If you’re wondering how to catch Moon Idols Fish in Blue Moon events, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know. Moon Idols are rare, secret fish that can only be caught during Blue Moon events. There are two types, depending on where you fish:
- Moon Idol Sea 1 – Found at Snowcap Island
- Moon Idol Sea 2 – Found at Lushgrove
How to Catch Moon Idols Fish in Blue Moon Update
Moon Idols are rare, secret fish that can only be caught during Blue Moon events. There are two versions of the fish: the Moon Idol from Sea 1, which is found at Snowcap Island, and the Moon Idol from Sea 2, which is found at Lushgrove. Although they are technically different fish depending on where they’re caught, they serve the same function and are only used for selling.
To catch a Moon Idol, you first need to trigger a Blue Moon. Blue Moons only occur in Winter and only on Clear Nights. They can happen randomly across the server, but players can also force them by using a Blue Moon Totem, which is only usable during a Clear Winter Night. Alternatively, Sundial Totems can be used to force Clear Nights during Winter, increasing the chance of a natural Blue Moon occurring.
Once the Blue Moon begins, travel to either Snowcap Island at coordinates (2710, 190, 2560) or Lushgrove at (1410, 155, -580). When the event is active, special doors at both locations will open automatically, granting access to exclusive Blue Moon fishing pools where Moon Idols can be caught.
When you arrive at one of the Blue Moon pools, start fishing with your best rod and bait. The Moon Idol is a rare catch, so it may take multiple attempts before you get one. When you finally catch a Moon Idol, the fishing rod you used will be granted the “Moon-Kissed” buff, which lasts for 24 in-game hours. This buff increases XP gained from all fish by 50%, gives a 10% chance to double the weight of fish, adds a 5% chance to catch a special Moon-Kissed Mutation, and visually enhances the rod with shimmering effects. The buff only applies to the rod that caught the Moon Idol, so switching to another rod will deactivate it, though it will remain on the original rod for the full duration.
After catching a Moon Idol, there is nothing else you can do with it except sell it. If the fish was caught at Snowcap Island (Sea 1), it can be sold for C$, while one caught at Lushgrove (Sea 2) can be sold for E$.
Step 1: Unlock a Blue Moon Event
You can only catch Moon Idols during a Blue Moon night, which happens in Winter and only on Clear Nights.
Ways to trigger a Blue Moon:
- Naturally (random chance, server-wide)
- Blue Moon Totem – Use it during a Clear Winter Night
- Sundial Totems – Force a Clear Night in Winter
Step 2: Travel to a Blue Moon Fishing Spot
Once a Blue Moon starts, special doors will open at:
Snowcap Island – (2710, 190, 2560)
Lushgrove – (1410, 155, -580)
These locations give access to unique fishing pools, each tied to a different sea. You can only catch Moon Idols inside these pools during the Blue Moon.
Step 3: Start Fishing
-
Use your best fishing rod and bait.
-
Fish only within the Blue Moon pool.
-
The Moon Idol has a low chance to appear, so keep casting!
Step 4: Check for the Buff
When you catch a Moon Idol, you’ll get the “Moon-Kissed” buff on the rod you used:
- Buff lasts for 24 hours and gives:
- +50% XP from all fish
- +10% chance to double fish weight
- +5% chance to catch a Moon-Kissed Mutation
- Shimmering visual effect on the rod
Note: The buff is tied to the rod you caught it with. Switching rods will disable the buff unless you switch back.
Step 5: Sell or Show Off
Moon Idols cannot be used for crafting or anything else.
You can only sell them, and which currency you get depends on the sea:
- Sea 1 → C$
- Sea 2 → E$
