If you are playing Horde Siege in Gears of War: E-Day and are wondering which class you should use, you have come to the right place. With several classes available, choosing the right one can make a big difference when you are trying to survive wave after wave of enemies.
In this post, I will go through the best Horde classes in Gears of War: E-Day and rank them from S Tier to B Tier. I will also explain what makes each class good, where it struggles, and what kind of role you can expect it to play when you are fighting alongside your team.
I personally think the best class depends on how you like to play, but some classes simply offer more value than others in Horde Siege. So, let’s go through the complete tier list and see which classes are worth using.
Gears of War E-Day Horde Classes Tier List (October 2026)
Here is how I would rank the current Horde Siege classes:
| Tier | Class |
|---|---|
| S Tier | Medic |
| A Tier | Breacher |
| A Tier | Marksman |
| B Tier | Assault |
The Medic takes the S Tier spot because of its incredible utility and ability to keep the entire team alive. It can also deal solid damage, so you are not sacrificing your offensive power by playing a support class.
The Breacher and Marksman are both strong A Tier choices, but they specialize in very different roles. Breacher is much better at surviving and taking enemy aggro, while Marksman is focused on dealing consistent damage from range.
The Assault class is still useful and has good overall damage, but it doesn’t have the same specialized strengths that the other classes bring to the team.
Tier List Criteria
Before getting into each class, here is how I ranked them:
S Tier
S Tier classes have strong survivability and damage while also being able to handle bosses effectively. These classes can perform well in almost any situation and bring something extremely valuable to a Horde team.
A Tier
A Tier classes can deal respectable damage and have good survivability, but they aren’t quite as versatile or valuable as an S Tier class.
B Tier
B Tier classes are still usable, but they either deal less damage or have a harder time surviving compared to the classes above them. They can work well in the right situation, but they aren’t my first choices for difficult Horde runs.
Assault Class – B Tier
The Assault Class is a solid all-rounder with good damage, but I would place it in B Tier because it doesn’t really specialize in one particular area.
Assault Class Pros
- Good all-around damage
- Tactical Gear can stun enemies
- Mods can improve its effectiveness while taking cover
- Can support teammates by creating opportunities to attack stunned enemies
Assault Class Cons
- Being an all-rounder means it isn’t the best at any specific role
- Other classes have more specialized abilities and loadouts
- Doesn’t provide as much unique utility as the higher-ranked classes
The Assault Class is definitely not bad. You can deal good damage with it, and its Tactical Gear can stun groups of enemies. This can be really useful when your team needs a moment to focus fire on a group of enemies.
You can also use mods to increase your damage against stunned enemies and improve certain stats while you are behind cover. So, if you like a balanced playstyle, Assault can still be enjoyable.
The problem is that the other classes simply do their jobs better. When I compare Assault to the other options, I don’t see a major reason to choose it unless you specifically like playing an all-rounder.
Breacher Class – A Tier
The Breacher Class is one of the best choices if you like playing aggressively and getting into close-range fights. I put it in A Tier because it combines strong survivability with good damage.
Breacher Class Pros
- High survivability
- Good damage
- Tactical Gear essentially gives you another health bar
- Can take enemy aggro away from teammates
- Excellent for close-to-mid-range combat
Breacher Class Cons
- Doesn’t provide much utility outside of taking enemy aggro
- Its main role is focused around tanking and dealing damage
The biggest strength of Breacher is its Adrenaline Injector. This Tactical Gear can fully heal you, which essentially gives you a second chance at surviving a dangerous situation.
During its duration, it also reduces the damage you take and increases the damage you deal. Because of this, you can confidently take close-range and mid-range fights without worrying as much about getting overwhelmed.
I also like the fact that Breacher can take enemy aggro for the rest of the team. This gives your teammates more freedom to deal damage while you keep enemies focused on you.
The main weakness is its lack of additional utility. Outside of tanking enemies and dealing damage, it doesn’t bring as much team support as the Medic.
Marksman Class – A Tier
The Marksman Class is another excellent choice, especially if you are comfortable fighting from range and have good aim.
Marksman Class Pros
- Can deal with enemies at different ranges
- Tactical Gear can reveal enemies
- Consistent ranged damage
- Works very well with cover
- Can help the team attack enemies through smoke
Marksman Class Cons
- Doesn’t have many defensive options
- Requires good positioning
- Requires good aim, especially with sniper weapons
- Needs to stay behind cover to get the most out of the class
Marksman has some really good tools for Horde Siege. Its loadout allows you to deal strong damage from range, while its Tactical Gear can reveal enemies.
One combination I really like is using its enemy-revealing ability together with a Smoke Grenade. This can allow your team to shoot at enemies through the smoke while still maintaining the protection of cover.
The main thing you need to remember with Marksman is positioning. You can’t simply run into the middle of a group of enemies and expect to survive. You need to stay at a good distance, use cover properly, and make your shots count.
If you already have good aim and enjoy using sniper-style weapons, Marksman can be one of the strongest classes in your hands.
Medic Class – S Tier
Finally, we have the Medic, which I consider the best overall Horde Siege class in Gears of War: E-Day.
Medic Class Pros
- Extremely useful in almost every combat situation
- Can consistently heal teammates
- Has multiple ways to revive allies
- Can provide huge value to the entire team
- Can deal good damage
- Excellent overall utility
Medic Class Cons
- Tactical Gear has a fairly long cooldown
- Mods may be needed to reduce the impact of the cooldown
The Medic is easily one of the most valuable classes you can have on a Horde team. Keeping your teammates alive is incredibly important when you are trying to survive multiple waves, and Medic is built specifically around doing that.
Its Tactical Gear provides consistent healing, while the class also has multiple ways to revive teammates. This means your team can get back into the fight much faster after someone goes down.
Another thing I like about Medic is that it isn’t completely focused on support. You can still deal good damage while keeping your teammates alive, so you don’t feel like you are giving up your ability to fight just because you chose the healer role.
The Medic can even survive dangerous situations better than you might expect because of its healing capabilities. The biggest downside is the cooldown on its Tactical Gear, but you can reduce this problem with the right mods.
The class also gets early access to the Gut-Puncher, a grenade launcher that is extremely versatile. It can deal with groups of enemies effectively, giving Medic some nice offensive power alongside its healing abilities.
For me, this combination of healing, revives, survivability, utility, and damage is what puts Medic above every other class in this Horde Siege tier list.
Final Thoughts
If you want my overall recommendation, I would go with Medic as the best Horde Siege class in Gears of War: E-Day. It brings so much value to a team and can help you recover from situations where another class might struggle.
Breacher is a great option if you want to be the frontline player who takes enemy aggro and survives through heavy damage. Marksman is ideal if you prefer staying at range and are confident with your aim.
Assault is still a perfectly usable all-rounder, but I would personally choose one of the other classes if I wanted to maximize my effectiveness in Horde Siege.
So, my current ranking is Medic in S Tier, Breacher and Marksman in A Tier, and Assault in B Tier. If you are building a team for Horde Siege, having a Medic can make a huge difference, especially during the tougher waves and boss encounters.
