The Marrow Rod is one of the newest fishing rods introduced in the Drylands update for Fisch. Unlike most rods that can simply be purchased, this one is locked behind a short questline that sends you across both the Drylands and Ancient Isle.
The quest isn’t especially difficult, but knowing where to go saves a lot of unnecessary wandering through the massive desert.
Here’s how to unlock and craft the Marrow Rod.
Fisch Marrow Rod Guide – How to Get the Marrow Rod
First, you’ll need to reach the Drylands.
Travel to FischFest Island from Moosewood, then head behind the giant sandcastle and cross into the Drylands.
Once inside the desert, make your way to the large skull landmark. Behind it, you’ll find the NPC that begins the Marrow Rod questline.
Talk to the NPC to receive the first objective.
Step 1: Buy the Required Item
After accepting the quest, head to the nearby Drylands Merchant.
Purchase the required quest item from the merchant’s table, then return it to the quest NPC.
Completing this objective rewards you with the first quest item needed for the Marrow Rod.
Step 2: Get the Mysterious Skull
While you’re already visiting the merchant, don’t forget to purchase the Mysterious Skull.
This item is required later in the questline, so buying it now saves you from making another trip back.
Step 3: Visit Ancient Isle
Next, travel to Ancient Isle.
Head toward the pond area until you find the required NPC.
Talking to this character starts a dialogue sequence, and you’ll need to choose the correct responses.
Correct Dialogue Choices
Select the following options in order:
- “Petri sent me.”
- Choose the dialogue mentioning Mysterious Fang.
- Select Show the Spine.
Answering correctly rewards you with the Mysterious Fang, giving you another required quest item.
By this point, you should have:
- Mysterious Spine
- Mysterious Fang
- Mysterious Skull
Step 4: Craft the Marrow Rod
With all three quest items collected, head to the Ancient Archives crafting area beneath the waterfall on Ancient Isle.
Interact with the rod crafting station and craft the Marrow Rod.
Once the crafting finishes, the rod is permanently unlocked.
