Success in Sir, We Have an Orc Problem isn’t just about building the strongest towers—it’s about giving each tower the right role. Every defense fits into one (or more) of three categories: Power, Support, and Cleanup. Combining these roles effectively is the key to clearing difficult maps and earning every achievement.
Sir, We Have an Orc Problem Towers Tier List & Strategy Guide
Power Towers
Power towers are your primary source of damage. They excel at destroying large groups of Orcs thanks to their high DPS and good piercing capabilities.
These towers should be positioned to cover major choke points where enemies naturally group together.
Support Towers
Support towers improve the effectiveness of your entire defence by applying crowd control, slowing enemies, increasing damage taken, or knocking enemies backward.
Although they rarely deal the highest damage themselves, they greatly increase the efficiency of your Power towers.
Cleanup Towers
Cleanup towers specialise in eliminating enemies that survive your main defenses.
They usually have fast attack speeds or excellent single-target damage, making them ideal for preventing small groups of Orcs from slipping through.
All Towers Explained
Machine Gun
Role: Power / Cleanup
The Machine Gun fires extremely quickly but has relatively low damage and pierce early on.
Its high fire rate makes it excellent at finishing weakened Orcs, while fully upgraded versions deal enough sustained damage to thin out entire waves. Because of this, it’s one of the most reliable towers throughout the game.
Best Use
- Cleaning up surviving enemies
- Supporting Cannon kill zones
- Consistent DPS throughout every wave
Mortar
Role: Support / Power
Mortars deal area damage with unlimited pierce while also knocking enemies backward.
Although their raw damage isn’t as impressive as Cannons, their knockback can completely control narrow choke points by repeatedly pushing enemies back into your primary defenses.
Avoid placing too many where knockback could accidentally push enemies past your defensive line.
Best Use
- Controlling narrow paths
- Delaying large waves
- Supporting Cannon kill zones
Cannon
Role: Power
The Cannon is one of the strongest damage dealers in the game.
Its enormous damage and excellent pierce allow it to erase massive groups of Orcs in a single shot. Position Cannons so they fire down long lanes or concentrate several together around important choke points.
Best Use
- Primary horde clearing
- High-traffic lanes
- Main damage dealer
Flamethrower
Role: Support / Power / Cleanup
The Flamethrower is the most versatile tower available.
While its direct damage is respectable, its greatest strength comes from applying a 30% damage amplification debuff, allowing every nearby tower to hit much harder.
It also increases the chance that certain towers won’t consume pierce, further boosting overall damage.
Best Use
- Place just before your main damage towers
- Increase overall DPS
- Support Cannons and Machine Guns
Tesla Coil
Role: Cleanup
The Tesla Coil is widely considered one of the strongest towers in the game.
It attacks rapidly, chains electricity between enemies, stuns targets, and fires in every direction without needing to rotate.
Although it isn’t the best horde clearer during later stages, it excels at eliminating any enemies that survive your frontline defenses.
Best Use
- Behind your main defenses
- Cleaning up escaped Orcs
- Defending multiple directions
Grenade Launcher
Role: Support
The Grenade Launcher focuses on slowing enemies and increasing the damage they receive.
Its own damage isn’t particularly impressive, but the powerful slow effect gives your high-damage towers much more time to eliminate incoming waves.
Best Use
- In front of kill zones
- Supporting Cannons and Lasers
- Slowing elite enemies
Laser
Role: Power
Lasers feature unlimited pierce, exceptional range, and bouncing beams.
Their effectiveness depends heavily on the terrain. On maps with long straight paths or flat walls, Lasers can create devastating “laser walls” that continuously damage enemies passing through.
They’re less reliable on uneven terrain where beam bounces become inconsistent.
Best Use
- Long straight lanes
- Flat maps
- Creating laser walls
Best Tower Tier List
S Tier
Tesla Coil
The strongest all-around tower thanks to its fast attacks, chain lightning, crowd control, and 360-degree targeting. It excels as a cleanup tower on almost every map.
Cannon
The highest damage dealer for clearing large hordes. Proper placement allows Cannons to destroy waves before they reach your frontline.
A Tier
Machine Gun
Reliable, consistent, and useful throughout every stage. While it doesn’t dominate a specific role, it performs well in nearly every situation.
Laser
Outstanding on maps that favour long firing lanes, but terrain can significantly affect its performance.
B Tier
Grenade Launcher
A strong support option that provides slowing effects and increased damage, making it valuable when paired with your primary damage towers.
Flamethrower
Highly versatile and always useful thanks to its damage amplification effect, though it doesn’t outperform specialised towers in pure damage or support.
C Tier
Mortar
Mortars can completely control choke points with knockback, but they require careful placement. Poor positioning can actually push Orcs past your defenses, making them the most situational tower in the game.
Stages Strategies
Stages 1.1 and 2.1
These achievements are straightforward.
Focus on building nearly maxed-out Missile Towers alongside any fully upgraded damage tower. Raw firepower is more than enough to complete both stages.
Stage 3.1
Tesla Coils perform exceptionally well thanks to their versatility.
Flamethrowers, Machine Guns, and Lasers are also viable alternatives, although they require slightly better positioning.
Stage 4.1
Use Flamethrowers near the front to weaken enemies before they reach a line of Tesla Coils.
The damage amplification makes Tesla cleanup much more effective.
Stage 5.1
Cannons and Machine Guns should handle the main wave.
Since Lasers don’t bounce well near entrances on this map, Tesla Coils are recommended behind your frontline to eliminate any survivors.
Stage 6.1
Lasers excel on this stage because the enclosed corridors maximise their bouncing attacks.
Support them with Machine Guns, Cannons, and Tesla Coils for reliable wave clearing.
Be aware that explosive Orcs can occasionally create unpredictable situations by launching enemies forward.
Stage 6.2
One effective strategy is dividing the map into sections using Laser walls.
Protect remaining entrances with Cannon and Machine Gun clusters while using Mortars to seal smaller choke points.
Place Grenade Launchers or Flamethrowers in front of each kill zone, then position Tesla Coils behind the main defenses to eliminate anything that breaks through.
