Locomoto Beginner Guide & Walkthrough
Tools
Hammer, Mop, and Recycling Bag
These are the first tools you’ll get and you don’t even need to hunt them down. Just follow Finley’s instructions during the opening train tutorial, and these three tools will be automatically added to your inventory. Simple and stress-free.
How to Get the Axe
The axe is your first “earned” tool, and it’s tied to a light-hearted side quest.
Steps:
- Take the train from Barrenpyre to Marigold Market, then to Evergreen Cross, and finally to Peteny.
- Find and talk to Katja in Peteny.
- She’ll ask you to help her make a sandwich. It doesn’t matter what ingredients you choose.
- Once the sandwich is done, Katja will thank you and reward you with the axe.
How to Get the Fishing Rod
This one’s a bit trickier and might take some persistence, but it’s worth the effort.
Steps:
- Go to the beach in Barrenpyre and find Loretta.
- She’s looking for her lost fishing lure — find it nearby and return it to her.
- After this, you must progress the main story by completing the quest “Bad News” — which involves taking Liam to the doctor and informing the town about the smog.
- Now return to Loretta and keep talking to her. In some cases, you may need to speak with her multiple times (two tries worked in most playthroughs).
- Eventually, she’ll start a new line of dialogue starting with “What’s up?” and give you a quest called “Fishing for Something”.
- Go to her dock and interact with a fishing spot (press E to cast your rod).
- Watch for exclamation marks (!) to appear. As soon as they show up, press the left mouse button immediately to pull the rod.
- You’ll catch a book called “Angling Across the Pond”.
- Return the book to Loretta, and she’ll let you keep her old fishing rod.
- Your personal Fishing Rod will then appear in your Tool Storage.
How to Get the Shovel
The shovel requires a bit of progress into the story and access to new stations.
Steps:
- Continue completing quests until the route between Trough and Newgale Station opens up.
- Once available, ride the train to Pickaxe Point.
- Find and speak to Tonya — she’ll ask for your help in delivering wood to build a fence.
- Complete her quest, and she’ll reward you with the shovel.
Note: Some players claim you might be able to get the shovel earlier from Aya after cleaning up the town, but this hasn’t been confirmed.
How to Get the Pickaxe (Longest Tool to Unlock)
This is the last major tool and takes the most time to get.
Steps:
- Keep progressing through the main story quests until you reach the quest called “The One Year Collapse”.
- During this mission, you’ll be sent to Hammerweld Station to meet Horst.
- Horst will ask you to gather iron for a batch of pickaxes.
- As part of this task, he’ll gift you a pickaxe so you can help collect materials.
“Back to School” Quest
To become an Intermediate Crafter, you’ll need to pass Rosalind’s Exam.
Steps:
Talk to Rosalind and accept her crafting exam.
Answer the following questions:
Q1: What shape is Rosalind’s crafting table?
- Two tiles horizontally, three tiles vertically.
Q2: What furniture set can be made using Rosalind’s crafting table?
- The standard set.
Q3: What type of wood can’t be found in Salsglade?
- Cherry and Wallnut.
Take the completed exam back to her. She’ll praise your perfect score and gift you an Intermediate Crafting Table to replace the old one on your train.
