Dave the Diver: In The Jungle takes players away from the familiar Blue Hole and into the mysterious Utara region, where a massive lake, ancient ruins, dangerous creatures, and an entirely new restaurant system await. Unlike the base game, the DLC introduces new progression mechanics, village relationships, resource gathering, crafting systems, and the Hydrogen Sulfide hazard that limits how deep you can explore.
This Dave the Diver In The Jungle walkthrough covers everything from arriving in Utara Village to obtaining the Ancient Breathing Apparatus at the end of Chapter 2.
Dave the Diver In The Jungle Walkthrough and Complete Guide
Before the DLC can begin, you must meet two requirements:
- Own the In The Jungle DLC.
- Complete the main storyline of Dave the Diver.
After completing the main story, a special event will trigger the following day.
To a New Place
The adventure begins when Dr. Bacon visits Dave and asks for help investigating a nearby region where strange discoveries have been made.
Bacon also wants Bancho to join the expedition.
Head to Bancho Sushi and speak with Bancho. After a brief conversation, Bancho agrees to accompany the group.
Once preparations are complete:
- Open Dave’s phone.
- Call Dr. Bacon.
- Confirm that you are ready to leave.
A cutscene will play, officially beginning the journey to Utara Village.
Welcome to the Jungle
After arriving at the beach, the group is greeted by Rimbo, one of the local villagers.
Rimbo drives everyone toward Utara Village while explaining rumors about a mysterious ancient creature that has recently been sighted near the lake.
Upon arrival, several important characters are introduced:
- Muna
- Panutah
- Rimbo
Panutah serves as the village chief and offers Bancho a meal after the long trip.
Unfortunately for him, Bancho is less than impressed with the food.
Instead of accepting the criticism quietly, Bancho boldly promises to create a meal so delicious that the chief will completely change his opinion.
To accomplish this, Bancho asks Dave to catch a specific fish: Tilapia.
Before setting out, Muna provides Dave with a special weapon that will be used throughout the DLC.
The Jungle Gun
Unlike the Blue Hole, traditional weapons are unavailable in Utara.
Instead, Dave receives the Jungle Gun.
The Jungle Gun can switch between four different forms at any time.
Rifle
The Rifle is the most balanced option.
It offers:
- Good damage
- Decent range
- Large ammo capacity
This is usually the safest choice for everyday exploration.
Shotgun
The Shotgun specializes in close-range combat.
Benefits include:
- High damage
- Multiple projectiles
- Strong against aggressive fish
The downside is a much smaller ammo reserve.
Sniper Rifle
The Sniper Rifle excels at long-range encounters.
Advantages include:
- Excellent range
- Powerful shots
- Precision hunting
Its primary weakness is extremely limited ammunition.
Net Gun
The Net Gun allows Dave to capture many fish alive.
Live captures generally provide better quality ingredients and should not be ignored.
As the DLC progresses, every Jungle Gun form can be upgraded through Mina, making them significantly stronger.
The Village with Bad Food
With the introductions complete, Chapter 1 officially begins.
Before pursuing the main objective, spend some time walking around Utara Village.
This is more important than it may initially seem.
Village Friendships
Many villagers offer side missions that increase friendship levels.
Completing these friendship quests provides several benefits:
- Additional rewards
- More income opportunities
- Access to future story progression
- Additional Bancho Grill customers
Several later story sections require specific friendship levels, so starting early saves a lot of time later.
Whenever possible:
- Talk to villagers.
- Accept side quests.
- Increase relationship levels.
Doing so will make future chapters much easier.
Jungle Chef
The first major objective is catching a Tilapia.
Head toward the dock near Dave’s shack and dive into the lake.
This introduces one of the DLC’s most important mechanics.
Hydrogen Sulfide
The lake is contaminated by Hydrogen Sulfide.
At the beginning of the DLC, Dave cannot safely explore deeper areas.
Entering dangerous zones without proper equipment will quickly drain oxygen and eventually force Dave back to the surface.
Because of this limitation, early exploration remains focused on shallow waters.
Finding Tilapia
Fortunately, Tilapia is one of the easiest fish to locate.
After entering the lake:
- Swim toward the center of the map.
- Continue moving right.
- Locate the rocky formation with a tunnel.
- Swim through the tunnel.
On the opposite side, you’ll find Tilapia swimming near the surface.
Catch at least one.
Personally, I strongly recommend spending extra time gathering additional fish before returning. Time does not pass while diving, and having extra ingredients becomes extremely useful once Bancho Grill opens.
After obtaining Tilapia, return to the village and speak with Bancho.
Lathi and Ingredients
Following the Tilapia delivery, players meet Lathi.
Lathi operates the village herb and spice shop.
Her inventory becomes an important source of ingredients for Bancho Grill recipes.
Additional ingredients can be found through:
- Exploration
- Pots inside the lake
- Fruit trees around the village
Building a stockpile early makes future cooking much easier.
Opening Bancho Grill
Bancho prepares a special Tilapia dish for Panutah.
After tasting it, the village chief is immediately impressed.
This officially unlocks Bancho Grill.
Unlike Bancho Sushi, the Grill uses a more active service system where Dave moves freely around the restaurant while assisting customers.
Once service ends, Dave returns to his shack and the first chapter concludes.
Jungle Life
The second chapter dramatically expands exploration by introducing the Purification Filter.
Muna’s Research
The following morning, Muna asks Dave to assist with her archaeological investigations.
To help him survive deeper portions of the lake, Mina provides a Purification Filter.
Purification Filter
The Purification Filter protects Dave from Hydrogen Sulfide contamination.
A new meter appears beside the oxygen gauge.
While inside contaminated zones:
- Filter durability decreases.
- Once empty, protection disappears.
- Hydrogen Sulfide immediately becomes dangerous.
Managing filter durability becomes just as important as managing oxygen.
The filter can also be upgraded throughout the DLC.
Higher-level filters allow exploration of increasingly dangerous depths.
Recovering the Sculpture
Muna’s first research task is recovering a submerged sculpture.
To find it:
- Enter the lake.
- Travel toward the central rocky structure.
- Descend through the opening.
- Enter the first contaminated area.
- Turn left.
The sculpture is easy to identify thanks to the exclamation mark above it.
Collect it and prepare to return.
Dinosaur Bone Fragments
Before leaving, search the deeper area carefully.
You will find strange fossilized remains covered in yellow-green residue.
These are Dinosaur Bone Fragments.
Collect at least three before surfacing.
They are required for future filter upgrades.
Returning the sculpture rewards Dave with 50 Doni.
The Legend in the Mural
Immediately afterward, Muna begins investigating three ancient Stone Tablets hidden deep within the lake.
To photograph them, Dave must first improve the Purification Filter.
Upgrading the Filter
The first upgrade requires:
- 3 Dinosaur Bone Fragments
- 70 Doni
If you collected the fragments earlier, you only need additional Doni from Bancho Grill.
Complete one evening of service and return to Muna.
The Crude Filter can now be upgraded into an Improved Filter.
Coconut Service
Bancho Grill also introduces Coconut requests.
When customers request coconuts:
- Approach the customer.
- Complete the cutting QTE.
- Finish the timing mini-game.
Successful completion improves customer satisfaction and earnings.
Bancho Grill Rating System
As the Grill grows, a rating system becomes available.
Higher ratings unlock:
- More customers
- Additional perks
- Staff hiring options
- Increased profitability
Keep improving the Grill whenever possible.
The bonuses are worth the effort.
Uzme and Side Missions
During the evening, Dave meets Uzme.
This event unlocks the village side mission system.
Completing side missions:
- Increases friendship.
- Unlocks more Grill customers.
- Provides resources.
- Awards Doni.
Three fully befriended villagers are required later for story progression.
Starting these quests early prevents unnecessary grinding.
The Old House
A storm reveals that Dave’s shack roof is leaking.
Cobra offers to repair it if Dave provides materials.
Required materials:
- 2 Vines
- 5 Bangkirai Wood
Obtaining Bangkirai Wood
Visit Peneb the carpenter.
He provides an Axe.
Use it to chop glowing Bangkirai trees near the eastern side of the village.
Gather enough wood and return to Cobra.
Once repairs are completed:
- Dave’s house improves.
- Decoration options become available.
- Additional missions unlock.
Bancho’s Cooking Tools
After repairing the shack, Cobra suggests helping Bancho upgrade the Grill.
Bancho requests a Skewer Grill.
Peneb agrees to build one but needs:
- 3 Stone
To obtain Stone, Dave needs a Pickaxe.
Perak’s Pickaxe
Visit Perak the blacksmith.
Before handing over a Pickaxe, he requests:
- 3 Bamboo Shoots
These are located behind Peneb’s workshop.
Collect them and return to Perak.
The Pickaxe becomes permanently available.
Mining Stone
Once equipped:
- Locate stone deposits around the village.
- Mine three Stone.
- Deliver them to Peneb.
Peneb then crafts the Skewer Grill.
After installation, Bancho Grill gains an entirely new cooking mechanic.
Skewer Cooking
Some customers request skewers.
When this occurs:
- Approach the Grill.
- Select an ingredient.
- Wait for cooking to finish.
- Deliver the skewer.
Higher-value ingredients produce better profits, making resource management increasingly important.
Stone Tablet Locations
With the Improved Filter equipped, Dave can finally investigate the murals.
Stone Tablet One
Descend through the first opening from the left.
Continue downward until approximately 45 meters.
Travel all the way left.
The tablet sits near a coconut.
Stone Tablet Two
From Tablet One:
- Travel right.
- Pass the Electric Eel.
- Cross the nearby opening.
The second tablet appears around 50 meters deep.
Stone Tablet Three
The third tablet is the most difficult to locate.
Starting from the surface:
- Enter the fourth opening from the left.
- Immediately take the first passage to the right.
- Pass the Goliath Tigerfish.
- Descend through the opening beneath it.
- Continue to the bottom.
The final tablet sits roughly 47 meters below the surface.
When photographing it, avoid excessive zoom because part of the mural lies broken on the floor beside it.
Ancient Diving Gear
Returning with all photographs advances the story.
Muna concludes that the murals reference an ancient breathing device hidden at the bottom of the lake.
To reach it, the filter must be upgraded again.
Requirements:
- 3 Dinosaur Vertebra
- 1 Dinosaur Skull
- 150 Doni
Upgrade the filter to the Advanced Purification Filter.
Marinca Bloom
Before continuing, Dave gains access to Marinca Bloom.
This system expands fish collection and progression.
By:
- Catching fish
- Exploring
- Walking
- Completing activities
Players gradually grow special flowers that provide rewards.
Think of it as an expanded version of the original Marinca system.
Ancient Breathing Apparatus Location
To reach the apparatus:
- Enter the first opening from the left.
- Descend toward the first tablet area.
- Move right past the Electric Eel.
- Take the first downward passage.
- Continue descending until reaching the lake floor.
The Ancient Breathing Apparatus rests at the bottom.
After collecting it, an earthquake reveals another important item nearby.
Sunang Stone
A glowing stone becomes exposed beneath nearby branches.
Clear the branches and collect the stone.
This item is known as a Sunang Stone.
Sunang Stones become important later because they unlock powerful weapon upgrades.
Return to Muna with:
- The Ancient Breathing Apparatus
- The Sunang Stone
Muna confirms both discoveries are connected to the ancient Sunang civilization.
The Apparatus supports her theories about ancient underwater exploration, while the Sunang Stone opens the door to future weapon improvements.
