Mesmalie Act 4 Guide – Unlock Secret Fourth Act Walkthrough

If you’ve already reached the ending of Mesmalie and expected the story to be over, you’re not alone. The game quietly hides an entire fourth act, and it’s surprisingly easy to miss during a normal playthrough.

The tricky part is that the game never tells you what you’re supposed to do differently. There aren’t any obvious quest markers or pop-ups pointing you in the right direction, so most players simply replay the game the same way and wonder why nothing changes.

The good news is that unlocking Act 4 isn’t complicated once you know what to look for. Below, I’ll walk you through every step, explain why it matters, and point out the small details that are easy to overlook.

Mesmalie Act 4 Guide – Unlock Secret Fourth Act Walkthrough

After completing your first playthrough, start a new run from the beginning. This isn’t a New Game Plus feature with extra menus or settings—you simply replay the story while paying attention to an interaction that most players ignore the first time around.

The secret starts before you continue into the second session, so don’t rush through the early sections.

Step 1 – Explore Everything Before Starting the Second Session

As soon as your new playthrough begins, slow down.

Instead of immediately progressing the story, spend some time interacting with objects and characters around you. The important trigger happens before you leave for the second session.

There’s one particular character that has additional dialogue, and speaking with them is what begins the hidden questline leading to Act 4.

If you skip this conversation, you’ll never see the new story content later.

Step 2 – Talk to the Creature in the Cage

This is the part that catches almost everyone.

Head into the study room and look for the creature trapped inside the cage. If you remember your first playthrough, this is the same creature that warned you against continuing the ritual.

Don’t just speak to it once.

Keep talking until you’ve exhausted all of its dialogue options. Eventually, it’ll ask you for help, and this request is what unlocks the hidden progression.

If you’ve been replaying the game without talking to the creature, this is almost certainly why Act 4 never appeared.

Step 3 – Gather the Three Requested Items

The creature asks you to bring three different items:

  • Paper
  • Pen
  • Ink

Thankfully, they’re all found fairly early.

Where to Find the Paper

The paper is the easiest item to collect.

It’s simply lying inside the study room, so look around carefully and pick it up before moving on.

Where to Find the Pen

The pen is a little more hidden.

Walk over to the sofa and use your Magick ability. Doing this reveals a feather, which serves as the pen required for the quest.

If you’re only searching normally without using Magick, you’ll completely miss it.

Where to Find the Ink

For the ink, visit Mesmer’s room.

Again, use your Magick ability. This reveals a bowl of paint, which counts as the ink needed by the creature.

Return all three items once you’ve collected them.

Step 4 – Continue Playing Normally

After completing the creature’s request, there’s nothing else you need to force.

Simply continue progressing through the game exactly as you normally would.

Eventually you’ll reach a checkpoint where you’ll notice a brain icon appearing in the upper-right corner of the screen.

This is the sign that the hidden route has been successfully activated.

Step 5 – Start Session 3 Again

Once you’ve reached the checkpoint with the brain symbol:

  1. Exit to the main menu.
  2. Choose to start from the beginning of Session 3.

Don’t worry—you don’t need to replay everything from scratch again.

When Session 3 begins, watch for a new dialogue option that wasn’t available before.

This appears shortly before setting up the trap for the deer.

Selecting this new option is what allows you to continue onto the hidden Act 4 storyline.
