Phantom Blade Zero: True Ending Steps and Tips

Phantom Blade Zero offers two endings: the “Normal” ending and the “True” ending, which is considered the Perfect Ending. To secure the true conclusion of the game, you must fulfill specific requirements along your journey.

Failing to complete these will default you to the Normal ending, which doesn’t award any trophies or achievements. Aim for the True Ending to earn the With Heart and Blood trophy, making sure you collect all necessary achievements in just one playthrough.

Your focus should be on completing quests marked by a purple icon in the story menu. While the gold icon quests are essential to progressing the main story, the purple quests largely determine if you trigger the True Ending. This guide outlines the steps you need to take, including critical moments where you should complete these quests.

Before diving into the details, make sure you keep an eye on your quest log to track the purple icon quests. They’ll be crucial in achieving your desired ending, so checking that first is highly recommended.

True Ending Steps

To initiate the True Ending, you must complete all quests indicated by a purple icon before crucial points in the game’s narrative. Quests with gold icons are part of the main story and are mandatory, while the purple ones, which are mostly optional, become vital for unlocking the True Ending.

It’s important to note that none of the purple quests needed for the True Ending are missable. As long as you complete them before certain points in the story, you won’t lose the chance to fulfill the requirements.

Your first critical point is upon entering the Mirage Estate area in Pangzhen. You’ll reach this area after completing the main quest The Four Serpent Houses, requiring you to gather items from the White, Black, and Red Serpent Houses to access the door at the back of the Green Serpent House. If you try to progress to Mirage Estate before completing the required quests, the game will warn you if you’ve missed anything necessary for the True Ending.

Here’s the list of quests you must complete leading up to your entrance into the Mirage Estate:

  • Deep in the Valley
  • Illusion of Inanis
  • Sha-Chi Powered Boat
  • Allure of Vanity
  • Illusory Pipa
  • Pillars of Kunlun
  • Whence the Weeping
  • The Herald’s Illusion
  • Crimson Manor
  • Secrets at the Heart of the Lake

After entering the Mirage Estate, you’ll proceed with the quest Bloodline Awakening. This quest involves completing all five Long Pillar challenges, and it’s essential to finish this before moving on to Mount Soulrend. Additionally, make sure to tackle any remaining side quests, as some of them might become unachievable once you start progressing through Mount Soulrend.

Before confronting the final boss, you’ll receive one last warning at the Bell The Last Chance in Mount Soulrend. This reminder occurs whether or not you’ve completed the necessary quests, since you’ll be unable to exit the area until after the ending sequence is finished. You can then return to exploring the world afterward.

Upon defeating the final bosses, if all required quests for the True Ending have been completed, you’ll face the true final boss following your encounter with Meng Hua, leading to the True Ending and the With Heart and Blood trophy.

With Heart and Blood.
