The Skycrest Update has finally arrived in Fisch, bringing one of the biggest new areas to the game: a massive floating island filled with new fishing content, quests, progression systems, weather events, rewards, and a few secrets to uncover.
The biggest addition is the new Idol Favor progression system. As you explore Skycrest and complete its challenges, you can upgrade your Crest Amulet and equip up to nine Charms at once. There are also seven Ancient Idols to work through, new rods and fishing equipment, the Abaia Hunt, a new companion, and plenty of side quests.
There is also some limited-time Fischfest content that you should not leave until later. Below, I’ll go through everything added in Skycrest, what you should work on first, and the new code you can redeem right now.
Skycrest Island
The main attraction of the update is Skycrest, a huge floating island added as part of Fischfest.
The island contains both permanent and limited-time content, so there’s a lot to explore even if you’re not interested in completing every quest immediately.
Skycrest is built around its new Idol Favor system, which gradually unlocks more of the island’s progression as you complete trials, catch fish, and help the characters you meet there.
If you’re entering Skycrest for the first time, I recommend spending some time exploring before rushing through the quests. There are several NPCs, fishing spots, idols, and activities spread throughout the island.
Idol Favor and the Crest Amulet
Idol Favor is essentially the main progression system for Skycrest.
As you increase your Idol Favor level, you’ll be able to improve your new Crest Amulet.
The Amulet lets you equip up to nine Charms simultaneously once you’ve progressed far enough.
These Charms aren’t just cosmetic either. They provide stat bonuses that can improve your fishing performance.
Some of the stats affected by Charms include:
- Luck
- Control
- Resilience
- Max Weight
- Lure Speed
- Progress Speed
So, if you’re planning to spend a lot of time fishing in Skycrest, building Idol Favor should be one of your first priorities.
Seven Ancient Idols
Skycrest has seven Ancient Idols, each carved from stone and connected to its own trials and rewards.
The Ancient Idols are:
- Hayate
- Ebisu
- Fudo
- Nagomi
- Goriki
- Shunsoku
- Amanojaku
You’ll need to complete their trials to earn dedicated stat Charms.
Once you have the Charms, you can level them up by catching fish in Skycrest. Their bonuses scale as you progress, giving you another reason to keep fishing around the new island.
Tropical Squall and Raging Squall Trials
Some of the Idol challenges are much harder than the normal trials.
These are tied to the new Tropical Squall and Raging Squall weather events.
Successfully completing the extreme trials can unlock two special Charms:
- Titanic Charm
- Flash Charm
If you’re aiming to maximize your Crest Amulet setup, these are definitely worth working toward.
Sky Crystals and the Keeper’s Questline
Another major questline begins with the Keeper of the Sky.
The Keeper asks you to recover 10 Sky Crystals scattered around the Fisch world.
The crystals can be found in places including:
- Moosewood
- Terrapin Island
- Roslit Bay
- Snowcap Island
- Other locations around the map
You’ll need to bring the crystals back as you work through the Keeper’s tasks.
The goal is to restore Abaia’s Chamber, unlock the initial gate, and prepare for what is waiting beyond it.
There is one important catch: you’ll need a sufficiently high Idol Favor level to safely place the crystals during the questline.
So don’t be surprised if you find a Sky Crystal but aren’t able to progress with it immediately.
Fire of Spirits
The Fire of Spirits is another important part of the Skycrest progression.
During a Tropical Squall, you can sacrifice fish at the Fire of Spirits.
As you feed it more fish, the flame grows stronger. A stronger flame provides benefits to the surrounding area, including:
- Increased nearby Luck
- Increased weather spawn rates
Keep progressing with the sacrifices and you’ll eventually be able to trigger the Abaia Hunt.
Abaia Hunt
Once you’ve made enough progress, it’s time to go after Abaia.
The hunt takes you beneath Skycrest, where you’ll chase the creature through the subterranean outer ponds.
You’ll first need to strip away its barrier before reaching the chamber.
Once inside, the encounter turns into a proper fight. Abaia will attack you with its biting attack, so you’ll need to stay alert while dealing with the beast.
This is one of the bigger combat-focused pieces of the Skycrest update and serves as a major goal for players working through the new progression.
Five New Fishing Rods
Of course, this is Fisch, so a major update wouldn’t be complete without new fishing rods.
Skycrest adds five new Fishing Rods for players to unlock.
The update doesn’t just stop at rods either. There are also two new pieces of fishing equipment:
- Harpoon Gun
- Spear
You’ll also be able to discover two new relics:
- Crested Relic
- Empyrean Relic
With the new fishing progression, Charms, and equipment all working together, there’s quite a bit of new gear to chase.
Elder Kaito’s Shop
Make sure to visit Elder Kaito’s Shop while you’re exploring Skycrest.
His shop contains rare content, and the available purchases are refreshed with new buys each week.
That means you should check back regularly instead of assuming you’ve seen everything after your first visit.
Master Hiroto’s Challenges
Looking for another way to earn Idol Favor?
Master Hiroto has high-difficulty timed angler challenges for you to complete.
The difficulty of these challenges scales according to your Idol Favor level, so they’ll continue to provide a challenge as you progress.
The payoff can be substantial, though, with these challenges offering massive Favor rewards when completed.
Sanctuary and Ryusei
There’s also a reason to visit the Sanctuary.
Talk to Ryusei there to discover a special opportunity connected to Fischfest.
This is limited-time content, so don’t ignore it if you’re trying to complete everything before Fischfest moves on.
The update specifically encourages players to check out Ryusei while the event is still active.
Idol Taiga Companion
Skycrest also introduces a new companion called Idol Taiga.
To tame Idol Taiga, you’ll need to collect special Firefly variants and use them during a Tropical Squall once you’ve reached the required Idol Favor progression.
Idol Taiga comes with several useful effects, including:
- Boosted Charm effects
- Automatic sacrificing of low-rarity catches
- Extra Idol Favor
- Active fish spearing
It’s a pretty handy companion to have around, especially if you’re spending a lot of time working through Skycrest’s fishing and Favor systems.
How to Get the Firefly Variants
Before you can tame Idol Taiga, you’ll need the right bait.
Four different Firefly variants can be caught at night:
- Firefly
- Loopy Five
- Blue Ghost
- Gombak Bent-Winged
These aren’t just collectibles. They can be used as high-tier bait, and you’ll need them for the Idol Taiga progression.
So when you’re fishing at night, keep an eye out for these roaming Firefly variants.
New Bestiary
Skycrest adds a whole collection of new fish and species to the Bestiary.
There’s also a limited Bestiary section connected to Fischfest.
If you’re a completionist, this is something you’ll want to work on sooner rather than later because the limited section is tied to the event.
20+ New Side Quests
The update also adds more than 20 side quests from locals around Skycrest.
These aren’t simply filler missions either. Some of them have their own unique rewards, so it’s worth talking to the NPCs you encounter rather than only following the main progression.
I would especially recommend checking the side quests while you’re already exploring each part of the island. That way, you can make progress toward multiple objectives at the same time.
Fruit Lover Frank’s Limited Quest
One quest deserves special attention: Fruit Lover Frank has a limited-time quest available this week only.
Frank is hungry, so you’ll need to help him out with what he needs.
The reward hasn’t been fully spelled out, but the update strongly hints that Frank will offer a strong Fishing Rod in return.
Since this quest is only available for a limited time, I’d put it fairly high on your priority list.
Skycrest Update Code
There’s also a new code to redeem.
SkycrestIsInTheSky
Use the code:
SkycrestIsInTheSky
The developers have specifically asked players to redeem this code today, so don’t wait too long before trying it.
Skycrest is a pretty packed Fisch update. The new floating island is only the beginning, with Idol Favor, seven Ancient Idols, the Crest Amulet, nine possible Charm slots, Sky Crystals, the Keeper’s questline, Fire of Spirits, the Abaia Hunt, new rods, relics, equipment, companions, and more than 20 side quests all added at once.
If I were starting from scratch, I’d focus on Idol Favor and Charms first, then work through the Keeper’s Sky Crystal quest and the Ancient Idol trials. At the same time, make sure you don’t miss the limited Fischfest content, especially Frank’s quest and the Sanctuary opportunity.
And don’t forget to redeem SkycrestIsInTheSky while the code is available.
