appearing during daytime visits, return later in the evening.
Moth
Location: Village
Availability: Night Only
Search near village lights and structures after sunset.
Atlas Moth
Location: Surga Falls (Recommended)
Although the Insectagram lists the Village as its location, many players consistently find this insect around Surga Falls during the evening.
If you are struggling to locate it in the village, head to Surga Falls before spending time searching elsewhere.
Takua Cicada
Location: Village
Unlike butterflies, this insect is usually attached to trees. Listen carefully and inspect nearby trunks.
Stick Insect
Location: Village
This insect is one of the easiest to miss.
While chopping trees in the village, a Stick Insect may suddenly fall from the trunk. Wait for it to stop moving before attempting to capture it with your net.
Gigas Giant Longhorn Beetle
Location: Village
Head toward the northwest corner of the village near Rimbo’s truck.
This insect typically remains in that area and is fairly easy to spot.
Diving Beetle
Location: Village Beach
Unlike most insects, the Diving Beetle is found on the water near the beach. Search along the shoreline rather than inland areas.
Firefly
Location: Village
Availability: Night Only
Fireflies only appear after dark and can often be seen glowing around the village.
All Beetle Locations
Unlike normal insects, every beetle listed below must be defeated in a beetle battle before it can be added to your collection.
Lesser Stag Beetle
Location: Village
Often one of the first beetles players encounter.
Zebra Stag Beetle
Location: Village
Recognizable thanks to its unique striped appearance.
Five-Horned Rhinoceros Beetle
Location: Village
A powerful rhinoceros beetle commonly found around village areas.
Siamese Rhinoceros Beetle
Location: Village
Another village beetle that frequently appears during exploration.
Striata Stag Beetle
Location: Sand Dunes
Found in the elevated dune area above the beach.
Gideon Beetle
Location: Sand Dunes
Search throughout the dune pathways and surrounding vegetation.
Stevens’ Stag Beetle
Location: Sand Dunes
Another beetle species native to the sandy region.
Rosenberg’s Golden Stag Beetle
Location: Murau Temple
Availability: Daytime
This beetle can be frustrating to obtain because of its spawn conditions.
Enter the Murau Temple and check the upper-right section. If it is not present, leave the area and re-enter repeatedly until it appears.
Giraffe Stag Beetle
Location: Setah Forest
A distinctive forest beetle that can usually be found while exploring deeper sections of the jungle.
Antaeus Stag Beetle
Location: Murau Temple
Availability: Daytime
Like Rosenberg’s Golden Stag Beetle, repeated entry and exit of the temple may be necessary to force a spawn.
Femoralis Stag Beetle
Location: Setah Forest
One of several stag beetle species living within the forest region.
Metallic Stag Beetle
Location: Murau Temple
Availability: Dusk Only
This is one of the more time-sensitive beetles in the DLC.
Visit Murau Temple at dusk and continue checking the upper-right corner until it appears.
Atlas Stag Beetle
Location: Murau Temple
Availability: Daytime
Another temple-exclusive beetle that may require several reload attempts.
Giant Stag Beetle
Location: Setah Forest
A larger and more intimidating beetle commonly found deeper within the forest.
Caucasus Beetle
Location: Setah Forest
Availability: Dusk Only
Found near the entrance to Murau Temple.
Because it only appears during dusk, many players accidentally miss it while exploring during daytime hours.
Flamecrest Stag Beetle
Location: Setah Forest
This beetle is tied to the side quest “A Giant Stag Beetle?”
You must progress through that questline before the Flamecrest Stag Beetle becomes available.
