Choosing the right class and hero is one of the first things you need to understand in War of Genesis: Idle Loot. The game currently has 33 heroes split across three classes: Knight, Ranger, and Wizard.
In this guide, I will go through all three classes, explain how the hero system works, and give you a simple tier list so you can understand which heroes are worth unlocking as you level up.
The important thing to remember is that heroes within the same class share the same skill set. What changes between heroes are their base stats, Owned Bonus, and Equipped Bonus. Because of this, unlocking new heroes is still important even if you already have a hero from the same class.
War of Genesis Idle Loot Classes & Heroes Tier List Guide
There are 33 heroes in total, with 11 heroes for each class.
New heroes are unlocked automatically as your account reaches certain levels, and you need to spend Gold to unlock them.
The unlock levels are:
- Level 1 – Starting Hero
- Level 10
- Level 20
- Level 30
- Level 40
- Level 50
- Level 60
- Level 70
- Level 80
- Level 90
- Level 100
Every hero in a class uses that class’s skills. For example, all Ranger heroes use the Ranger skill set, while the individual Ranger heroes provide different stat bonuses.
This means you should not ignore new heroes just because you already have one from the same class.
Class Tier List
For early progression, I recommend Ranger as the best overall class to start with because of its fast ranged attacks, strong farming ability, and Evasion.
| Tier | Class | Overall Use |
|---|---|---|
| S | Ranger | Best overall early-game farming and progression |
| A | Knight | Strong survivability and useful melee abilities |
| A | Wizard | Powerful damage but slower gameplay |
This is primarily an early-game/PvE-focused ranking. Your preferred class can change depending on your build and the content you are doing.
Ranger
Ranger Overview
Ranger is my recommended class for new players.
Ranger attacks from range and has strong consistent damage, making it very comfortable for farming stages. It also benefits heavily from Evasion, allowing you to avoid incoming attacks while continuing to deal damage.
For an early Ranger build, I recommend focusing on Rapid Fire, Stone Arrow, and Evasion.

Ranger Heroes
Riona Willard — Ranged · Tier 1 · Starting Hero
Riona is your starting Ranger. She is perfectly fine for beginning the game, but you should continue unlocking the later Ranger heroes as your account level increases.
Cecily Narejuno — Ranged · Tier 1 · Level 10
Cecily is the next Ranger you can unlock. She is an early progression upgrade and gives you another source of Ranger-specific bonuses.
Erica Myers — Ranged · Tier 2 · Level 20
Erica becomes available at Level 20. At this point, you should continue building toward the stronger Ranger heroes rather than spending too many resources trying to perfect the earliest ones.
Ariana Weaver — Ranged · Tier 2 · Level 30
Ariana is unlocked at Level 30 and continues the progression of Ranger heroes.
Chris — Ranged · Tier 3 · Level 40
Chris unlocks at Level 40. By this point, your account should be starting to benefit more noticeably from the stronger bonuses provided by later heroes.
Kana Milanovich — Ranged · Tier 3 · Level 50
Kana is the Level 50 Ranger and is another worthwhile unlock as you continue progressing.
Jane Shore — Ranged · Tier 4 · Level 60
Jane becomes available at Level 60 and belongs to the fourth hero tier.
Cordelia Austin — Ranged · Tier 4 · Level 70
Cordelia unlocks at Level 70 and is one of the stronger mid-to-late progression Ranger heroes.
Anne Millennium — Ranged · Tier 5 · Level 80
Anne unlocks at Level 80. She is an important upgrade as you move into higher-level content.
Christian de Medici — Ranged · Tier 5 · Level 90
Christian becomes available at Level 90 and is one of the strongest Ranger options before the final hero.
Empress Christina — Ranged · Tier 6 · Level 100
Empress Christina is the final Ranger hero and unlocks at Level 100. She is the long-term Ranger target if you are committed to the class.
Knight
Knight Overview
Knight is the melee class and focuses more heavily on durability and close-range combat.
Knight has strong defensive potential, stun utility, and buffs. If you prefer a tankier playstyle or don’t want to rely as heavily on ranged combat, Knight is a solid alternative to Ranger.
However, for pure early-game farming, I would still put Ranger ahead of Knight.

Cyrano unlocks at Level 90 and is one of the final Knight upgrades.
Black Prince — Melee · Tier 6 · Level 100
Black Prince is the final Knight hero, unlocking at Level 100. This is the long-term target for players committed to Knight.
Wizard
Wizard Overview
Wizard is the magic-based class.
The biggest advantage of Wizard is its powerful spells. The downside is that the casting speed is slower compared with Ranger’s faster attacks.
If you enjoy high-damage abilities and don’t mind a slower attack cycle, Wizard can be a very strong class.
For general early-game progression, however, I would still choose Ranger because it feels faster and more consistent for farming.

How I Would Progress Through the Heroes
If you’re following the Ranger recommendation, don’t worry about trying to build every hero at once.
Instead, I would simply keep progressing your account and unlocking the next Ranger whenever you reach the required level.
The important milestones are:
Level 1: Riona Willard
Level 10: Cecily Narejuno
Level 20: Erica Myers
Level 30: Ariana Weaver
Level 40: Chris
Level 50: Kana Milanovich
Level 60: Jane Shore
Level 70: Cordelia Austin
Level 80: Anne Millennium
Level 90: Christian de Medici
Level 100: Empress Christina
The same progression applies to Knight and Wizard if you decide to use either of those classes.
For the early game, my overall class ranking would be:
1. Ranger — S Tier
Ranger is my first choice because of its fast ranged attacks, strong farming performance, and Evasion. It is especially comfortable for AFK progression.
2. Knight — A Tier
Knight is a strong alternative if you prefer melee combat, durability, stuns, and defensive abilities.
3. Wizard — A Tier
Wizard has powerful magic damage, but its slower casting makes it less comfortable for early farming compared with Ranger.
Keep in mind that these rankings are mainly aimed at general PvE and early progression. As you unlock more content and understand the game better, the best class or hero for you may change.
The hero system in War of Genesis: Idle Loot is pretty straightforward once you understand the main idea. You have three classes, each with 11 heroes, and every hero within a class shares that class’s skills.
What makes the heroes different are their base stats, Owned Bonus, and Equipped Bonus, so unlocking higher-level heroes remains important even when they use the same skills as your current character.
If you’re just starting out, I would go with Ranger, focus on your core Ranger skills, and keep unlocking the next Ranger heroes as your account level increases. For Knight and Wizard players, the same principle applies: continue pushing your account level and unlock the stronger heroes as they become available.
