Make Ancient Spires Your First Priority As soon as you enter a new area in Enshrouded, your first task should be locating and activating the Ancient Spire. It’s more than just a fast travel point; these high vantage points give you excellent gliding opportunities to explore the surroundings efficiently. After activating a spire and conversing with the flame at its peak, you’ll gain visibility of nearby Ancient Obelisks and Elixir Wells on your map. This means you can systematically discover new areas: Ancient Spires: Provide fast travel and reveal regional discoveries. Ancient Obelisks: Lead to Shroud Roots and Flame Shrines. Flame Shrines: Reward Sparks to enhance your Flame. Make it a habit to check adjacent maps after leaving the spire. Often, you’ll find that many tasks can be accomplished in a single trip.
When you arrive in a new area, finding and activating the Ancient Spire is one of your priorities. Firstly, Ancient Spires are fast traveling points but there is more than just a convenient navigation tool. Their high position makes great start points to glide towards different places.
There is another perk. After you activate a spire and talk to the flame at its peak, the map will show Ancient Obelisks and Elixir Wells.
Reading Ancient Obelisk will open Shroud Roots and Flame Shrines. So you get yourself a good system of discovering the new land:
- Ancient Spires: Fast traveling and getting region-specific discoveries.
- Ancient Obelisks: Discover Shroud Roots and Flame Shrines.
- Flame Shrines: Get Sparks for your Flame.
Finding such system early will help you to explore this land more effectively, setting your priorities to specific objectives. Before leaving the Spire, check the map nearby and see what places are worth your attention. Sometimes, you will see that many tasks can be performed during a single trip.
Collect Every Available Exploration Skill Point Improving your character isn’t just about leveling up; you can also gain valuable skill points from exploration tasks. Each character level nets you two skill points, but don’t underestimate the value of destroying Shroud Roots or completing Elixir Wells. Here’s the breakdown: Activity Skill Points Rewarded Character level-up 2 Destroying a Shroud Root 1 Completing an Elixir Well 3 Keep in mind that each of these can only be completed once per character, so make them count! Shroud Roots require an axe to smash, while Elixir Wells are tougher spots to clear — prepare accordingly with repaired gear and enough healing items.
Levelling up isn’t the only way to improve your character. The most useful skills points are acquired through accomplishing exploration objectives.
Every time you level up, you get two skills points. On the other hand, destruction of a Shroud Root grants you one extra skill point, while completion of Elixir Well gets you three.
| Activity | Skill points rewarded |
|---|---|
| Character level-up | 2 |
| Destroying a Shroud Root | 1 |
| Completing an Elixir Well | 3 |
Shroud Roots and Elixir Wells will give you skill points only once for each character. You won’t be able to go through this area again and gain extra points.
They will be especially useful when your skill tree seems to need some improvements. Before starting grinding on enemies for experience, see if you haven’t missed any of these places.
Shroud Roots can be broken down only by an axe, while Elixir Wells are tougher places. So, be sure that your gear is fixed and you have enough healing to survive in there.
But you should remember that there is the difference between exploring and gaining renewable resources. Some locations in unsafe zones may reset with all monsters, chests, and resources inside, so you will have a chance to visit them again. However, the skill point reward will not be repeated.
Complete Survivor Quests for Crafting Unlocks Helping survivors is just the first step. Rescued individuals like the Blacksmith, Hunter, and Alchemist unlock new crafting stations and recipes through follow-up quests. This becomes essential in mid-game when you need to upgrade your gear to stay competitive. Don’t be surprised if you have the materials for an upgrade but still can’t craft it — you might be missing a required recipe or crafting station unlocked through a survivor’s quest. Keep an eye on your survivors’ available missions when you return to base. While you don’t need to tackle all the quests right away, holding off on them may hinder your crafting capabilities down the road. Blacksmith: Focus on melee weapons. Hunter: Specializes in ranged equipment. Alchemist: Crafts magical gear and consumables.
Rescuing a survivor is only the beginning of their progression chain. The Blacksmith, Hunter, Alchemist, and other rescued craftspeople unlock additional crafting stations, equipment recipes, tools, and workshop improvements through their follow-up quests. This becomes particularly important during the mid-game, when your current equipment starts becoming less effective and you’re preparing to move into the next tier.
Strengthen Your Flame to Unlock Higher Tiers
Your Flame is crucial for progression in Enshrouded, as its strength determines your capacity to explore new areas. Always keep an eye on what materials are needed for your next upgrade, and gather them during your expeditions instead of waiting until you think you’re ready.
Furthermore, in version 1.0, upgrading your Flame will automatically unlock crafting recipes for the next tier of equipment. Previously, you often had to hunt for specific materials to unlock recipes. Now, ensure you’ve upgraded your Flame before searching for gear — that will save you significant time.
Be aware that Flame upgrades differ from Flame Altar advancements; they are not the same system.
Pay particular attention to the equipment specialists:
- Blacksmith: Melee weapons and related equipment.
- Hunter: Ranged equipment and associated crafting.
- Alchemist: Magic equipment, consumables, and other magical crafting options.
Check your survivors’ available quests whenever you return to base. You don’t need to complete everything immediately, but allowing their progression chains to pile up can create unnecessary roadblocks when you eventually need a specific crafting unlock.
Strengthen Your Flame to Unlock Higher Tiers

Your Flame is among the most crucial progression systems in Enshrouded and improving it allows you to explore new areas and advance deeper into the Shroud. Make sure to be aware of what requirements will need to be met for the next Flame upgrade. Instead of waiting till you’re ready to upgrade it and only then start gathering needed materials, just do it during your usual exploration.
0 progression system you need to know. Recipes for equipment crafting in the next tier will be automatically unlocked after strengthening your Flame.
Previously, some armor sets required finding specific materials first before unlocking recipes for them. 0 progression system, you don’t have to worry about this anymore since it will all be done by upgrading your Flame.
Hence, if your next armor set is not showing up in the crafting section, check the progress of your Flame first before wasting hours trying to find some missing material.
Note that Flame and Flame Altar progression levels are different systems. Improving the latter does not mean advancing the former.
Use Resource Acquisition Hints A common pitfall in Enshrouded is gathering resources without knowing their origins. Thanks to QoL improvements, you can access acquisition hints that detail where to find specific resources for crafting. This allows for more focused expeditions instead of aimlessly collecting materials. For instance, if you need regional plants for an upgrade, check the crafting section to see where they spawn before you head out. This method will save you time and energy while ensuring you accomplish multiple objectives during your gathered outings.
Perhaps one of the simplest forms of wasting time when playing Enshrouded is harvesting resources without understanding their origin. 0 craft tab makes this much easier by offering acquisition clues for many resources.
Viewing the details of the missing resources and checking its acquisition will allow the game to tell you where you need to be looking, which allows you to find the correct resource rather than harvesting random resources and hoping that you get the one that you need. Using this in combination with your recipe list will allow you to create focused gathering expeditions.
Turn Special Shroud Sites Into Loot Opportunities
When traversing higher-level areas or the Shroud, keep an eye out for peculiar blue spots that indicate elite monster encounters. Activating these spots requires specific resources and can lead to lucrative loot drops. While not every encounter guarantees legendary gear, the potential rewards make these encounters worth pursuing.
From testing, a 50% drop rate for legendary pieces has been seen. Not only can you score better gear, but elite enemies also drop powerful runes and other beneficial items. Even if these fights are tougher, they provide excellent chances to strengthen your character during exploration.
Turn Special Shroud Sites Into Loot Opportunities
While discovering these higher level areas, and especially the places located inside the Shroud, pay attention to any peculiar blue spots or activation spots. Such spots may be activated with the required particle resources.
As a result of the activation, there appears an elite monster, which is an excellent source of additional loot. Such encounters should receive particular attention due to the quality of possible rewards.
Out of ten such encounters five gave legendary pieces of equipment. Moreover, there were frequent drops of legendary runes along with other pieces of equipment, which could have been rare or even better.
The data is taken from several tests, but still you should not expect that each of these encounters will give you a legendary reward. Nevertheless, this kind of rewards makes them worth considering.
There are at least two benefits from their incorporation into the process of exploration. First of all, you get additional chances to acquire equipment.
Secondly, there are quite useful runes dropped by these elite monsters. These elite enemies can be more difficult to fight than usual, but still while discovering a new region and trying to increase the power of your character, these spots can be very helpful.
Use Temporary Flame Altars as Outposts Flame Altars serve dual purposes, helping set up camps and acting as temporary waypoints for long journeys. When planning to explore distant regions, carry materials to create another Flame Altar, allowing for quick fast travel locations throughout your adventures. Make these strategic placements where they’ll optimize your gameplay; no need to set them up everywhere. Focus on spots that will facilitate completing specific tasks, then dismantle them afterward to save materials for future expeditions. The synergy between your base, Ancient Spires, and temporary Flame Altars can streamline your adventures significantly.
Not only do Flame Altars help set up bases but they can also act as temporary outposts which make exploring far-away locations much easier. If you are planning on undertaking a long journey, try taking the materials necessary for setting up yet another Flame Altar. As long as you have some slots left, you will be able to set up an outpost near some mine, settlement, location of a quest or hard encounter.
This way you will be able to use an easy-to-use fast travel point and save time by not having to constantly travel back and forth from your base to the location being explored. The key is to be strategic with these temporary Altars.
There is no need to always set up a settlement whenever you explore a new location. Just set up an Altar where it would help to accomplish a certain goal.
When you are done, destroy the Altar and use the slot for something else. The right combination includes your base, Ancient Spires as permanent points of traveling around regions, and Flame Altars as temporary ones.
Extend Your Time Inside the Shroud Shroud timers can turn successful outings into frantic races against the clock, especially in complex areas like Elixir Wells. Hourglass Capsules offer significant boosts, with the latest version yielding around a 70% time increase on your Shroud timer compared to earlier versions. These capsules are commonly found and can even drop from larger enemies, so always prioritize picking them up for those deeper explorations. Just remember, while more time is useful, don’t neglect heading to your exit when your exploration wraps up.
Shroud timers are capable of transforming even the most successful adventure into a rushed one, just trying to get out of it alive. It’s particularly irritating when you explore Elixir Well or any large shrouded location and realize the timer is about to expire before you complete your task.
0. Now they’re spawning in many locations and their time bonus is substantially increased comparing to previous versions.
Each capsule gives you around 70% more Shroud time than before. Moreover, larger Fell enemies are now able to drop it, so you can receive an extra time for completing your adventure even during the tough fight.
Always try to pick these up each time you see them, especially in case you plan to explore a deep Shroud location. They are quite useful when you have an objective that requires exploration or completing several encounters in row.
But don’t think you can safely ignore your path to exit just because you got more time.
Invest Runes in Equipment You’ll Actually Use In Enshrouded, you’ll come across an array of equipment options, but investing resources across the board may not be wise. Focus on gear that compliments your playstyle. If you favor melee combat, commit to gear that enhances close-range combat. Alternatively, rangers should emphasize equipment tied to the Hunter specialization, while mages benefit from Alchemist gear. It’s tempting to upgrade weapons you’ll soon replace, but think twice before pouring resources into temporary gear. You’ll only recover 50% of the runes spent on upgrades when salvaging, so consider how frequently you change equipment. Save runes for pieces you intend to keep for a while, especially when facing challenging encounters or progressing into new zones.
Enshrouded provides a variety of equipment, but allocating your resources to all types of weaponry and armor sets may not be an effective strategy. It is recommended that you concentrate on those equipment that suit your combat style. Those who prefer melee attacks should allocate their resources to Blacksmith equipment and traits which will enhance their close-combat abilities.
Manage Stamina With Food, Tea, and Comfort
Stamina management is vital, impacting everything from running and climbing to combat and crafting activities. Understand your food buffs, utilize the Rested bonus, and watch for environmental penalties.
Make the most of the Rested bonus, which increases your maximum stamina and regeneration rate. This buff’s duration ties to your Comfort skill level. Look for pre-furnished houses to set up a resting place rather than having to build from scratch.
As for consumables, consider stocking Rooibos Tea and Herbal Mountain Tea for their boosting effects on stamina and mana. These drinks are easier to craft compared to more complex alternatives lacking in benefit.
| Consumable | Main Benefits | Required Resources |
|---|---|---|
| Rooibos Tea | Maximum stamina and stamina regeneration | Water and Rooibos |
| Herbal Mountain Tea | Mana, stamina, and stamina regeneration | Water and Gentian |
While you can gather Rooibos from the Nomad Highlands, Gentian can be found in abundance west of the Ancient Spire in the Albaneve Summits. Both plants are great candidates for cultivation back at base.
Be wary of environmental factors like the Wet debuff, which can severely hinder your stamina. Keep a torch handy to quickly dispel this penalty after getting wet.
Don’t waste runes on temporary equipment
One of the most common things that players do is upgrade their weapons over and over again until they replace them shortly after. In worlds with default settings, you can salvage only 50 percent of the runes used for upgrading any piece of equipment you found.
It means that there is always some portion of loss in terms of runes you invested in the upgrade. 0 as you have higher chances to find some valuable equipment in the chest in the early region.
You will find a weapon which may look better than your old one, start investing lots of runes into it and soon replace it with something much better after the next journey.
Think about how long are you going to use the particular piece of equipment before making a decision to upgrade it. Upgrade equipment when you need some extra power to pass some hard encounter or advance into a new region.
Build around your preferred combat style
Battle Mage is especially flexible since you can have different elements of damage on your wands. Some monsters may be resistant to certain types of attack or elements.
It will give you a lot of possibilities to choose from when you face some unknown monsters in the game. It is the same for all other builds.
Pay attention to skills and attributes which suit your playing style.
Manage Stamina With Food, Tea, and Comfort

Stamina affects practically everything you do in Enshrouded. Running, climbing, gliding, fighting, and mining all place demands on your stamina pool.
When it runs low, even ordinary exploration becomes frustrating. There are three areas worth managing: your food buffs, your Rested bonus, and environmental effects.
Make the most of your Rested bonus
The Rested buff increases your maximum stamina and stamina regeneration. The duration of this buff depends on your Comfort skill level. With each extra Comfort level, you gain one more minute for the duration of the buff.
You don’t have to build a huge mansion to take advantage of it. If you find a ready-made furnished house, then you can acquire it with the help of the Flame Altar and use all the furniture found there. This is an easy way to create your comfortable place for resting.
Use tea instead of relying exclusively on other consumables
Two particularly useful drinks are Rooibos Tea and Herbal Mountain Tea. Both are relatively accessible to craft compared with some of the more complicated consumables.
| Consumable | Main benefits | Required resources |
|---|---|---|
| Rooibos Tea | Maximum stamina and stamina regeneration | Water and Rooibos |
| Herbal Mountain Tea | Mana, stamina, and stamina regeneration | Water and Gentian |
Rooibos Tea is another choice that becomes available at about level 16 if you have completed the respective quest and unlocked it through the Almanac. This is very useful because the ingredients are not hard to get.
No need to collect several rare ingredients just to keep your stamina boost. Herbal Mountain Tea becomes available once you get to the Summits.
It is very useful for those characters that would like to have both mana and stamina boosts. Now compare the above drinks to the Spiced Tea that gives frost resistance along with the others but needs more ingredients to prepare, including Saffron and Spice.
Unless you need frost resistance, it is better to choose the other alternatives.
Where to collect Rooibos
Visit the Ancient Spire within the Nomad Highlands and proceed to the nearest gather point. Spot the unique orange-green vegetation scattered around the environment.
They will be your source of Rooibos to make the tea. Rather than consuming the entire vegetation right away, you can gather it and plant it at your base garden.
By doing so, you will not have to go back to the gather point each time you run out of it.
Where to collect Gentian
Once you have found your way to the Ancient Spire in the Albaneve Summits, move in a westward direction until you reach the village. Your next location will be the courtyard of the upper part of the village.
The courtyard is expected to have an abundant amount of Gentian plants. You are capable of collecting about 15 Gentian plants per collection from the area.
Like Rooibos, it is recommended that you take them back home and grow them.
Watch out for the Wet debuff
One easily overlooked stamina penalty comes from getting wet. Swimming or being caught in the rain applies the Wet debuff, which reduces stamina and stamina regeneration by 30%.
This penalty is rather serious and will definitely make life difficult if you need to climb, attack, or glide through a big area. Warmth will increase the duration of the Wet debuff.
To avoid it, one of the simplest methods would be to have a torch equipped when you want to get rid of it. This will give you an opportunity to get rid of it quickly and not suffer from low stamina during your travel.
If you experience reduced stamina after swimming, check your buffs and debuffs first.
Find the Legendary Glider The glider is crucial for traversing the vast expanses of Enshrouded, and acquiring the Legendary Glider enhances your mobility significantly. You don’t need to complete quests to obtain it; just head to the right location. To maximize your gliding efficiency, unlock skills in the movement tree such as Updraft and Airborne, which reduce stamina usage and help maintain altitude during gliding.
Legendary Glider location: Sun Temple
Your quest starts at the Ancient Spire in the Kindlewastes. Head south toward the Sun Temple, where you’ll find a locked entrance that requires activating three switches. These switches are located around the entrance; range weapons work great for activating them.
Inside the temple, be cautious of traps; look for switches behind a desk, beside a brazier, and a wall requiring ranged attacks. Once you’ve navigated the traps, proceed upwards.
Your goal is to reach the upper path, where you’ll find a chest containing the Legendary Glider. Coupled with your glider skills, it will dramatically enhance your travel efficiency and allow you to soar for impressive distances.
Be mindful of traps in the room; activating the switches also initiates these traps. Look for trigger points that will make traversing this area easier.
Fire resistance items can help mitigate damage during your journey. Climb upwards following the path until you reach the top, keeping your eye out for any lurking threats.
You’ll be rewarded with the Legendary Glider in a chest along the way.
Two helpful skills to unlock before traveling through the world are in the movement skill tree. Updraft helps give you a lift when using the glider in the air.
Activating the glider with the Spacebar allows for an elevation bonus, which makes traversing the environment easier. Airborne reduces stamina consumption by 36% when gliding.
Stamina is the key factor which limits the duration of gliding and thus is greatly improved when reduced. With these abilities, you will be able to travel very far distances and not have to worry about your stamina constantly.
Legendary Glider location: Sun Temple
First, start your journey to Ancient Spire located in the Kindlewastes. After that, go straight south towards the Sun Temple.
Once there, find the structure whose entrance is locked behind three switches. These switches will be located around the entrance itself.
To activate them, you may use ranged weapons like a wand or a staff if needed. All three switches must be activated for the entrance to open.
There will be mobs in there, but you don’t have to kill all of them. If you are not the right level, just run past some mobs and take what you need and move towards the upper areas.
Navigating the trap room
Inside the temple, you’ll encounter a room with several mechanisms that activate traps.
Look for the switches in the following locations:
- Behind a small desk.
- Beside the brazier towards the right-hand side of the room.
- Behind a wall, where you’ll need a ranged attack to hit the mechanism. An arrow, Fireball, or Ice Bolt can help activate it.
- Above the entrance door at the front of the room.
Activating these mechanisms triggers the associated traps, so be careful when moving through the area. Fire resistance can also make the encounter more manageable. Once you’ve dealt with the mechanisms, continue towards the stairs and make your way upwards.
Reaching the Legendary Glider chest
Follow the upper path until you get to the stairs located at the top part of the building. You will finally get to a corner and you will see other stairs going higher.
Remember that you may encounter some dragons along the way. Keep on climbing until you reach the upper part of the path.
You do not have to go to the highest point. There is a chest in the upper path with a guaranteed Legendary Glider inside.
Together with Updraft and Airborne, this glider will make your travels much easier and even allow you to travel up to 1,000 meters.
