Crafting is one of the most important systems in Dungeon Settlers because almost everything we need for progression eventually connects back to materials, processing, research, and workstations. From your first wooden equipment to powerful Arcron weapons and elemental staffs, knowing what materials to save can make progression much smoother.
In this post, I will go through the Dungeon Settlers crafting system, explain the important workstations, and list the recipes and materials you need for equipment, weapons, ammunition, food, consumables, and supplies. I will also explain which recipes require research and where some materials need to be processed before we can use them.
There are currently 161 crafting recipes in the database, so trying to memorize everything is not necessary. My recommendation is to understand the basic crafting chains first. Once you know how materials like Logs, Bone, Copper, Hard Shell, and Arcron are processed into better components, crafting the equipment you need becomes much easier.
Dungeon Settlers Crafting Guide – All Recipes, Materials
Crafting recipes require specific base ingredients and must usually be made at the correct workstation.
For example, some basic wooden equipment can be crafted at either a Basic Workstation or a Carpenter Workstation, while metal equipment requires the Casting Workbench.
Before crafting a new item, I always check three things:
- What materials the recipe requires
- Which workstation is needed
- Whether the recipe requires research
Some recipes also have alternative ways to obtain important materials. This is especially useful for elemental stones, where you may be able to convert one elemental stone into another or craft one directly from Essences and Mana Stone Powder.
Important Dungeon Settlers Workstations
The workstation you have access to determines what you can craft.
Basic Workstation
The Basic Workstation is important for early crafting.
You can use it to create several basic items, including:

Best Crafting Tips for Dungeon Settlers
Keep Processing Materials Before You Need Them
One of the easiest mistakes we can make is collecting raw materials but never processing them.
For example:
- Copper Ore becomes Copper Ingots.
- Silver Ore becomes Silver Ingots.
- Raw Hide becomes Leather.
- Logs become Wood Planks and Wood Sticks.
- Bone becomes Bone Sticks and Bone Meal.
- Crystal Ore becomes Refined Crystals.
I recommend processing important materials whenever you have spare resources instead of waiting until you suddenly need an item.
Pay Attention to Research Requirements
Some of the best recipes are locked behind research.
Before farming materials for a specific weapon or piece of equipment, check whether you have the required research.
Important examples include:
- Wood Processing
- Wood Processing II
- Bone Processing
- Bone Processing II
- Carapace Processing I
- Carapace Processing II
- Arcron Processing
- Textile Processing
- Staff Crafting
I always check research first because collecting materials for something I cannot craft yet is an easy way to waste time.
Save Mana Stone Powder
Mana Stone Powder is used in many important recipes.
It is required for:
- Elemental Stones
- Return Scrolls
- Goddess’s Tears
- Dark Serum
- Ash of Solace
- Improved Grass Porridge
- Basic Camping Kit
Because so many magical and utility recipes need it, I would avoid wasting all of your Mana Stone Powder without checking what you may need later.
Plan Your Crafting Chains
Some equipment requires processed materials rather than raw resources.
For example, a Copper Greatsword requires a Copper Rod, while the Copper Rod itself requires Copper Ingots.
The same thing happens with:
- Arcron Rods
- Bone Sticks
- Bloodwood Sticks
- Carapace Sticks
- Wood Sticks
Before you start crafting a weapon, make sure you have enough resources for every step in the chain.
Dungeon Settlers has a large crafting system with 161 recipes, but you do not need to memorize every single recipe to manage it efficiently.
I recommend learning the main material chains first.
Understand how raw resources become processed materials, learn which workstation handles each category, and always check research requirements before committing your resources.
For early progression, focus on the materials you use most often. As you unlock better workstations and research, you can start moving into Copper, Bone, Carapace, Bloodwood, elemental crafting, crystal equipment, and eventually Arcron gear.
The biggest thing I recommend is planning ahead. If you know what equipment or item you want next, start gathering and processing the required materials before you reach the point where you urgently need them. That makes crafting progression much smoother and saves us from repeatedly stopping our exploration just to farm one missing ingredient.
