Crafting becomes a really important part of Scapewatch: Idle MMO once you start moving beyond the early game. Your armor and weapons determine how much damage you can deal and how well you can survive, while crafting also gives you access to arrows, missiles, and potions.
In this guide, I’ll break down the different crafting menus in Scapewatch: Idle MMO, what each skill is used for, how the armor and weapon tiers work, and what you should focus on when you’re starting to build your character.
The main thing I recommend is not ignoring crafting. Getting better equipment early can make combat much easier, which then helps you level your other skills more efficiently.
Scapewatch Idle MMO Crafting Guide – Armor, Arrows
There are four main crafting menus in Scapewatch: Idle MMO:
- 8: Smith
- 9: Craft
- 0: Imbue
- – / _: Brew
You can also access these menus directly through the game’s interface.
Each crafting skill has its own purpose, and together they allow you to create different types of weapons, armor, ammunition, and consumables.
Smithing – Melee Weapons and Armor
The Smith menu is where you create your melee equipment.
The materials you use depend on the equipment tier. Early tiers use materials such as Copper and Tin, while higher tiers move into stronger materials such as Iron and Aluminum.
The general progression looks like this:
- Tier 0: Copper and Tin
- Tier 2: Iron
- Tier 3: Aluminum
- Higher tiers continue with stronger materials
You first need to mine the required resources and then process them into bars.
For example, you can mine Copper, turn it into Copper Bars, and then use those bars to create your Tier 0 equipment.
Tier 0 Melee Equipment
When you’re starting out, I recommend crafting the basic equipment available to you so that you have something equipped.
You don’t need to worry too much about the Whetstone at the beginning. That is something you can work toward later.
Tier 0 equipment is mostly there to get you started. Its defensive and offensive bonuses are relatively small compared with the higher tiers.
Melee Weapons
Smithing gives you access to several different types of melee weapons.
The early Copper weapons include:
Copper Axe
The Copper Axe deals Slash damage.
It is also a two-handed weapon, meaning you cannot equip a shield or buckler alongside it.
Copper Dagger
The Copper Dagger deals Stab damage.
It has a faster attack speed than the other basic melee weapons, making it useful if you prefer quicker attacks.
Copper Mace
The Copper Mace deals Crush damage.
It has a slower attack speed than the Dagger and Axe, but gives you access to Crush damage.
Weapon Attack Speed
Weapons in Scapewatch: Idle MMO have different attack speeds.
For the basic Copper weapons:
- Dagger: 2.2 seconds
- Axe: 3 seconds
- Mace: 4 seconds
So, choosing a weapon isn’t only about its damage type. You also need to consider how quickly it attacks.
The Axe is also the only two-handed weapon among these three, so remember that using it means giving up your shield slot.
Armor in Scapewatch: Idle MMO
Armor is extremely important because it determines how well you can defend yourself against different types of attacks.
Tier 0 armor doesn’t provide a huge amount of defense or strength. It is mostly your starting equipment.
As you move into higher tiers, the difference becomes much more noticeable.
Tier 1 is a significant improvement over Tier 0, Tier 2 improves further, and Tier 3 provides a much larger boost.
By the time you reach the higher tiers, your equipment can dramatically improve both your survivability and damage.
Gloves and Gauntlets
One thing I would pay attention to when looking at your equipment is your Gauntlets/Gloves.
These pieces generally provide more Strength and Attack than your other armor pieces.
Most of your remaining armor is focused more heavily on defensive stats.
Your weapon is also extremely important because it has a major impact on how much damage you can deal.
So, when upgrading equipment, don’t only look at your armor. Your weapon should be one of your biggest priorities.
Why Higher Tiers Matter
Upgrading your equipment tier is one of the easiest ways to make combat more manageable.
As you move from lower-tier equipment to higher tiers, you gain:
- More defense
- More strength
- Higher weapon damage
- Better combat performance
- Improved survivability
The jump between tiers can be significant.
For example, higher-tier weapons can provide dramatically more Strength than their Copper counterparts. This is why progressing your crafting materials is so important.
Different Armor Types
One of the more interesting parts of Scapewatch: Idle MMO is that different equipment types are better against different attack styles.
You shouldn’t always wear the same armor for every enemy.
Instead, you can create different loadouts and switch your equipment depending on what you’re fighting.
Melee Armor
Melee-oriented armor generally provides strong defenses against physical damage types such as:
- Stab
- Slash
- Crush
- Ranged attacks
This makes it useful against many physical enemies.
However, it isn’t as effective against Magic attacks.
If you’re fighting an enemy that primarily uses Magic, you may want to switch to a different armor setup.
Ranged Armor
Ranged armor is particularly useful when you need stronger Magic Defense.
This can make it a good choice against enemies that rely heavily on Magic attacks.
So, if you know you’re going against a Magic-based enemy, consider switching to a Ranged armor loadout instead of simply sticking with your normal melee equipment.
Higher-tier Ranged armor can provide a significant amount of Magic Defense.
Magic Armor
Magic equipment is another option, and Magic-focused weapons can provide very strong damage.
Magic armor tends to have decent melee defense, but its overall defensive profile can be weaker compared with other armor types.
The trade-off is that Magic weapons can provide very strong offensive performance.
This makes Magic attractive if you’re willing to put more effort into leveling the required skills and maintaining the resources needed for it.
Crafting – Ranged Weapons
The Craft menu is used for your ranged equipment.
You can create weapons such as:
- Bows
- Crossbows
The main difference is how they interact with your off-hand equipment.
Bow
A Bow is two-handed.
Because of this, you cannot equip a Buckler while using a Bow.
Crossbow
A Crossbow is one-handed.
That means you can equip a Buckler alongside it.
This gives Crossbows a little more flexibility when you’re building a defensive ranged loadout.
Arrows and Missiles
Ranged and Magic characters have an additional requirement that melee characters don’t have to deal with.
You need ammunition.
For Ranged characters, this means Arrows.
For Magic characters, this means Missiles.
If you don’t have the required ammunition equipped, your character essentially won’t be able to deal proper damage with those weapons.
This is one reason melee can feel easier to level during the early game.
Making Arrows
Arrows require additional crafting materials.
The early crafting process uses resources such as:
- Leather Strips
- Thread
A single resource combination can produce multiple arrows, allowing you to build up a stockpile for your ranged character.
At first, keeping enough ammunition might seem annoying, but once you focus on gathering the necessary materials, it becomes much easier to maintain a large supply.
Melee vs. Ranged vs. Magic
Each combat style has its own advantages.
Melee
Melee is generally easier to level early because you don’t need to constantly maintain arrows or missiles.
Many enemies are also vulnerable to at least one type of melee damage, making it relatively easy to find situations where your weapon is effective.
Magic
Magic can provide very strong damage.
The downside is that it can take more effort to level and maintain because of the additional resources and ammunition requirements.
Ranged
Ranged can also require significant preparation because you need arrows and the appropriate crafting materials.
It can be more demanding to level compared with melee, especially early on.
The important thing is that all three styles can be useful when you build the right equipment and use the appropriate loadout for the enemy you’re fighting.
Imbuing – Magic Equipment
The Imbue menu is where you work with your Magic equipment.
Magic gear follows the same general idea as the other equipment types: higher tiers provide stronger equipment and better combat performance.
Your Magic setup also requires Missiles, so make sure you don’t forget about ammunition when preparing for combat.
Just like ranged equipment, having the weapon itself isn’t enough if you don’t have the required missiles available.
Brew – Potions
The final crafting menu is Brew.
Brewing works differently from Smithing and Crafting because you generally start with Unfinished Potions.
You’ll obtain unfinished potions through various activities and tasks, then take them to the Brew menu to turn them into usable potions.
For example, a task may ask you to brew a certain number of unfinished Mystic Potions.
Once you have the required unfinished potions, you can combine them with the appropriate materials to create the finished potion.
Unfinished Potions
Unfinished Potions are essentially the starting point for your Brewing process.
You gather or receive them through gameplay, then combine them with other materials in the Brew menu.
The finished products give you useful consumables while also providing Brewing XP.
So, if you’re trying to level Brewing, don’t forget to process the unfinished potions sitting in your inventory or bank.
Brewing Food
Brewing can also help when you’re running low on food.
You can combine unfinished potions with certain excess raw food materials to create additional food.
This can be useful before combat because food is important for keeping your character alive.
If you have excess materials sitting around and need more combat supplies, check what you can make through the Brew menu.
Crafting Materials and Skill Progression
One of the most important things to understand is that your equipment tiers are directly connected to your gathering and crafting skills.
For example:
- Mining → Smithing
- Foraging → Crafting
- Invoking → Imbuing
These skill pairs work together to create stronger equipment.
As your gathering skills improve, you gain access to better materials. Then, as your crafting skills improve, you can turn those materials into higher-tier weapons and armor.
Focus on Equipment Tiers
When you’re progressing through Scapewatch: Idle MMO, don’t only think about increasing the level of your combat skills.
Your equipment can make a huge difference.
Sometimes getting access to a higher equipment tier will help you more than simply adding a few extra levels to your combat skills.
Better armor means you can survive longer, while better weapons mean you can kill enemies faster.
Both of those things make it easier to continue leveling your other skills.
Build Different Loadouts
You don’t have to use one armor set for everything.
This is one of the biggest advantages of the equipment system.
You can prepare different loadouts depending on what you’re fighting.
For example:
- Use physical-defense-focused armor against physical enemies
- Use stronger Magic Defense against Magic enemies
- Choose weapons based on the enemy’s weakness
- Use different melee weapons depending on whether you need Stab, Slash, or Crush damage
- Keep ranged and Magic ammunition stocked before combat
Once you start doing more difficult content, changing your loadout based on the enemy becomes much more useful.
Crafting in Scapewatch: Idle MMO is much more than simply making a few starter weapons.
Your gathering skills, crafting skills, weapons, armor, ammunition, and potions all work together to improve your character.
If you’re just starting out, I recommend getting your basic Tier 0 equipment first and then working toward higher tiers rather than spending too much time worrying about perfect equipment immediately.
From there, focus on improving the skill pairs that unlock better equipment:
- Mining and Smithing
- Foraging and Crafting
- Invoking and Imbuing
Keep upgrading your equipment as you unlock new tiers, and don’t forget to maintain your arrows or missiles if you’re using Ranged or Magic.
Most importantly, don’t be afraid to switch loadouts. Scapewatch: Idle MMO rewards you for using the right defenses and damage types for the enemy you’re fighting.
Once you start combining strong equipment with the right skills and loadouts, combat becomes much easier and your overall progression becomes much smoother.
