Manhwa Legends Beginner Guide – Refining System, Raids

Starting Manhwa Legends for the first time can feel a little overwhelming. There are summons, traits, refining, evolution materials, raids, guilds, story stages, and a bunch of different currencies all thrown at you within the first few minutes.

The good news? The game is actually much simpler than it looks once you understand what each system does.

I’ve spent quite a bit of time looking through how the progression works, and one thing I really like is that Manhwa Legends doesn’t force you into making permanent mistakes early on. Even if you don’t pull the perfect unit immediately, you can still build a strong account as long as you focus on the right upgrades and avoid wasting valuable resources.

If you’re just beginning your adventure, this Manhwa Legends Beginner Guide will walk you through everything you need to know—from your first summons all the way to raids and guild progression.

Manhwa Legends Beginner Guide – Refining System, Raids

Once you finish the tutorial, you’ll receive your starter unit along with enough Gems to perform some summons.

Don’t stress if you don’t instantly pull the rarest character. Your first objective isn’t building the perfect collection—it’s creating a team that can comfortably clear Story Mode so you can unlock more features and farm resources faster.

As your account grows, stronger units will naturally come your way.

Best Units to Aim For Early

Not every Mythic has the same value during the early game. Some characters help you progress much faster than others.

Viol Grace

If there’s one DPS unit worth chasing early, it’s Viol Grace.

He deals excellent damage right from the start and becomes even stronger once his ability activates.

His skill provides:

  • Massive range increase
  • Guaranteed Critical Hits
  • Bonus Critical Damage

That combination lets him clear waves much faster than many other early-game Mythics.

If you summon him early, he’ll likely carry your account through most of the early content.

Kim

Kim is one of the most unique units currently available.

Instead of simply dealing damage, he can copy passive abilities from other units.

That opens the door to some incredibly powerful team combinations later in the game.

Even if Kim isn’t your main damage dealer, his flexibility makes him valuable throughout progression.

Ancient

Ancient might not seem amazing at first glance, but skipping him is a mistake.

He’s required for unlocking one of the game’s strongest Secret Units.

His evolved passive allows him to collect Constellations whenever enemies are defeated.

Eventually you’ll need roughly 1,850 Constellations to unlock the special Secret character.

Because of this, the earlier you obtain Ancient, the sooner you can begin making progress toward that long-term goal.

Think of him as an investment rather than immediate power.

Support Units

Damage isn’t everything.

You’ll also want support characters that strengthen your entire team.

Current standout supports include:

  • Lloyd
  • Yori

One specializes in farming while the other provides valuable damage buffs.

Support characters usually don’t top the damage charts themselves, but they’ll increase the effectiveness of your entire team.

Other Good Early Units

Some additional units that perform well include:

  • Beast
  • White Wolf

They’re solid options if you don’t immediately pull the top-tier Mythics.

Should You Chase Secret Units?

Secret Units are incredibly powerful, but they’re designed as long-term goals.

For example, the Insect Monarch is considered one of the strongest characters in the game.

However, beginners shouldn’t spend all their resources trying to obtain Secrets immediately.

Instead:

  • Build a reliable Story team.
  • Farm evolution materials.
  • Improve your account.
  • Work toward Secret Units naturally.

You’ll reach them much faster this way.

Understanding the Refining System

One of the most confusing mechanics for new players is Refining.

Many players assume it’s just another upgrade system.

It isn’t.

Instead of directly increasing stats, you’re unlocking higher stat tiers over time.

Here’s how it works:

  • Use Refining Stones.
  • Each refinement has a success chance.
  • Successful refinements unlock stronger stats.
  • Higher refinements require enemy takedowns before becoming active.

This means you can evolve a unit immediately and finish refining later without losing progress.

It’s actually a very player-friendly system because nothing forces you to completely finish a unit before moving on.

Don’t Waste Your Trait Rerolls

This is probably the biggest beginner mistake.

Trait Rerolls are much rarer than they appear.

Many new players keep rerolling because they’re chasing extremely rare Mythic or 0.1% Traits.

That’s usually a bad idea.

The game is balanced well enough that many players complete difficult content using Legendary Traits.

Instead:

  • Save rerolls.
  • Use them only on characters you’ll keep for a long time.
  • Avoid rerolling temporary units.

Your future self will thank you.

Evolution Guide

Eventually every strong unit will need to evolve.

Evolution requires several different resources, including:

  • Rank Scrolls
  • Elemental Scrolls
  • Evolution Materials

Thankfully, most of these materials are fairly easy to obtain.

Daily Challenges reward Universal Scrolls, which can later be crafted into whichever element you need.

That means even if today’s challenge doesn’t give the exact scroll you’re looking for, you’re still making progress.

Where to Farm Scrolls

The best sources include:

  • Daily Challenges
  • Crafting
  • Challenge rewards
  • Gold Shop

Always keep farming these because future updates will introduce new units that need the same materials.

Having extra scrolls saved up will save you hours later.

Story Mode Progression

Story Mode should be your main priority.

It unlocks:

  • Better rewards
  • Evolution materials
  • New farming stages
  • More account progression

Each world contains multiple Acts before eventually leading into Infinite Mode.

Every Chronicle Stage also drops specific evolution materials for different characters.

If you need a certain evolution item, check which Chronicle Stage drops it instead of farming random maps.

This saves an incredible amount of time.

Gold Shop Tips

The Gold Shop refreshes every day.

Many players ignore it.

Don’t.

Always check for:

  • Scrolls
  • Food
  • Useful upgrade materials

Gold becomes much easier to earn later, so spending it on valuable progression materials is usually worth it.

Raids Explained

Raids are considered endgame content.

If you’re new, don’t worry about clearing them immediately.

Besides powerful rewards, raids also introduce unique mechanics instead of simply asking you to deal more damage.

For example, during one raid the temple lights up in different colors.

Players must pray at the statue matching that color.

Choose incorrectly and the boss completely restores its health.

That means raids require actual attention rather than simple auto-farming.

Playing with teammates also makes raids much easier.

Complete Your Quests

The Quest menu is much more important than it first appears.

Several powerful characters are tied to Questlines.

For example, certain evolution requirements ask you to:

  • Bring specific characters
  • Reach certain Infinite waves
  • Clear designated stages

Some Secret Units also require lengthy quest chains before becoming available.

Always check your active quests before farming.

You might already be working toward several rewards without realizing it.

Achievements Are Worth Doing

Achievements reward valuable resources like Trait Rerolls and other progression items.

Many of them naturally complete while you’re playing.

Still, it’s worth checking occasionally because claiming rewards is easy to forget.

Free rerolls are always welcome.

Join a Guild Early

Even if you’re a solo player, joining a Guild is one of the smartest things you can do.

Guilds unlock at Level 10.

As your guild gains experience, everyone benefits from additional bonuses.

Some of the later Guild upgrades include:

  • More member slots
  • Gold boosts
  • Experience boosts
  • Unit EXP boosts
  • Shop discounts
  • Movement speed bonuses
  • Better Shiny chances

These bonuses continue improving as the guild levels up, making them useful for every player regardless of spending level.

Battle Pass Rewards

The Battle Pass offers more than just cosmetics.

Progressing through it rewards:

  • Upgrade materials
  • Resources
  • Exclusive Units
  • Premium rewards for paid users

Even free players should work on Battle Pass missions since many rewards help accelerate progression.

Manhwa Legends has a surprising amount of depth for a Roblox anime tower defense game, but once you understand how everything connects, the progression becomes much smoother.

My biggest advice is to stay patient. Don’t feel pressured to chase every new Mythic or reroll endlessly for perfect Traits. Focus on building a balanced team, clear Story Mode consistently, complete your quests, and stockpile upgrade materials. Those small daily improvements add up much faster than gambling all your resources at once.

As more worlds, units, and raids are added, players who manage their resources wisely early on will have a much easier time keeping up with future updates. Build your foundation first, and the powerful characters will come naturally as your account grows.
