If you’ve jumped into the latest PEAK update and noticed that there are a bunch of new achievements tied to Gloom, The Citadel, and the new Scoutmaster storyline, you’re definitely going to want to know what you’re doing before starting a run.
Some of these achievements are easy enough to understand, but a few have hidden requirements that aren’t immediately obvious. The Rule Zero achievement is the big one—it sends you into a completely different area and even affects the ending.
So, if you’re trying to grab all the new achievements without wasting several expeditions figuring everything out yourself, here’s the complete walkthrough.
Last Resort – Ritual Dagger Achievement
The Last Resort achievement requires you to:
Heal more than 75% of your health at once using the Ritual Dagger.
You’ll need another player for this one.
Start by finding the Ritual Dagger inside a Cursed Chest. Once you’ve got it, you need to take enough damage to lose more than 75% of your health.
The easiest way to do this is to stand in a campfire and let it burn you until your health is low enough.
Now comes the slightly weird part.
Pick up the Ritual Dagger and stab your friend in the back.
Your friend will turn into stone, and the achievement should unlock for you.
There’s a nice little multiplayer shortcut here: the Ritual Dagger doesn’t break after being used. So if you’re playing with several friends, you can use the same dagger and let everyone get the achievement during one expedition.
Hang Glider – Fly 100 Meters Without Touching the Ground
For the Hang Glider achievement, you need to:
Fly 100 meters using the Glider without touching the ground.
Finding the Glider is the first step. You can find one inside a regular suitcase.
Before you take off, make sure you’ve got plenty of energy. Gliding consumes energy, and running out halfway through your attempt will obviously put an end to the flight.
Once you’ve found one, climb to a suitable peak.
Jump from the top, deploy the Glider, and keep flying.
You don’t need to land anywhere specific. As soon as you’ve traveled 100 meters without touching the ground, the achievement will unlock immediately.
I’d recommend starting from a reasonably high point rather than trying to squeeze the distance out of a small hill.
Bellringer – Ring 5 Bell Towers in Gloom
The Bellringer achievement requires you to:
Ring all 5 bell towers in Gloom during a single expedition.
This is where the new Gloom area really starts testing your exploration skills.
The five bell towers are hidden throughout the fog, so you’ll need to search around rather than simply follow the main route.
You’ll notice stone statues around the area. These statues are intended to point you toward the bell towers.
However, don’t rely on them blindly.
The statues aren’t always completely accurate, meaning the direction they’re pointing isn’t necessarily the exact location of the bell tower. Use the statue as a general clue, then search the surrounding area.
Your goal is to locate all five bell towers and light each one during the same expedition.
Is It Safe to Explore the Gloom?
Yes, you can move through the Gloom.
The fog does give you a small amount of sleep, but the effect disappears fairly quickly after you return to the surface.
Food isn’t much of a concern either. There are plenty of eggs scattered around the area, so you should be able to keep yourself fed while searching for the towers.
Exorcist – Burn the Large Ghost
The Exorcist achievement requires you to:
Burn the large ghost in Gloom.
First, find one of the bell towers in Gloom and light it.
Now stay nearby and wait.
A large ghost will eventually appear. Fortunately, it seems to spawn fairly frequently, so you shouldn’t have to wait forever.
The important part is where you stand.
Do not move away from the lit bell tower.
Wait for the ghost to fly toward the campfire. You need to be very close to the fire when this happens.
If you wander too far away, the achievement may not register.
So the basic strategy is simple:
- Find a bell tower.
- Light it.
- Stay next to the campfire.
- Wait for the large ghost to appear.
- Let it fly toward the fire.
- Stay as close to the fire as possible.
Once the ghost is burned, the achievement should pop.
Wanderer – Escape Gloom
The Wanderer achievement is much more straightforward:
Escape the Gloom.
You simply need to make your way through the area and climb beyond the Gloom.
The main things you’ll need to watch for are the frogs and the sharp spikes scattered around the route.
Don’t rush your jumps. The new area has plenty of hazards that can turn a successful climb into a rescue mission very quickly.
Keep climbing, get beyond the Gloom, and the achievement will unlock.
Sharpshooter – Remove 10 Arrows in One Expedition
The Sharpshooter achievement requires you to:
Remove 10 arrows from yourself during a single expedition.
You’ll be doing this in The Citadel.
As you explore the area, you’ll encounter sections where arrows shoot out from the walls.
Instead of avoiding them, you’re going to use these traps to complete the achievement.
Before attempting this, make sure you have plenty of Medkits and Bandages. You’re going to intentionally take damage multiple times, so you’ll need enough healing supplies to survive the process.
Let the arrows hit you, then interact with the arrow stuck in your body to remove it.
Repeat this 10 times in the same expedition.
Once you’ve removed the tenth arrow, the achievement should unlock.
Rule Zero – Free the Scoutmaster’s Soul
Now for the achievement that takes considerably more work.
Rule Zero requires you to:
Free the Scoutmaster’s soul.
This isn’t something you can complete by simply reaching the summit. You’ll first need to collect four Scout achievements hidden throughout the earlier locations.
The four Scout achievements are:
- Scout’s Perseverance
- Scout’s Energy
- Scout’s Generosity
- Scout’s Ambition
Find the Four Scout Statues
During the first four locations, you’ll encounter areas containing a blue glow.
Underneath each blue glow is a statue associated with one of the Scout achievements.
There are four statues in total, so you’ll need to find all four.
And here’s the warning you absolutely don’t want to miss:
Do NOT use the Scout achievements before reaching the top of the Peak.
Collect them as you progress, but save the final interaction until you’ve reached the summit.
You’ll eventually have:
Scout’s Perseverance
Scout’s Energy
Scout’s Generosity
Scout’s Ambition
Once you’ve collected all four, continue your expedition normally.
Reach the Peak and Find the Pink Gemstone Statue
After you’ve obtained all four Scout achievements, you need to complete the final location and reach the top of the Peak.
Don’t stop once you reach the summit.
Continue beyond the summit toward the area where the signal fires are located.
You’ll find a special statue holding a pink gemstone in its hand.
This is the statue you’ve been looking for.
Place all four Scout achievements onto the statue.
Once you’ve done that, the game will teleport you to a completely new location:
NADIR.
NADIR – The Final Part of Rule Zero
At the beginning of NADIR, you’ll receive several suitcases containing loot.
Take advantage of them because you’re going to need to continue climbing through the new area.
You’ll eventually encounter the Scoutmaster’s spirit.
This is where the actual final stage of the achievement begins.
To free the Scoutmaster’s soul, you need to complete NADIR.
The route involves climbing upward, using the area’s antigravity spheres, and making your way through the entire location.
Keep moving upward and use the antigravity sections to reach the higher areas.
Your goal is to make it all the way to the end of NADIR.
Reach the Signal Fire in NADIR
Eventually, you’ll reach the end of the location, where you’ll find another signal fire.
Once you’ve reached this point, continue forward and enter the door.
A cutscene will begin.
Let the sequence play out completely.
After the final sequence, the Rule Zero achievement will unlock.
Does Rule Zero Affect the Ending?
Yes.
This is what makes Rule Zero much more interesting than a normal achievement.
Completing the Scoutmaster storyline affects the ending of PEAK.
So if you’re interested in seeing the additional ending content introduced with the Gloom and Citadel update, this is absolutely an achievement worth going after.
It’s also easily the most involved achievement in this update, so don’t be surprised if it takes a few attempts to get everything done in one successful run.
PEAK Gloom & The Citadel Achievement Checklist
If you’re working through the update, here’s a quick checklist to keep beside you:
- Last Resort — Use the Ritual Dagger after taking more than 75% damage.
- Hang Glider — Fly 100 meters without touching the ground.
- Bellringer — Light all 5 bell towers in Gloom during one expedition.
- Exorcist — Burn the large ghost at a lit bell tower.
- Wanderer — Escape beyond Gloom.
- Sharpshooter — Remove 10 arrows from yourself in one expedition.
- Rule Zero — Collect all four Scout achievements, reach the summit, activate the pink gemstone statue, enter NADIR, and complete the area.
The new Gloom and Citadel content makes PEAK feel a little more mysterious than usual. You’re not just climbing anymore—you’ve got hidden bell towers, strange statues, ghosts, new hazards, and an entire Scoutmaster storyline tucked away behind the normal climb.
Most of the achievements can be knocked out with a little preparation, but Rule Zero is the one I’d prioritize if you’re interested in the game’s story and ending.
Just remember the biggest warning: don’t activate the four Scout achievements before reaching the top of the Peak. Collect them, keep them safe, and wait until you’ve reached the statue beyond the summit.
Once you enter NADIR, you’re committed to the final part of the quest, so make sure you’re prepared before heading in.
And when you finally reach that last signal fire and trigger the cutscene, you’ll know all that climbing was worth it.
