If you jump into Monster Lab Simulator thinking you can just start mixing whatever essences you want right away, the game shuts that idea down pretty fast. The whole creature system is locked tightly behind progression levels, and that’s honestly where most players waste time early on — they keep trying recipes that literally cannot work yet.
So the real trick to unlocking every creature isn’t just knowing the recipes. It’s understanding when the game actually allows you to make them, how to manage your lab without drowning in trash, and how to level efficiently without running out of money.
Because yeah… if you play blindly, your lab turns into a garbage pile within like twenty minutes.
Unlock System
Everything in the game revolves around essence types, and these don’t unlock all at once. Progression is strictly level-based, meaning until you hit certain milestones, entire categories of creatures are simply impossible to craft.
At level 2, you get access to Neutral and Fire essence. This is where your first real creature crafting starts, and most early species come from combinations of these two.
Water essence doesn’t unlock until level 7, which is a noticeable grind wall. A lot of players hit this point and feel stuck because suddenly new recipes appear in guides but remain locked in their menu.
Nature essence finally unlocks at level 9. Once you reach this stage, the last batch of base creatures becomes available.
Until you reach those levels, trying to use higher-tier elements won’t even let you select them. The menu just stays locked, which is the game’s way of telling you you’re jumping ahead.
How Creature Crafting Actually Works
Every creature egg requires exactly three essence vials. That part seems simple, but there’s a hidden side effect the game barely explains.
Each egg you create produces at least three pieces of trash — usually the empty vials. And since you’re constantly crafting, this builds up insanely fast.
Like… your lab doesn’t slowly get messy. It turns into chaos almost immediately if you don’t stay on top of it.
You technically have two ways to deal with this. One is manual cleanup using the suction grappler tool, which works but becomes extremely tedious. The other option is saving up $5,000 for the cleaning robot, which automatically handles trash.
This is one of those situations where the expensive upgrade is absolutely worth it. The bot saves a massive amount of time and keeps your workflow smooth, especially once you start mass crafting higher-tier eggs.
Why Amber Matters More Than You Think
Amber isn’t just another resource — it controls egg rarity, which directly impacts your creatures’ base stats.
You can melt amber to influence whether an egg becomes common, uncommon, rare, epic, or legendary. Higher rarity creatures are significantly stronger, especially in combat modes.
If you plan to compete in the arena, rarity stops being optional. It becomes necessary.
A lot of players ignore amber early on because they focus only on unlocking species, but later they realize their creatures are underpowered because they never invested in better egg quality.
Leveling Efficiently Without Getting Stuck
Reaching the higher unlock levels isn’t about grinding random tasks. The fastest way to progress is through the quest system.
The game constantly gives daily and weekly challenges, and these are designed to push you toward efficient gameplay loops. You’ll see tasks like using the incubator, melting amber, crafting certain types of creatures, or participating in battles.
Weekly challenges especially give huge experience rewards. Ignoring them slows progression dramatically.
If you run out of money or things to do, you can use the couch to sleep and fast-forward time, which refreshes available activities. But the game limits how often you can do this, so you can’t just skip your way to level 9 instantly.
The Lottery System (Most Players Underuse This)
One of the easiest ways to get valuable materials is through the battle lottery system.
Every time you participate in 3v3 battles, you earn lottery tickets. Losing gives one ticket, winning gives two. These tickets can then be redeemed for rewards like amber, rare eggs, or extra essence.
This system is incredibly useful because it gives access to high-tier resources without spending large amounts of money.
Even if you aren’t confident in combat yet, it’s still worth participating just for the guaranteed tickets.
Early Creature Priorities
When you first unlock crafting, you should focus on creatures made from Neutral and Fire essences. These are designed as starter species and help you progress quickly.
Once Water unlocks at level 7, adding water-based creatures becomes important because they tend to have more balanced stats.
When Nature finally unlocks, you gain access to the last set of base creatures, completing the full collection.
From there, the real depth begins — because every base creature can evolve into two matured forms, which significantly expands the total number of possible monsters.
The Real Secret to Unlocking Everything
Unlocking all creatures isn’t really about memorizing recipes. It’s about managing progression properly.
You need to keep your lab clean so crafting stays efficient. You need to invest in amber so your creatures aren’t weak. You need to focus on quests instead of random grinding so you actually unlock new essence tiers.
Once those systems are working together, unlocking all 20 base species happens naturally.
The game only feels slow when you fight its systems instead of working with them.
