Relics are where character builds in ALLfiring start getting really interesting. Early on, most players are just equipping random pieces for stats, but once you begin understanding relic sets, substats, and Elemental Resonance, your damage can jump massively without even changing characters.

The problem is that the game barely explains how any of this works properly. A lot of players end up wasting stamina farming relics too early, upgrading bad pieces, or completely ignoring one of the strongest stats currently in the game.

If you want smoother progression and stronger builds later, understanding relics properly is honestly a huge deal.

One of the biggest beginner mistakes in ALLfiring is farming relics too early.

Seriously, do not hard-focus relic farming before Level 40.

Level 40 Matters

At Level 40, the game unlocks:

That is when relic farming actually becomes worth your stamina.

Before that point, most relics get replaced quickly anyway, so spending thousands of stamina trying to perfect early purple gear usually slows your account down instead of helping it.

You can absolutely clear story content without:

  • Full optimized sets

So early progression should focus more on:

instead of endlessly farming weak relics.

Sets

There are currently six main relic sets available.

Elemental Sets

Five sets are tied directly to elemental damage:

  • Wind

  • Ice
  • Thunder
  • Dark

These are usually the best options for most DPS characters because they directly scale elemental damage output.

Most characters simply want the set matching their own element.

Assault Set

The sixth relic set is more general and focuses on:

  • Attack percentage
  • Assault-style scaling

This set can work very well early when your elemental sets are incomplete.

Honestly, it is a pretty solid filler option until your final builds start coming together.

Bonuses

Every relic set has:

  • A 2-piece effect
  • A 5-piece effect

The 2-piece bonuses are easier to activate early and can still provide nice value while your account is developing.

The real power spike usually comes from the full 5-piece effect later on.

Gold Relics

Gold relics completely change the gearing system.

Compared to lower rarity pieces, gold relics:

  • Upgrade higher
  • Roll more substats
  • Have stronger scaling
  • Allow more flexible builds

This is why experienced players recommend saving stamina until Level 40 instead of wasting resources earlier.

Upgrading

Gold relics can upgrade all the way to:

  • +20

Once upgraded, they gain multiple stat rolls and become significantly stronger than lower rarity gear.

This is where the endgame relic grind really begins.

Substats

Substats are honestly what separate average relics from amazing ones.

Lower rarity relics have limited substats, but gold relics open up much more build flexibility.

Maximum Substats

Gold relics can potentially gain:

  • Up to six substats

However, there is an important mechanic many players miss.

If a relic upgrades an already existing stat multiple times, it reduces the number of unique substats available.

For example:

  • A relic repeatedly rolling Wind Damage
  • Or repeatedly upgrading Crit Rate

will strengthen that stat but lower overall stat variety.

That means:

  • Fewer stats
  • Bigger upgrades

can still create an extremely strong relic.

Main Stats

Every relic slot has different possible main stats.

Understanding which slots can roll which stats is very important once you start optimizing builds.

Slot One

  • Defense

Slot Two

Possible main stats:

  • Flat Attack
  • HP%

Slot Three

This is one of the most flexible relic slots.

Possible stats include:

  • Attack%
  • HP%
  • Defense%
  • Flat Attack
  • Healing
  • Ultimate Charge
  • Elemental Resonance

This slot becomes extremely important later for advanced builds.

Slot Four

Possible stats:

  • Attack%
  • Healing
  • Elemental Damage
  • Elemental Resonance

Slot Five

Possible stats:

  • HP%
  • Defense%
  • Crit Rate
  • Crit Damage
  • Ultimate Charge
  • Elemental Resonance

For most DPS characters, this slot is usually one of the highest impact offensive pieces.

Elemental Resonance

Elemental Resonance is currently one of the strongest stats in the game, but many players still do not realize how powerful it actually is.

The game barely explains it properly, which causes a lot of confusion.

How Resonance Works

From current testing and server information, Elemental Resonance acts as a damage multiplier.

A rough example:

  • Around 60 Elemental Resonance equals about a 10% damage increase

That is incredibly strong for a single stat.

Diminishing Returns

However, Elemental Resonance does have diminishing returns.

That means:

  • Early amounts are very efficient
  • Higher amounts become less valuable over time

Because of this, many optimized builds aim for around:

  • 400 Elemental Resonance

on their main DPS characters.

That currently seems to be the sweet spot before scaling slows down too heavily.

Why Resonance Is Valuable

The reason Elemental Resonance becomes so strong later is because gold relics allow so many additional substats.

That flexibility lets players stack:

  • Crit Rate
  • Crit Damage
  • Elemental Damage
  • Resonance
  • Offensive scaling

all at the same time.

Once your build starts coming together properly, the damage increase becomes very noticeable.

Rerolling

Thankfully, the reroll system in ALLfiring is not nearly as painful as many other gacha RPGs.

You can reroll unwanted stats multiple times, and eventually:

  • Select desired stats
  • Target specific upgrades
  • Fix bad relic rolls

That makes the endgame grind much less frustrating than players initially expect.

Early Priorities

If you are still progressing through the game, your relic priorities should honestly stay pretty simple.

Focus on:

Do not obsess over perfect relics too early because the stamina costs become brutal very quickly.

Reach Level 40 first, unlock gold relics, build your core sets, and then slowly optimize substats afterward.

And most importantly, do not sleep on Elemental Resonance. Once players start properly building around it, it quickly becomes obvious why it is considered one of the strongest offensive stats in the current version of the game.
