Crimson Moon Gear Purification Guide – Find New Equipment

Gear Purification is an important part of progression in Crimson Moon. When you find new equipment during a run, you cannot immediately keep that exact item as part of your permanent collection. You first need to return to the hub and Purify it.

Once an item has been purified, it is permanently added to your Armory. From there, you can spend Gold to upgrade its quality and eventually use it as part of your starting loadout in future runs.

Crimson Moon Gear Purification Guide – Find New Equipment

The purification system is fairly straightforward once you understand the basic progression. You discover equipment during a run, bring it back to the hub, purify it, and then upgrade it through the Armory.

Here is how the entire process works.

1. Begin a New Run

When you start a New Run, you begin with the default Crimson Oath loadout and Common Tier equipment.

For this example, we can use the Gauntlets to see how the purification process works from beginning to end.

At this point, the equipment you start with is already available to use, but you can discover different equipment as you progress through the run.

2. Find New Equipment During a Run

As you play through a run, you can discover equipment belonging to different sets and Tiers.

The Tier of equipment you can find depends on the difficulty of the Run. Higher difficulties provide opportunities to find equipment with higher Tiers.

For example, you might discover a set of Uncommon Telvaught Gauntlets during a run.

There is an icon in the top-left corner of the item that shows the equipment has not yet been Purified. This means the item has not been permanently added to your Armory yet.

3. Return and Purify the Equipment

After finishing the run and returning to the hub, the equipment you collected during that run is Purified.

This is the important step because Purification permanently adds the discovered equipment to your collection.

So, even though you may have found the equipment as part of a particular run, it becomes a permanent unlock once the purification process is completed.

4. Add the Equipment to Your Armory

After the item has been Purified, a Common Tier version of that equipment will appear in your Armory.

You can then keep that equipment and use it during future runs.

This is where the system starts becoming useful for long-term progression. Finding a new piece of gear during a run can eventually give you a permanent option for your future starting loadout.

5. Upgrade the Equipment

Once an equipment piece has been added to the Armory, you can use Gold to permanently upgrade its quality.

Your Character Level determines how far you can upgrade equipment. The currently listed upgrade milestones are:

  • Level 2 — Uncommon
  • Level 4 — Rare
  • Level 12 — Epic

This means you cannot immediately upgrade every piece to the highest Tier. You need to continue leveling your character to unlock the higher-quality upgrades.

6. Use Upgraded Equipment in Future Runs

After upgrading an item in your Armory, you can select it as part of your starting loadout for future runs.

There is also an important benefit to upgrading your equipment permanently. Once an item has been upgraded, any future version of that item that you find during a run will always be Uncommon Tier or better.

So, upgrading gear doesn’t just improve the version stored in your Armory. It also establishes a higher minimum Tier for future drops of that equipment.

Equipment Tiers in Crimson Moon

Equipment can appear at different Tiers throughout Crimson Moon. The difficulty of a Run affects the opportunity to discover higher-Tier loot.

The permanent upgrades you make through the Armory also matter because they determine the minimum Tier at which that equipment can appear in future runs.

This creates a progression loop where you can:

  1. Start a run with your current equipment.
  2. Discover new gear.
  3. Return to the hub.
  4. Purify the equipment.
  5. Add it to your Armory.
  6. Spend Gold to upgrade it.
  7. Use the upgraded equipment in future runs.
  8. Find better versions of that equipment as you continue playing.

Gear Purification and Long-Term Progression

I would treat Purification as an important part of your long-term progression rather than something you only do occasionally. A piece of equipment you discover during a run can eventually become a permanent part of your available loadouts.

The system also gives you a reason to keep playing at higher difficulties. Since higher difficulties can provide opportunities for higher-Tier equipment, you can continue improving the gear available to you as your character progresses.

At the same time, your Character Level controls the permanent upgrade milestones, with Uncommon at Level 2, Rare at Level 4, and Epic at Level 12.

Gear Purification in Crimson Moon is essentially the bridge between equipment you find during a run and equipment you can permanently use in your future runs.

The basic process is simple: find the gear, return to the hub, Purify it, add it to the Armory, and upgrade it with Gold.

As you level up and unlock higher equipment Tiers, your Armory becomes more useful, while upgraded equipment also sets a higher minimum Tier for future versions you discover during runs.
