If you’re progressing through Scapewatch: Idle MMO, Alms is one of the systems you really don’t want to ignore. It might not look as important as your combat or gathering skills at first, but leveling Alms can give you bonuses that improve almost everything else you do.
The good news is that Alms XP is also relatively easy to earn early in the game. The main way to get it is simply by completing quests, so if you’re already working through quests, you’re naturally making progress toward your Alms levels.
In this guide, I’ll explain how Alms XP works, why the early Alms levels are so useful, how donating Gold can help you level it faster, and why reaching the bigger Quest XP bonuses should be one of your early goals in Scapewatch: Idle MMO.
Scapewatch Idle MMO Alms XP Guide – Level Alms, Quest XP
Alms XP is a progression system that provides various bonuses as you level it up.
The easiest way to earn Alms XP is through quests.
As far as the normal quest system goes, quests provide Alms XP, and higher-tier quests generally give you more XP.
This creates a really useful progression loop:
Complete quests → gain Alms XP → unlock bonuses → earn more Quest XP → complete higher-tier quests → gain even more Alms XP.
Once this starts building up, your progression can accelerate quite quickly.
Why Alms Is Important
The reason I recommend working on Alms early is the bonuses you unlock along the way.
These bonuses can improve things such as:
- Food usage
- Arrow usage
- Missile usage
- Potion efficiency
- Quest XP
- Enemy respawn times
- Overall XP
- Task quantities
- Resource efficiency
Some of these bonuses may look small individually, but they become much more valuable when you’re playing for a long time.
How to Find Your Alms Bonuses
You can check your Alms-related bonuses through the Unlocks tab.
Open the sixth tab and scroll down to find the Alms bonuses.
As you increase your Alms level, additional bonuses will become available.
Alms Level 10
At 10 Alms, you start getting useful resource-saving bonuses.
You unlock:
- Food Saver: 2% chance to save food when eating
- Arrow Saver: 5% chance to save arrows
- Missile Saver: 5% chance to save missiles
These are particularly useful if you’re using Ranged or Magic because ammunition can otherwise become an ongoing resource cost.
The Food Saver is also useful because food is important for combat.
Alms Level 20
At 20 Alms, you unlock Potion Efficiency.
This makes your potions last longer, giving you more value from the potions you use.
It’s another example of Alms improving your overall efficiency rather than simply giving you a direct combat stat.
Alms Level 25
This is one of the most important early Alms milestones.
At 25 Alms, you get a 25% increase to Quest XP.
That’s a huge bonus because quests are already one of your main sources of Alms XP.
You also get additional resource-saving benefits around this milestone, including improved Missile Saver and Food Saver bonuses.
Because of this, reaching 25 Alms is a very worthwhile early goal.
Alms Level 30
At 30 Alms, you get a reduction to enemy respawn time.
That means mobs can come back faster, allowing you to spend less time waiting between encounters.
This becomes increasingly useful as you start doing more combat and farming specific enemies.
Alms and Luck
There is also a connection between Alms and Luck bonuses.
At 25 Luck and 25 Alms, you can unlock an XP-related bonus.
However, I wouldn’t recommend forcing Luck specifically for this.
Luck can be more random because you need to encounter Luck-related tasks, so you should generally let your Luck progress naturally rather than trying to rush it.
Focus on your normal progression and take advantage of Luck when the opportunities appear.
Bigger Alms Milestones
As you continue leveling Alms, you unlock increasingly powerful bonuses.
Some of the major Quest XP milestones include:
- 25 Alms: +25% Quest XP
- 50 Alms: +50% Quest XP
- 75 Alms: +75% Quest XP
- 99 Alms: +100% Quest XP
These bonuses are some of the most important reasons to continue leveling Alms.
The higher your Quest XP bonus becomes, the faster your future quests can help you progress.
Why Quest XP Bonuses Are So Powerful
This is where the Alms system starts to snowball.
Imagine you’re earning Alms XP from quests.
As your Alms level increases, you unlock more Quest XP.
That means every future quest becomes more valuable.
Then you use that extra Quest XP to progress through higher-tier quests, which generally provide more XP themselves.
So your progression can look something like:
More Alms → More Quest XP → Higher-tier quests → More Alms XP → Even more Quest XP.
That’s why I would prioritize getting those Quest XP milestones rather than treating Alms as something you can ignore until later.
How to Get Alms XP
The main way to earn Alms XP is simple:
Complete quests.
Every quest you finish contributes toward your Alms progression.
Higher-tier quests generally provide better rewards, so as your character develops, you should start focusing more on the higher-level quests available to you.
Focus on Higher-Tier Quests
As you unlock better quests, you’ll notice that their rewards become much more valuable.
If you have several quests available, I generally recommend working toward the higher-tier ones when you’re capable of completing them.
However, there can be reasons to complete lower-level quests too.
Some quests can have prerequisites, meaning you may need to finish earlier quests before later quests become available.
So don’t completely ignore your lower-level quests.
Quest Prerequisites
Some quests require you to complete earlier quests before you can access them.
This means that if you’re waiting for a particular quest to appear, you may need to work through the quests that come before it.
Because of this, clearing some lower-tier quests can actually help unlock better options later.
If you’re unsure why a particular quest hasn’t appeared yet, check whether another quest needs to be completed first.
Using Gold to Gain Alms XP
There is another way to increase your Alms level, especially during the early game.
You can donate Gold through the Alms tab.
Open the seventh tab to access the Alms donation screen.
From there, you can put some of your Gold toward Alms and gain Alms XP immediately.
Gold-to-Alms XP Ratio
Early on, the basic conversion is very straightforward:
1 Gold = 1 Alms XP
This makes donating Gold surprisingly useful when you’re still at a low Alms level.
For example, if you have several thousand Gold sitting around and don’t have an immediate use for it, donating some of it can help push you toward an important Alms milestone.
Should You Donate All Your Gold?
I wouldn’t recommend blindly donating all your Gold.
Gold is useful for plenty of other things, so you should keep enough available for your normal progression.
However, early in the game, if you have excess Gold, putting some of it into Alms can be worthwhile.
The main target I would consider is reaching important milestones such as 25 Alms, especially because of the Quest XP bonus.
Why Gold Donations Become Worse Later
The problem with donating Gold is that Alms XP requirements continue to increase.
Early on, getting Alms XP through Gold donations is relatively cheap.
Later, you may need enormous amounts of Gold to gain another Alms level.
Once you’re dealing with very large XP requirements, spending huge amounts of Gold on Alms becomes much less efficient.
That’s why I would use Gold donations mainly as an early-game boost rather than relying on them forever.
When Should You Stop Donating Gold?
Once you’re around 50 Alms or higher, I would generally stop treating Gold donations as your main source of Alms XP.
If you happen to have a huge amount of spare Gold, you can still use it, but it isn’t something you need to prioritize.
For example, if you suddenly have hundreds of thousands of Gold available, you might decide to put some toward Alms.
But for normal progression, quests are the better long-term source.
Total Level Bonuses
Alms isn’t only about the individual bonuses shown in the Alms section.
You also get Total Level Bonuses as your overall skill levels increase.
These bonuses can increase the base quantity of your tasks.
Tasks have minimum and maximum quantities, which can also be affected by your skill weighting.
As your total level increases, these quantities can naturally become larger.
That means your overall progression affects how much you can accomplish through your tasks.
Alms Gives You Better Efficiency
One of the biggest themes behind Alms is efficiency.
As you level Alms, you gain bonuses that can help you:
- Earn more Quest XP
- Save Food
- Save Arrows
- Save Missiles
- Get more value from Potions
- Reduce enemy respawn times
- Increase task quantities
- Improve overall XP progression
None of these systems exist in isolation.
They all work together to make your character more efficient over time.
Alms is one of those systems in Scapewatch: Idle MMO that becomes more valuable the longer you play.
The early bonuses are already useful, but the big reason to level Alms is the Quest XP progression. Reaching 25 Alms for +25% Quest XP, then eventually pushing toward the larger Quest XP bonuses, can make your overall progression much faster.
For the early game, use quests as your main source of Alms XP and consider donating spare Gold when you need a small boost. As your Alms requirements grow, rely more heavily on quests instead of dumping huge amounts of Gold into the system.
If you keep completing quests, unlock the important Alms milestones, and gradually move into higher-tier quests, your Alms progression will start feeding into your entire account progression.
