The Hideout is one of the more puzzle-focused maps in Detective Duck. Unlike some maps that mainly require collecting items and escaping, The Hideout combines stealth, item management, color puzzles, lockpicking, and guard avoidance throughout the entire run.

Detective Duck The Hideout Walkthrough Guide – Puzzle Tips
As soon as the map begins, collect the Sponge located near the starting area.
Do not ignore this item.
The sponge is required later in the walkthrough and many players forget to grab it at the beginning, forcing them to backtrack.
After collecting the sponge, wait for the guard to patrol nearby.
When the opportunity appears, steal the guard’s keys.
Once the keys are obtained, use them to unlock the nearby prison cell.
Accessing the Security System
Wait for the guard to move away before crossing the room.
Move toward the computer station.
You’ll notice a raccoon image displayed on the monitor.
Click the raccoon image five times.
Doing this grants access to the computer system and disables the red camera hotspot security system throughout the area.
With the cameras disabled, exploration becomes much safer.
Battery Collection
After disabling the cameras, collect the first battery.
Search the area and collect the second battery as well.
Both batteries are required for the next puzzle.
Once both batteries are secured, return to the battery-powered mechanism.
Insert both batteries into the device.
After inserting them, activate the nearby lever.
This opens the next door and allows progression deeper into the hideout.
Tool Storage Room
Beyond the newly opened door, you’ll discover several important tools.
Collect:
- Hammer
- Steel Rope
- Pipe Wrench
These three items are all mandatory for progression.
Once everything has been collected, return toward the starting cell area while avoiding the guards.
Glass Escape Route
Back near the original cell, use the Hammer to smash the glass barrier.
After breaking the glass, climb down into the lower area.
Before doing anything else, collect the Apple found nearby.
Like the sponge, the apple becomes important later.
Laser Security Puzzle
In the lower section you’ll encounter active laser barriers.
To disable them, first collect the Scissors.
After obtaining the scissors, head back upstairs.
You’ll also need another Wrench found nearby.
Collect it before proceeding.
Use the wrench to remove the bolts securing the electrical panel.
Once the bolts have been removed, use the scissors to cut all three wires connected to the system.
After all wires have been cut, the laser security system shuts down completely.
Color Direction Puzzle Hint
Before leaving the area, examine the nearby book.
This book contains the solution for a future puzzle.
The directions shown are:
- Green = Right
- Blue = Down
- Red = Left
- Yellow = Left
Write these down or remember them carefully.
You will need this information later.
Underground Access
Return to the lower level where the lasers were previously active.
Since the lasers are now disabled, you can safely continue forward.
Use the Steel Rope on the lever mechanism.
Activating the lever opens another chamber.
Inside, collect the Pickaxe.
Rock Barrier Section
Use the Pickaxe to destroy the rock obstruction blocking the tunnel.
Once the rocks are cleared, proceed into the next puzzle room.

Use the directions exactly as recorded:
- Green → Right
- Blue → Down
- Red → Left
- Yellow → Left
Entering the correct sequence opens the path forward.
Wheel Mechanism
Continue progressing through the newly opened area.
Use the Pipe Wrench to break open the damaged structure blocking the path.
Next, use the Sponge on the appropriate location.
This reveals an Extra Wheel.
Collect the wheel.
The wheel acts as a replacement door handle.
Install it onto the nearby door mechanism to unlock the next section.
Lockpick Puzzle
Continue forward until you locate another pair of Scissors.
Use the scissors to cut open a Plastic Bottle.
This creates a plastic strip that functions as a makeshift lockpick.
Use the lockpick on the locked door.
You’ll need to successfully complete the lockpick interaction three times.
After the third successful attempt, the door opens.
Apple Exchange
Before advancing further, locate the bird nearby.
Give the Apple collected earlier to the bird.
In return, the bird rewards you with a Key.
This key is essential for the next step.
Many players become stuck because they forgot to collect the apple much earlier in the run.
Handcuff Collection
Use the newly acquired key to unlock the nearby door.
Inside you’ll find:
Handcuffs
Collect them immediately.
The handcuffs are the final major item required to complete the map.
Returning to the Guard Room
Now begins the longest backtracking section of the map.
Return through the areas you’ve already completed.
Navigate back upstairs while avoiding all guards along the way.
Make your way back toward the original security area.
Final Objective
Locate the guard near the end section.
Use the Handcuffs on the guard.
Once the handcuffs are applied, the final cutscene begins automatically.
After the cutscene finishes, you’ll complete The Hideout and receive the associated badge reward.
