Worming from Home Promotion Guide – Workdays, Contract

In this post, we will tell you how the promotion progression works in Worming from Home, including managing your workdays, completing spreadsheets, buying the right upgrades, handling the contract, and preparing for the final job interview.

The promotion system can feel confusing because the game gives you several things to do at once. You may have deadlines on the calendar, a persistent Action Item for your larger promotion goal, and optional activities such as training, investing, or shopping. We need to know which task actually matters next instead of randomly clearing everything we see.

In this guide, I will go through the promotion chain step by step, from your first workday and calendar tasks to the printer, contract, expense report, and final interview. If you get stuck, understanding the dependency behind each objective will usually tell you exactly what we need to do next.

Worming from Home Promotion Guide – Workdays, Contract

The wall board is not simply one large to-do list. The dated cards on the calendar handle your normal assignments, while the smaller Action Items section usually carries the larger progression objective.

An official launch screenshot shows normal assignments such as filling out a spreadsheet, replying to Steve, investing, and buying the Reading Nook while the persistent Action Item asks you to buy the L-Desk. We can think of these as three separate queues.

First, protect the closest deadline. If a card has a specific day and time, that is usually the task you should pay attention to before spending the afternoon shopping or training.

Second, identify your current promotion blocker. Read the Action Item and check any message from your boss. If the game wants you to buy furniture or equipment, completing more spreadsheets may only be helping you earn the money needed for that purchase.

Third, use optional systems only when they help remove a specific obstacle. Train when movement or income is slowing you down, invest when you already have enough money protected for the next required purchase, and leave side activities until the important work chain is safe.

Promotion milestones in normal mode are persistent, while smaller assignments can expire after a day or two. That does not mean the promotion milestone should automatically be your first job every morning.

A reliable routine is:

  1. Check the nearest deadline.
  2. Read the current Action Item.
  3. Use work, income, or training to remove the next blocker.

After completing something, return to the wall and check again. A new dependency may have replaced the one you just finished.

Do not treat the amount of clutter on the calendar as a completion meter. A birthday reminder, optional purchase, stock task, and promotion milestone can all appear together. The important question is not, “How do I clear the entire board?”

Instead, ask yourself:

“Which card expires first, and what physical object does my promotion require next?”

The Opening Should End at the Calendar, Not the Shop

Your first computer login teaches you how most later tasks work.

You need to physically move the mouse, click the login field, and use the real keyboard one key at a time. The password is written on the note below the monitor:

worm123

If the desktop does not open, make sure the entire password is inside the field and that you submitted the final input. A worm sitting on a key does not automatically mean the login has been completed.

The boss call introduces your promotion goal, but the call does not decide everything you should do for the rest of the day.

Hang up when instructed, let Tippy reveal the calendar, and read the deadline on your first work card.

The early desk loop moves between three main locations:

  • The wall for the task
  • The mouse for the program
  • The keyboard for the answer

After finishing something, returning to the wall is usually much faster than guessing which application changed.

Messages also have their own submission state.

Typing a response into the text field is not enough. You need to press Enter and confirm that the message actually appears in the conversation.

If a reply objective remains active, check the chat before walking back to the calendar. An unsent message and an incorrect reply can leave you with the same result: no progress.

Falling from the desk normally resets your worm rather than advancing anything. During a timed assignment, treat the desk edge as a time penalty.

Before making a long trip across the keyboard, point the mouse toward the correct app and remember the target cell or contact. If you fall, you will not have to search for everything again.

Solve the Instruction, Not the Spreadsheet Interface

Every spreadsheet file gives you one direct instruction on the right side of the monitor.

Click the named destination cell, perform the requested action, and wait for File Complete!

Early jobs may only ask you to enter a number. Later files can require arithmetic, copying, pasting, bold formatting, or italics.

The important thing to remember is that arithmetic does not work like normal desktop Excel.

If the instruction tells you to enter B1 multiplied by C4 into A2, read the values in B1 and C4, calculate the answer yourself, and type the final number into A2.

Entering:

=B1*C4

does not complete that task.

The same rule applies to addition and subtraction. The game wants the final result rather than an Excel formula.

For copy, paste, and formatting jobs, select the correct source or destination cell before leaving the mouse.

The small cube dice beside the monitor work as modifier-key tools.

Place a cube on the left Ctrl key and then press:

  • B for bold
  • I for italics
  • C for copy
  • V for paste

Arrow keys can also move the active cell when returning to the mouse would be inconvenient.

If the Ctrl shortcuts are not working, check these four things:

  1. Make sure the correct cell is selected.
  2. Confirm the cube is holding down the left Ctrl key.
  3. Make sure Caps Lock is turned off.
  4. Press the command key after Ctrl is active.

The developer identified Caps Lock as the cause of an earlier modifier-input problem. Turning it off remains a good troubleshooting step if your keyboard commands are behaving strangely.

The best confirmation is always File Complete! followed by the immediate payment increase.

If neither appears, do not start another spreadsheet yet.

You may have:

  • Entered the correct number into the wrong cell.
  • Copied something without pasting it.
  • Applied formatting to the wrong cell.

Fix the current file first.

Spend Money Only When It Removes the Next Physical Gate

The shop contains several different types of purchases.

You can find progression equipment, convenience upgrades, training furniture, income systems, and cosmetic items.

Because of this, buying the cheapest available item first can be a mistake. You might spend money on something optional and then discover that the printer or camera you actually need is now further away.

Always read the current Action Item first.

Find the object it requires and protect enough money for that purchase before spending on side activities.

The Stabilized Mouse and Slim Keyboard mainly reduce input frustration.

The Reading Nook and Worm Weights unlock training minigames.

The reading activity works similarly to Snake, while the weights activity resembles Breakout.

Training gives you perk points that can improve movement or earnings.

These systems become useful when your worm cannot reliably reach a device or when earning enough money for the next purchase is taking too long.

However, training is not a replacement for buying the object named by your promotion milestone.

Interns can eventually turn some work into passive income, but they cannot:

  • Operate the printer
  • Sign your contract
  • Show an object to the webcam
  • Complete the final interview

The Wormhole and Smartphone also belong to separate activities. You can leave them unfinished while continuing your promotion route unless your current Action Item specifically requires one of them.

I also would not put promotion money into stocks just because a line appears to be rising.

Market movement is largely random, and extreme news events can cause sudden drops or jumps.

Treat the news as a risk signal rather than a guaranteed investment strategy.

Buy the next required desk object first. If you have money left over, then you can experiment with the market.

Sleeping early in the plant pot can give you a small benefit for the next day, but sleep also advances the calendar.

Before ending the day, always check:

  • Your nearest deadline
  • Whether typed messages were actually sent
  • Whether completed files showed their success screen

A small buff will not help if an assignment expires overnight.

Turn the Printer Into a Document Route

The contract becomes one of the major progression points because a normal office document turns into a multi-step physical task.

The chain works through several separate dependencies.

You need to:

  1. Obtain the printer.
  2. Reach the printer controls.
  3. Print the document.
  4. Use a pen to sign it.
  5. Scan or return the signed document as the current objective requires.

The printer controls are located on top of the machine.

If your worm cannot reach high enough to see the print options, the solution is not necessarily another computer application.

You may need better movement, a stronger jump, useful furniture, or simply a better route to the top of the printer.

Train or adjust your desk setup until you can reach the controls, then move carefully across the top until the interaction prompts appear.

Once the document has been printed, bring the pen to the signature area and wait for the page state to change.

Scribbling somewhere else may look correct without actually registering.

After the signature is accepted, move the page to the scanner or printer interaction required by the active objective.

Do not simply throw the document toward the machine and assume being nearby is enough.

Wait for the device or objective to confirm that the page was accepted.

The contract has three separate states:

  • Printed
  • Signed in the correct area
  • Accepted through the return or scan interaction

If you get stuck, identify the last state that was successfully confirmed.

No page means the print interaction did not work.

A page that still shows the signature instruction has not accepted the pen interaction.

A signed document sitting beside the printer with no progress usually has not been scanned or returned correctly.

There is no reason to repeat the entire workday when you can identify the exact handoff that failed.

Destroy the Expense Report in a Real Disposal Point

A later document objective asks you to get rid of an expense report.

Water is not the answer.

There are two valid disposal locations:

  • The trash can
  • The recycling slot at the back of the printer

The recycling slot is usually the shorter option if the document is already near the printer.

Move toward the rear opening while keeping the page under control and release it only when you have lined the document up correctly.

The trash can is located on the floor below the desk.

One useful method is to pull it behind the printer and then carry or throw the document from that side so the container is directly below the landing area.

If the paper or container becomes unreachable, use the pause-menu option to reset item positions before trying again.

Remember that resetting items is only a recovery option.

It does not complete the objective.

The expense report still needs to enter one of the recognized disposal locations.

After dropping the page, immediately check the objective card. This prevents you from wasting the rest of the day after a near miss.

Stage the Final Interview Before Accepting the Call

The final promotion challenge combines many of the skills the desk has been teaching you separately.

The video call can involve soundboard sentence input, camera requests, and quick movement between different desk areas.

A single wrong key can force you to enter the current sentence again, so beginning the call with a messy setup creates unnecessary retries.

Before accepting the interview, prepare your room.

Get Your Input Ready

Practice with the mouse and keyboard you currently have installed.

Late upgrades can change how movement feels, so buying something immediately before the interview is not always an advantage.

Make sure you are comfortable with your setup first.

Prepare Your Route

Clear a direct route between:

  • Soundboard controls
  • Webcam area
  • Any object you may need to show

Loose papers can become useful ramps or annoying obstacles depending on where they land.

Try to keep your important movement paths clear.

Prepare for Camera Requests

Keep at least one valuable-looking shop object within easy reach.

However, let the live webcam status determine whether the game accepts it.

Do not assume that an expensive purchase automatically qualifies.

Know Your Reset Location

Locate the computer tower underneath the desk before starting the call.

If the game asks you to reset the headset, the tower’s power control is where you need to turn the computer off and back on.

Knowing this beforehand can save valuable time during the interview.

Keep Your Promotion Money Protected

Finish important hardware purchases before spending spare money on:

  • Interns
  • Cosmetics
  • Stock trading

The final progression route should be financially secure before you start experimenting with optional systems.

How to Handle Webcam Requests During the Interview

When the boss asks to see something expensive, hold the webcam in front of the object and keep it framed.

The scan takes a moment.

The webcam view displays its status at the top, so do not quickly wave the camera across the item and assume the game rejected it.

Keep the object in view and wait for the status to change.

If the printer or mouse does not work, check the current prompt and available shop items before trying another object.

Do not rely only on the purchase price to determine what the camera wants.

How to Handle Soundboard Input

Type carefully during soundboard sections.

If you enter a wrong character, stop and return to the requested phrase rather than randomly pressing more keys.

Treat the reset as affecting the current sentence.

Restart that phrase cleanly and continue.

Random keyboard movement can be entertaining during normal gameplay, but during the interview it can quickly waste your attempt.

How to Reset the Headset

If the headset portion of the interview does not recover, go underneath the desk to the computer tower.

Use its power control to turn the computer off and back on.

Do not waste time clicking the monitor or searching through desktop power icons.

The physical tower is the important location for this reset.

Read the Failed State Before Repeating the Day

When something does not progress, stop and read what remains active.

Do not immediately restart the entire day.

Here is what each common failed state usually means.

What Remains Active What You Should Check
Dated calendar card Open the named app or object and confirm the deadline and submission state
Spreadsheet without File Complete! Check the target cell, answer, selected source, Ctrl key, and final action
Printer objective with no page Reach the top controls and wait for the print interaction
Signature objective Use the pen on the recognized signature area
Destroy-document objective Use the printer recycling slot or floor trash can
Camera request Keep the object inside the webcam view until the status changes
Headset-reset request Use the power control on the computer tower below the desk

The biggest mistake is repeating optional activities before checking the failed state.

For example, if a spreadsheet remains open, do not start another file.

If the contract is not progressing, do not restart the entire workday.

Find the exact state that failed and continue from there.

Use the Demo Video as an Early Desk Reference

The earlier Demo walkthrough is useful for understanding the basic desk layout and early gameplay loop.

It shows:

  • Logging into the computer
  • The phone call
  • The calendar
  • Basic spreadsheets
  • Advanced spreadsheet tasks
  • The shop
  • Financial Insight training
  • Muscle Mass training
  • Messages
  • Sleeping and starting another workday

This makes the recording useful if you want to see how the worm physically reaches different keys, where the modifier dice are located, how long early files take, and how the wall changes after completing a task.

However, the Demo should mainly be used as a reference for the early desk loop.

It does not cover the full-release contract progression, final video interview, complete achievement route, or every system added later.

Use it to understand the early desk setup, but always follow the current in-game objectives once you reach the later promotion stages.
