Fishing in Doloc Town looks pretty simple when you first get your hands on a rod. Cast it into the water, wait for something to bite, and pull it out. But once you start trying to catch specific fish, things get a lot more interesting.
Some fish only appear in certain weather, others are tied to particular areas or times of day, and a few don’t even become available until you’ve progressed far enough to activate a terraforming function. There are also some unusual one-time items hiding in the fishing pools that are very easy to miss if you’re only fishing for money.
So, if you’re trying to complete the fish collection or just want to know where and when to catch a particular fish, this guide has everything in one place.
The good news is that fishing isn’t as equipment-heavy as you might expect. The Bamboo Fishing Rod can catch every fish currently listed in the game. The Fiberglass and Carbon Fiber rods make the minigame easier and faster, but you don’t need them just to complete your collection.
And no, you don’t need to worry about bait. No fish currently requires bait. Your location, rod level, weather, month, and time are what determine what’s available.
Doloc Town Fishing Guide – Locations, Weather, Months, Rods
Fishing pools don’t simply give every fish in that location an equal chance.
When you cast your line, the game first determines whether you’ve hooked trash. If you get past that check, the game filters the possible catches based on things such as:
- Your fishing rod level
- Whether you’ve unlocked the required progression
- The current month
- Current weather
- Time of day
- The specific fishing pool you’re using
After that, the game chooses a catch tier using the pool’s weights and then selects from the eligible catches in that tier.
This is why you won’t see a single fixed percentage for every fish. A fish’s practical chance can change depending on which other catches are currently available.
For example, if a one-time CD or note is still in the pool, it can affect the roll. Once you catch that item, it disappears from future rolls, changing the available pool.
One Important Weather Rule
There are two regional exceptions worth remembering:
Wetland waters always use Heavy Rain fishing conditions.
Old City waters always use Harsh Dry fishing conditions.
That means some fish that normally require a particular weather condition can effectively be available throughout the calendar when you’re fishing in those regions.
Fishing Pool Locations and Weights
The numbers under Tier Weights are relative weights, not direct percentages. Empty tiers are removed before the game makes its final roll.
| Fishing Pool | Where to Find It |
|---|---|
| Freshwater | East Pond, Mountain Pond, Ridge Valley hidden cliff pool, Doloc Rivervalley pools |
| Secluded Forest Freshwater | Deep Forest pond |
| Coastal Water | Central seawater pool at Doloc Dock |
| Wharf and Bridge Coast | Left and right bridge pools at Doloc Dock |
| Shallows | Doloc Rivervalley outpost, Small Forest, mountain foothills |
| Polluted Water | Garbage Mountain polluted pool in Doloc Rivervalley |
| Wetland Coast | Wetland coast, peatland, flooded grassland, Wetland Farm |
| Wetland Freshwater | Freshwater pools throughout the Wetland marsh |
| Wetland Aquafarm | Wetland Aquafarm |
| Wetland Cave | Wetland open cave lake |
| Wetland Wastewater | Wetland pollution zones and right cave |
| Wetland Lotus Pool | Wetland lotus pool |
| Wetland Hidden Pool | Wetland hidden cave pool |
| Old City Coast | Old City coast |
| Old City Deep Water | Old City deep water |
| Old City Hidden Pool | Old City hidden pool |
| Old City Sewer | Old City sewers |
| Old City Residential Water | Old City residential water |
| Old City Shallows | Old City shallows |
Trash can include things such as Canned Food, Drone Wreckage, Gel, Old Electric Wire, Old Tire, Plastic Bottle, and Rubbish.
If you’re fishing somewhere with a high trash chance, don’t assume you’re doing something wrong when you keep pulling junk out. That’s simply how that pool is configured.
Fishing Rods in Doloc Town
Before getting into the fish themselves, let’s talk rods.
There are five rods currently listed, but you don’t need to buy the most expensive one to complete the fish collection.
The Bamboo Fishing Rod is the important breakpoint because no currently listed fish requires a rod above Level 2.
| Rod | Level | How to Get It | Price | Bonus Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Fishing Rod | 0 | Fisherman’s Shop | 350 | 1x |
| Old Fishing Rod | 1 | Lightman’s fishing tutorial or Fisherman’s Shop | 100 | 1x |
| Bamboo Fishing Rod | 2 | Fisherman’s Shop | 1,000 | 1x |
| Fiberglass Fishing Rod | 3 | Kon-Tiki Trading Station | 3,000 | 1x |
| Carbon Fiber Fishing Rod | 4 | Kon-Tiki Trading Station | 6,000 | 2x |
Basic Fishing Rod
This is the Level 0 rod and can be purchased from the Fisherman’s Shop for 350.
It’s enough to catch quite a few fish, including several of the higher-tier species that don’t require a stronger rod.
Old Fishing Rod
You’ll receive this from Lightman’s fishing tutorial, although you can also buy it from the Fisherman’s Shop for 100.
It is a Level 1 rod and opens up several additional fish.
Bamboo Fishing Rod
This is the rod I’d recommend aiming for if you’re serious about completing the fishing collection.
It costs 1,000 and is Level 2.
More importantly, every fish in the current list can be caught with this rod or a lower-level rod. So you don’t have to spend 3,000 or 6,000 just to unlock the final fish.
Fiberglass Fishing Rod
The Fiberglass rod comes from the Kon-Tiki Trading Station and costs 3,000.
Its improved catch speed and starting progress make the fishing minigame more comfortable, but it’s not a collection requirement.
Carbon Fiber Fishing Rod
The top rod currently listed costs 6,000.
It has a 20 catch speed, 35% starting progress, and a 2x bonus score, making it the best rod for players who want to make fishing more efficient rather than simply complete the fish list.

Fish Worth Hunting Down
Not every fish is equally difficult, and a few are particularly worth remembering.
Golden Fish
The Golden Fish sells for 1,000, which is a huge jump compared with common catches.
The catch is that it only appears in the Deep Forest pond. Fortunately, it doesn’t have a complicated weather or time requirement.
You’ll need at least the Old Fishing Rod.
Sturgeon
The Sturgeon is another valuable catch, selling for a base price of 1,500.
You’ll need the Water Purification Core activated, and it appears in freshwater pools and the Deep Forest pond during Light Rain or Early Dry.
It’s also a Tier 5 catch, so don’t expect to pull one out every few casts.
Dumbo Octopus
The Dumbo Octopus is one of the most valuable catches in the list, also selling for 1,500.
You’ll need the Core Sample progression, and it requires Heavy Rain at the relevant Dock locations. Remember that Wetland waters effectively use Heavy Rain conditions, making the regional rule particularly useful here.
Mahi-mahi
Mahi-mahi is another 1,500-value fish.
It requires the Bamboo Fishing Rod, the Core Sample, and Harsh Dry weather at the Doloc Dock pools.
Salmon
Salmon is a special seasonal catch.
It appears during the Salmon Festival, specifically on Light Rain 25–27, and disappears again on the 28th.
It can be found in the freshwater pools, Deep Forest pond, and Doloc Dock central and bridge pools.
So if you’re trying to complete the collection, don’t casually skip those festival days.
Progression Unlocks for Special Fish
There are three important progression events that change what can appear in the fishing pools.
Water Purification Core
Activating the Water Purification Core terraforming function adds:
- Koi
- Rainbow Trout
- Wolf Fish
- Sturgeon
These fish won’t simply appear because you’ve reached the right location. You need the corresponding progression unlock first.
Core Sample
The Core Sample terraforming function adds:
- Tuna
- Eel
- Glow Eel
- Dumbo Octopus
- Mahi-mahi
This is the other major fishing progression milestone.
Salmon Festival
The Salmon Festival is a temporary event.
During Light Rain 25–27, Salmon becomes available in the relevant freshwater and Doloc Dock pools. Once the calendar reaches the 28th, Salmon leaves those pools again.
If you’re going for a complete collection, this is one of those dates you definitely don’t want to miss.
Special Fishing Rewards
Fishing isn’t only about catching fish.
There are several unusual items hiding in the fishing pools, including a hat, cloth strips, and music CDs. Most importantly, several of these are one-time rewards.
Once you’ve caught one, it won’t continue appearing in later fishing rolls on that save.
| Reward | Location | Month | Tier | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kelp | Doloc Dock central and bridge pools | Any | 7 | Repeatable |
| Fishbowl Hat | Wetland hidden cave pool | Any | 1 | One per save |
| Damp Cloth Strip #1 | Freshwater, Deep Forest, Doloc Dock central/bridge pools | Any | 5 | One per save |
| Damp Cloth Strip #2 | Freshwater, Deep Forest, Doloc Dock central/bridge pools | Any | 5 | One per save |
| Damp Cloth Strip #3 | Freshwater, Deep Forest, Doloc Dock central/bridge pools | Any | 5 | One per save |
| Melody of Sunny Day #2 | Freshwater, Deep Forest, Doloc Dock central/bridge pools | Any | 5 | One per save |
| Melody of Sunny Day #3 | Freshwater, Deep Forest, Doloc Dock central/bridge pools | Any | 5 | One per save |
| Melody of Sunny Day #5 | Freshwater, Deep Forest, Doloc Dock central/bridge pools | Any | 5 | One per save |
| Melody of Sunny Day #6 | Freshwater, Deep Forest, Doloc Dock central/bridge pools | Any | 5 | One per save |
| Special Melody #1 | Freshwater, Deep Forest, Doloc Dock central/bridge pools | Light Rain 25–27 | 4 | One per save |
Don’t Miss the Fishbowl Hat
The Fishbowl Hat is particularly easy to overlook because it comes from a very specific location: the Wetland hidden cave pool.
It can be caught with the Basic Fishing Rod and has no special weather or month requirement.
The catch? It’s one per save.
So if you’re collecting everything, make sure you fish that hidden pool rather than assuming every reward comes from the common freshwater locations.
The Damp Cloth Strips
There are three separate Damp Cloth Strip rewards.
All three can come from the freshwater, Deep Forest, and Doloc Dock pools, and each is limited to one per save.
Because they’re Tier 5 rewards, you may need to spend some time fishing before they show up.
Melody of Sunny Day CDs
The four listed Melody of Sunny Day rewards are tied to specific weather conditions:
- #2 – Light Rain
- #3 – Heavy Rain
- #5 – Early Dry
- #6 – Harsh Dry
They can be fished from freshwater, Deep Forest, and Doloc Dock central/bridge pools.
All four are one-time rewards, so once you catch each one, it disappears from the pool.
Special Melody #1
This one is tied directly to the Salmon Festival.
Special Melody #1 appears during Light Rain 25–27 and can be caught in the same freshwater and Doloc Dock pools used for the other special rewards.
It is also one per save.
Best Way to Approach Fishing in Doloc Town
If you’re just starting out, don’t worry about buying every rod immediately.
I’d go about it like this:
Start with the Old Fishing Rod. You’ll get it naturally through Lightman’s fishing tutorial, and it already opens up a large portion of the fish list.
Then save toward the Bamboo Fishing Rod. At 1,000, it’s considerably cheaper than the late-game rods, and it reaches the maximum rod requirement currently used by the fish list.
After that, start targeting fish based on their conditions rather than randomly fishing everywhere.
For example, if you’re after Mahi-mahi, there’s no reason to spend hours at freshwater pools. You need the Core Sample, Bamboo Fishing Rod, and Harsh Dry conditions at Doloc Dock.
Likewise, if you’re hunting Sturgeon, focus on the freshwater locations during Light Rain or Early Dry after activating the Water Purification Core.
And if you’re trying to complete the collection, keep an eye on the Salmon Festival dates. Some catches are much easier to miss because they’re tied to a very small calendar window.
