Gears of War E-Day Best Weapon Tier List (October 2026)

If you are playing Gears of War: E-Day and wondering which weapons are actually worth using, this guide will help you choose the best ones. There are quite a few weapons available, but not all of them perform equally well in every situation.

In this post, I will go through the best weapons in Gears of War: E-Day and rank them from S Tier to C Tier. I will also explain what makes each weapon good, where it performs best, and which weapons I would personally pick when going into different combat situations.

Some weapons are great because they are reliable at almost any range, while others are much more useful when you are fighting in a specific way. So, let’s go through the complete weapon tier list and see which guns are worth keeping in your loadout.

Gears of War E-Day Best Weapon Tier List

Here is my current ranking of the weapons in Gears of War: E-Day:

Tier Weapons
S Tier Lancer Mk1, Prototype Lancer, Ripper
A Tier Longshot, Breechshot, Incinerator, Gut-Puncher
B Tier Torque Bow, Striga, Hammerburst
C Tier Snub, Striga

The Lancer Mk1 and Prototype Lancer are two of the most reliable weapons because they are flexible and can perform well at different ranges.

The Ripper also deserves an S Tier ranking thanks to its extremely high DPS. Even though it becomes available later in the game and has some ammo and reload drawbacks, its damage output makes it a very strong weapon.

Weapon Tier List Criteria

Before looking at each weapon individually, here is how I decided on the rankings.

S Tier

S Tier weapons are the most reliable choices overall. They can perform well in almost any combat situation and remain effective at different ranges.

These weapons can usually act as your main weapon, meaning you don’t need to constantly switch to your secondary weapon unless you run out of ammunition.

A Tier

A Tier weapons are excellent, but they are usually better in specific situations. They can be extremely strong when used correctly, but I would still recommend having another weapon available for situations where they aren’t ideal.

B Tier

B Tier weapons are decent across the board. They can certainly get the job done, but they aren’t usually my first choice when stronger options are available.

C Tier

C Tier weapons are more like emergency options. They can still be useful when you have nothing better available, but I wouldn’t choose them over the weapons in the higher tiers.

Lancer Mk1 – S Tier

The Lancer Mk1 is one of the best overall weapons in Gears of War: E-Day. It is available relatively early and remains useful throughout the game, which makes it a weapon I would happily keep in my loadout.

Lancer Mk1 Pros

  • Very versatile
  • Can be used in semi-auto or full-auto mode
  • High damage
  • Effective at all ranges

Lancer Mk1 Cons

  • High recoil
  • Bayonet isn’t particularly useful

One of the biggest reasons I like the Lancer Mk1 is its flexibility. You can switch between semi-auto and full-auto fire depending on what you are fighting.

It also deals good damage and works at both close and long ranges. This makes it a very safe weapon to use because you don’t have to completely change your playstyle whenever the combat situation changes.

The biggest issue is its recoil, which can take some time to get used to. The bayonet also isn’t particularly impressive, so I wouldn’t choose this weapon specifically for its melee ability.

Overall, though, the Lancer Mk1 is one of the easiest weapons to recommend because it is simply reliable.

Prototype Lancer – S Tier

The Prototype Lancer is another excellent assault rifle and one of the most useful weapons you can have. I would put it right alongside the Lancer Mk1 in S Tier.

Prototype Lancer Pros

  • Very versatile
  • Large magazine
  • Large ammunition pool
  • Fast and stable fire rate
  • Powerful chainsaw melee attack

Prototype Lancer Cons

  • Average damage per shot

The Prototype Lancer feels like a more aggressive version of the Lancer Mk1. While its individual shots don’t have the most impressive damage, it makes up for that with its large magazine, plentiful ammunition, and stable fire rate.

The biggest reason you will probably enjoy using this weapon is the chainsaw. It gives you a powerful melee option that can instantly execute Locust grunts when you get close enough.

I also like how forgiving the weapon is when fighting multiple enemies. Since you have plenty of ammunition and a large magazine, you can keep firing without constantly worrying about running out of bullets.

If you want a dependable assault rifle that also gives you a strong melee option, the Prototype Lancer is an excellent choice.

Ripper – S Tier

The Ripper is one of the most dangerous weapons on this list when it comes to raw damage. I put it in S Tier because of its incredibly high DPS.

Ripper Pros

  • Extremely high DPS
  • Can be looted from enemy corpses
  • Rate of fire increases while shooting
  • Can tear through enemies very quickly

Ripper Cons

  • Low ammo count for its weapon class
  • Slow reload speed
  • Requires a high class level to access through the loadout

The Ripper lives up to its name. Once you start firing, it can absolutely shred enemies with its rapid-fire power.

One of its most interesting features is that its rate of fire increases as you continue shooting. This allows you to build up an incredible amount of damage if you can stay on target.

The weapon does have some drawbacks. Its ammunition pool is relatively low compared to other weapons in the same class, and its reload speed is slow. You also need a high enough class level to access it through your loadout.

However, I don’t think those drawbacks are enough to knock it out of S Tier. The sheer amount of damage it can produce makes it one of the best weapons to have when you need to tear through enemies quickly.

Another nice thing is that you can loot the Ripper from Locust corpses, so you may be able to get your hands on one even when you aren’t carrying it as part of your starting loadout.

If you want the safest weapons to use in Gears of War: E-Day, I would personally stick with the Lancer Mk1, Prototype Lancer, or Ripper. All three are capable of dealing with a wide variety of combat situations and can serve as reliable primary weapons.

The Lancer Mk1 is probably the easiest all-round recommendation because it is available early and works well at almost every range. The Prototype Lancer is great if you want plenty of ammunition and a powerful chainsaw attack, while the Ripper is the weapon I would pick when raw DPS is the priority.

The A Tier weapons can still be excellent depending on the situation, while B and C Tier weapons are better kept as alternatives when you don’t have access to something stronger.

For me, the most important thing is having a weapon that fits the fight. But if you simply want to know which weapons are the safest overall choices, Lancer Mk1, Prototype Lancer, and Ripper are the ones I would prioritize.
