Anime Expeditions Tier List – Best Units for DPS, Support

Anime Expeditions has finally arrived, and after spending time testing units and seeing how they perform in real matches, it’s already clear that not every Mythic is worth chasing. Some characters dominate every game mode, while others only shine in specific situations or are simply stepping stones until you pull something stronger.

The biggest mistake new players make is burning hundreds of rerolls on flashy units that don’t actually carry games. That’s exactly why I wanted to put this guide together.

Instead of only throwing every character into a tier list without context, I’m going to explain why each unit belongs where it does. Sometimes a character deals amazing damage but struggles in later waves. Other times a support unit can increase your team’s damage so much that they’re actually more valuable than another DPS.

Keep in mind that Anime Expeditions is still in its early days. Future balance patches, evolutions, and new traits could change the meta, but this ranking reflects how the units perform right now.

S+ Tier Units Explained

Megumi

If I had to recommend one unit for almost every player, it would probably be Megumi.

He isn’t just another high-damage character. His entire kit is loaded with utility.

He summons multiple shikigami, including:

  • Bird that repeatedly stuns enemies
  • Wolf that applies Bleed
  • Mahoraga, which becomes the main source of damage

Mahoraga is what makes Megumi feel so powerful. Instead of sitting in one location, it can teleport around the map to stop leaked enemies before they become a problem.

On top of that, Megumi has:

  • Huge cone AoE attacks
  • Excellent scaling into late waves
  • Domain expansion that boosts his overall performance
  • Strong crowd control
  • Consistently high DPS

He’s one of those units that keeps getting stronger as matches go on.

Best For

  • Story
  • Expeditions
  • Endless
  • Boss stages

Kachi (Eight Sword Berserk)

Kachi is easily among the highest damage dealers in Anime Expeditions.

His Berserk mode lets him deal ridiculous damage while also applying one of the most annoying debuffs enemies can receive.

His biggest strengths include:

  • Massive Full AoE attacks
  • Permanent Dismember slow
  • Excellent boss damage
  • Very high DPS output

The permanent slow alone makes him incredibly valuable since enemies never recover from it.

If you’re looking for pure damage, Kachi is one of the safest investments in the game.

Frieren

Frieren feels incredibly consistent.

Unlike certain units that rely on teammates or special setups, she simply walks into a stage and starts dealing huge amounts of magic damage.

Her strengths include:

  • Full AoE attacks
  • Stack mechanic that increases damage
  • Multiple powerful spells
  • Reliable wave clearing

She’s the definition of a dependable DPS unit.

Uta

Uta is one of the most unique characters currently available.

Instead of relying only on his own attacks, he copies part of another nearby unit’s damage.

This mechanic allows him to become absurdly powerful when paired with your strongest DPS characters.

His kit also includes:

  • Damage copying
  • Bleed from summoned bats
  • Strong base DPS
  • Excellent synergy with high-end traits

Players especially like pairing him with Boundless or other high damage units because copying even 40% of that damage adds up quickly.

Toy Maker

Toy Maker is probably the most underrated unit in the game right now.

At first glance, she doesn’t seem impressive because most people focus only on damage numbers.

Her real strength comes from summons.

Every few seconds she creates powerful toys that:

  • Block enemies
  • Tank huge amounts of damage
  • Scale with upgrades
  • Become even stronger after every fifth summon

The mutated summons have enormous HP pools, making them incredible at preventing leaks.

She’s especially useful on maps with multiple lanes since her summons can cover different paths.

As players unlock better traits and upgrades, Toy Maker only becomes stronger.

Goth

Goth is another excellent damage dealer that sits just outside the very top of the meta.

His overall damage output is excellent throughout longer matches, making him one of the better Mythic choices if you don’t own Megumi or Kachi.

He doesn’t bring as much utility as the very best characters, but his raw damage is enough to justify building him.

S Tier Units

These aren’t quite game-breaking, but they’re absolutely worth using.

Forbidden Teacher

Forbidden Teacher is one of the best support units for magical teams.

Instead of dealing incredible damage himself, he increases the damage of your magic units significantly.

If your team revolves around:

  • Megumi
  • Frieren
  • Other magical attackers

then Forbidden Teacher becomes almost mandatory.

Physical Damage Buffer

This unit works exactly like Forbidden Teacher, except for physical attackers.

If your main DPS units deal physical damage, this support becomes one of the strongest characters you can bring.

Choosing between the two depends entirely on your team composition.

Enomaki

Currently the best slowing support in Anime Expeditions.

He provides:

  • Large slow percentage
  • Better upgrades after evolution
  • Excellent crowd control

Slowing enemies gives every DPS unit more time to attack, making Enomaki valuable even if his own damage isn’t amazing.

True Saint

True Saint mixes support with respectable damage.

She applies a special status effect while still contributing decent DPS.

Although her exact passive isn’t as flashy as other supports, she’s still a solid addition for many teams.

Ice Cream

Ice Cream focuses on freezing enemies.

While freeze isn’t as universally useful as slowing, it’s still fantastic during difficult boss waves or when enemies begin overwhelming your defenses.

A Tier Units

Ichigo

Ichigo performs better than many people expected.

His strengths include:

  • Good damage
  • Useful abilities
  • Reliable performance

The only issue is that other Mythics simply outperform him once you reach late-game content.

He’s still worth using if you pull him early.

Choso

Choso specializes in Bleed damage.

His abilities create:

  • Bleed lines
  • Blood puddles
  • Continuous damage over time

He won’t reach the insane numbers of Megumi or Kachi, but he’s definitely capable of carrying early and mid-game content.

Lady Giant

Lady Giant offers strong AoE damage while also providing minor crowd control through her rock mechanics.

She’s effective against groups of enemies and performs consistently throughout most stages.

Although she isn’t among the absolute best DPS units, she’s still a reliable option.

B Tier Units

Sabo

Sabo shines mostly during the early stages of progression.

His damage over time is respectable, but he starts falling behind once stronger Mythics become available.

Use him while building your roster, then replace him later.

Doflamingo

Doflamingo is another decent starter character.

He performs well enough for beginners but lacks the scaling needed for difficult late-game content.

Good early investment.

Not a long-term carry.

Gabimaru

Gabimaru focuses on DoT effects and decent passive abilities.

Unfortunately, his overall damage doesn’t keep up with higher-tier DPS units.

He’s usable but far from a priority reroll target.

Best Farming Units

Money generators are extremely valuable since they let you upgrade your team much faster.

Stone Alchemist

Stone Alchemist is currently considered the strongest farming unit.

Why?

Because he generates the highest overall income.

With Investor trait and maximum placements, he produces significantly more money than most alternatives.

If your goal is reaching expensive upgrades faster, Stone Alchemist is your best choice.

Ramen Guy

Ramen Guy remains a great farming option.

He earns slightly less money than Stone Alchemist but is still more than capable of funding your late-game setup.

If you don’t own Stone Alchemist yet, Ramen Guy is a perfectly fine replacement.

Units Worth Rerolling For

If you’re planning to spend rerolls, these should be your highest priorities.

  1. Megumi
  2. Kachi
  3. Frieren
  4. Uta
  5. Toy Maker
  6. Goth

These six currently offer the strongest combination of damage, utility, scaling, and long-term value.

Best Support Units

Your team shouldn’t consist of only DPS characters.

The strongest support units are:

  • Enomaki (Best Slow)
  • Forbidden Teacher (Magic Buff)
  • Physical Damage Buffer
  • True Saint
  • Ice Cream (Freeze)

A strong support often increases your overall damage more than replacing one DPS with another attacker.

The release version of Anime Expeditions already has a surprisingly interesting meta. While characters like Megumi and Kachi clearly dominate the damage charts, units such as Toy Maker prove that utility can be just as powerful as raw DPS. Her ability to continuously summon durable allies makes difficult maps much easier, especially on stages with multiple lanes.

Meanwhile, supports like Enomaki and Forbidden Teacher shouldn’t be overlooked. A properly buffed team often clears harder content more consistently than a roster made entirely of damage dealers.

If you’re just starting out, don’t feel pressured to own every S+ unit immediately. Focus on building one strong DPS, pair them with a reliable support, and invest in a farming unit early. That combination will carry you through most of the game’s current content while you continue expanding your collection.
