Fisch Drylands Update Guide – Codes, Desert Expansion

The latest Fisch update has finally arrived, and it’s much bigger than a simple content drop. The new Drylands region introduces an entirely different way to fish, new weather systems, a prehistoric creature roaming the desert, fresh equipment to craft, and a limited-time Fourth of July event.

Whether you’re jumping in for the new questline or hunting every new fish and fossil, here’s everything you need to know about the update.

Fisch Drylands Update Guide – Codes, Desert Expansion

Explore the New Drylands Region

The biggest addition is the Drylands, a massive desert area unlike anything previously available in Fisch.

Instead of fishing in lakes or the ocean, you’ll spend much of your time exploring sandy dunes, claypans, and ancient ruins hidden beneath the desert.

The area is packed with new collectibles, exclusive fish, fossils, weather events, and quest objectives, so expect to spend quite a while uncovering everything.

Meet Paleontologist Petri

One of the first NPCs you’ll want to find is Paleontologist Petri.

Petri introduces an entirely new questline focused on excavating fossils buried beneath the Drylands.

As you progress through the quests, you’ll gradually uncover the history of the desert while earning powerful rewards along the way.

The story also hints at awakening something ancient hidden beneath the sands, making this one of the more interesting questlines added to Fisch so far.

If you’re planning to experience all of the new content, Petri’s quests are a great place to start.

Sand Fishing Is Finally Here

Probably the most unique mechanic in this update is Sand Fishing.

Instead of casting into water, you’ll now fish directly in the desert using a brand-new tool called the Sand Sifter.

This opens an entirely new collection of catches that can only be obtained in the Drylands.

Sand Fishing also allows players to discover ancient fossils buried beneath the dunes, giving collectors another category to complete.

If you’re aiming for 100% completion, this mechanic will become a major part of your progression.

Collect Ancient Fossils

While using the Sand Sifter, you’ll occasionally uncover prehistoric fossils instead of normal catches.

These fossils form an entirely new collection and tie directly into the Drylands storyline.

Some appear to be much rarer than others, so expect a bit of grinding if you’re hoping to complete the full fossil collection.

New Desert Weather Events

The Drylands features its own dynamic weather system, and paying attention to it can significantly improve your farming.

Dust Storms

Dust Storms are one of the most dangerous weather events in the new region.

While visibility becomes much lower, players receive:

  • Increased Luck
  • Exclusive catches
  • Special fishing opportunities

If you’re hunting rare Drylands species, these storms are worth taking advantage of.

Torrential Rain

Although the Drylands is mostly desert, rare Torrential Rain events temporarily flood the Claypans.

When this happens, different fish and collectibles become available that normally can’t be found.

Checking the weather before heading out can save a lot of time if you’re chasing specific entries for your bestiary.

Beware the Terrosunder

The Drylands isn’t completely safe.

A gigantic prehistoric creature known as the Terrosunder now tunnels beneath the desert.

While exploring, you’ll need to stay alert since getting too close can be dangerous.

According to the update notes, players may eventually discover a way to awaken its true form, suggesting there’s more to this creature than simply avoiding it.

Whether this becomes a boss encounter or another major event remains to be seen.

New Equipment Added

This update also introduces several new pieces of gear.

Marrow Rod

A brand-new fishing rod designed for the Drylands content.

Terrotrapper Rod

Another new rod focused on the latest desert mechanics.

Dune Enchantment

The new Dune Enchantment allows players to perform Sand Fishing with virtually any compatible fishing rod, making it much easier to continue using your favorite setup instead of switching gear constantly.

Terroscuttler Companion

Players can also unlock the Terroscuttler Companion, a new helper that joins your adventures throughout the Drylands.

Fourth of July Event

Alongside the Drylands expansion, Fisch has launched a limited-time Independence Day celebration.

During the event you’ll find:

  • A patriotic event bestiary
  • Patriot Shark Hunts
  • Exclusive seasonal catches
  • Event rewards from Liberty Larry at Fischfest

Since this is a limited-time event, it’s worth completing before it disappears.

Companion Balance Changes

Several companions have received buffs in this update.

Beak Bill

  • Improved overall performance
  • Increased rain-related Luck bonuses

Penguin Pal

  • Freezes enemies more often
  • Freeze duration has been increased

Silly Seal

  • Stronger bites
  • Faster bite speed
  • Can now consume more targets

If you already own these companions, they’ll perform noticeably better after the update.

Codes

Make sure to claim the latest free rewards.

DrylandsIsFire
HAPPY4TH

Redeem them as soon as possible since event codes often expire without much notice.

Quality of Life Changes

The developers have also included several smaller improvements.

These include:

  • Timers added to every Venue Takeover character
  • Various bug fixes
  • General gameplay improvements

The team also confirmed that future balance adjustments will begin appearing in public logs, making it easier for players to track buffs and nerfs.

The Drylands update is one of Fisch’s biggest expansions in recent months. Between Sand Fishing, fossils, a brand-new questline, dynamic desert weather, new rods, companions, and the mysterious Terrosunder, there’s plenty of fresh content to explore.

On top of that, the limited-time Fourth of July event adds even more rewards for players who log in during the celebration.

If you’re returning to Fisch after a break, this update offers more than enough reasons to jump back in and start exploring the Drylands.
