The Centipede Husk is one of the bosses you will have to deal with in End of Abyss, and the fight can become pretty dangerous if you rush into it without preparing. The boss has some powerful attacks, and the fight changes once you get it down to around half health.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through the Centipede Husk fight step by step, including what weapons to use, when to throw grenades, and which attacks you need to watch out for. The main idea is to stay patient during the first half and then switch your strategy once the boss starts vomiting.
Before entering the fight, there is one important thing I recommend doing: craft as many grenades as possible. You will get much more value from them during the second half of the battle, and having plenty means you don’t have to worry about wasting a few.
End of Abyss Centipede Husk Boss Fight Guide
Before heading into the boss arena, find the nearest Regeneration Room.
Go to the Workbench and craft as many grenades as your available resources allow.
I recommend taking as many as you can because you will want to use them during the second phase of the fight.
You don’t need to waste them during the opening section. Save them for when the boss changes its behavior.
Centipede Husk First Phase
For roughly the first half of the boss’s health bar, focus on using your pistol/primary weapon.
Don’t immediately start throwing grenades.
Instead, your main goal here is to stay patient, watch where the Centipede Husk appears, and dodge its attacks.
Watch for the Boss’s Slams
The Centipede Husk will move around the arena and eventually perform its large slam attacks.
This is one of your best opportunities to deal damage.
Whenever the boss goes into its slam animation, get ready to dodge out of the way.
Once it finishes the attack, you have an opening to fire your primary weapon.
You can also try to get a few shots in while the boss is moving past you, although this is much harder and isn’t something you need to force.
The safer strategy is simply to wait for the slam.
Don’t Get Greedy
The first phase is mostly about patience.
Keep moving around the arena and use your dodge roll whenever the Centipede Husk gets too close or starts an attack.
You don’t need to constantly attack.
Wait for a safe opportunity, get your shots in, and then focus on surviving until the next opening.
Continue doing this until the boss reaches around half health.
Centipede Husk Second Phase
Once the Centipede Husk gets close to half health, the fight changes.
The boss will start vomiting, and it will spend much more time inside the room with you.
This is where those grenades you crafted earlier become extremely useful.
Start Using Your Grenades
Now is the time to bring out your grenades.
Try to throw them so they land underneath the Centipede Husk.
The timing and positioning can be a little awkward, so don’t worry if you miss a few.
This is exactly why I recommend crafting as many grenades as possible before the fight.
When you manage to get a grenade underneath the boss and it explodes, you can stun it and create another opportunity to deal damage.
Keep Your Distance
While you’re throwing grenades, you still need to pay attention to the boss’s attacks.
The vomiting attack can punish you if you stand too close.
Keep some distance between yourself and the Centipede Husk, throw your grenade, and then be ready to dodge.
Don’t stand still after throwing one.
The boss can quickly follow up with a slam or stomp.
Dodge the Slams and Stomps
Even during the second phase, the Centipede Husk will continue using its heavy attacks.
Whenever you see it preparing to slam or stomp, immediately roll away.
The dodge roll is one of your most important tools during this fight.
If you do get clipped by an attack, don’t panic.
Back away from the boss, heal if necessary, and then get back into the fight once you’re in a safer position.
Use Grenades for Stuns
The main reason you want so many grenades is to repeatedly create openings.
Try to position the grenade underneath the boss and let it explode.
When it connects properly, the Centipede Husk will be stunned, giving you time to land additional shots with your primary weapon.
You can then continue attacking until the boss starts moving again.
Just don’t stand directly underneath it while waiting for the explosion.
Don’t Get Greedy Near the End
One of the easiest ways to throw away a good attempt is to get greedy when the Centipede Husk is almost dead.
It can be tempting to keep firing because you only need a few more hits.
But the boss can still punish you.
If you get too close or stay in front of it for too long, you can take the full force of a slam or another attack.
Instead, keep doing what worked throughout the fight.
Maintain your distance, dodge when necessary, use grenades for openings, and take your shots when they’re safe.
Simple Strategy for the Entire Fight
If you want the fight reduced to a simple routine, follow this:
First Half
- Use your pistol/primary weapon.
- Save your grenades.
- Watch where the boss appears.
- Dodge its attacks.
- Shoot during the slam openings.
- Don’t chase the boss for extra damage.
- Keep working patiently until it reaches half health.
Second Half
- Start using your grenades.
- Try to land them underneath the boss.
- Use grenade explosions to stun it.
- Keep your distance from the vomit attack.
- Dodge the slams and stomps.
- Heal if you get clipped.
- Continue firing whenever you have a safe opening.
- Don’t get greedy when its health is low.
The Centipede Husk fight is much easier when you split it into two parts instead of trying to use the same strategy from start to finish.
During the first half, I would keep things simple and rely on the primary weapon. The boss gives you good openings after its slam attacks, so there is no reason to waste grenades early.
Once it reaches around half health, that’s when you want to start spending those grenades. Try to get them underneath the boss to stun it, then use the opening to deal more damage before backing away again.
The biggest thing to remember is don’t get greedy. Even if the boss is almost dead, keep your distance and wait for the right opening. Staying patient and consistently dodging its attacks will make this fight much more manageable.
