Anime Expeditions Beginner Guide – Quest, Map, NPC

Starting a brand-new Roblox tower defense game can feel overwhelming, especially one with as many progression systems as Anime Expeditions. Within your first hour, you’ll encounter banners, traits, equipment, evolutions, challenges, expeditions, raids, crafting, quests, and several different currencies. If you try to learn everything at once, it’s easy to waste resources or slow down your progress.

The good news is that early progression is actually pretty straightforward once you know what to prioritize. Instead of spending Gems randomly or farming the wrong stages, you should focus on unlocking the systems that make your account stronger over time.

This beginner’s guide walks you through the best progression path, from your very first login all the way to preparing for Expeditions and other late-game content.

Anime Expeditions Beginner Guide – Quest, Map, NPC

When you load into Anime Expeditions for the first time, don’t rush straight into summoning.

Instead, spend a few minutes exploring the lobby and claiming every free reward available.

Your early priorities should be:

  • Claim Beginner Path rewards
  • Redeem all active codes
  • Complete beginner quests
  • Summon your starter team
  • Begin Story Mode

Doing these first gives you enough resources to build a much stronger starting roster.

Complete the Beginner Path

The Beginner Path is easily the most valuable progression system for new players.

Each chapter rewards useful items that help you progress much faster.

Rewards include:

  • Gems
  • Beginner Tickets
  • Trait Rerolls
  • Equipment
  • Farming unit
  • Various upgrade materials

Since every chapter unlocks the next one, try to complete Beginner Path objectives whenever possible instead of ignoring them.

It’s essentially free progression.

Redeem All Active Codes

Before spending any Gems, redeem every available Anime Expeditions code.

Codes frequently reward:

  • Gems
  • Trait Crystals
  • Rerolls
  • Upgrade materials
  • Event items

Even a few free rerolls early can make a huge difference.

Understanding the Summon Banners

Anime Expeditions currently features several banners, each serving a different purpose.

Beginner Banner

This banner uses Beginner Tickets earned through Beginner Path missions.

It includes:

  • Guaranteed Mythic pity
  • Beginner-friendly unit pool

If you’re just starting, always use your Beginner Tickets here.

Standard Banner

The Standard Banner contains:

  • Featured Mythics
  • Secret unit
  • Pity system

Most of your Gems will eventually be spent here.

Mini Banner

Mini Banners feature a smaller selection of characters.

Only summon here if you’re specifically targeting the featured Mythic.

Otherwise, the Standard Banner generally provides better overall value.

Which Units Should Beginners Keep?

You don’t need a full team of Mythics immediately.

A balanced team is much more important.

Try building around:

  • One strong DPS
  • One support
  • One farming unit
  • Crowd-control unit

As you unlock stronger Mythics, gradually replace your weaker units instead of rebuilding your entire team.

Complete Story Mode First

Story Mode should remain your main focus during the early game.

It unlocks:

  • New maps
  • Better rewards
  • Additional progression systems
  • Evolution materials
  • More farming opportunities

Don’t worry too much about Challenges or Raids until you’ve made good progress through the story.

Complete Star Missions

Every Story stage includes optional Star objectives.

These reward additional materials such as:

  • Gems
  • Trait Rerolls
  • Upgrade resources

It’s worth completing them whenever possible since you’ll eventually need those resources anyway.

Replay Hard Mode

Many beginners forget this.

Hard Mode gives first-time completion rewards just like Normal Mode.

That means you can earn another batch of:

  • Gems
  • Experience
  • Rewards

If you’re short on resources, Hard Mode is one of the best places to farm early progression.

Level Up Your Units

If Story starts becoming difficult, don’t immediately assume you need better characters.

Instead:

  • Farm easier Story stages
  • Collect EXP food
  • Feed your strongest units
  • Try again

A properly leveled Epic often performs better than an underleveled Mythic.

Understanding Traits

Traits provide permanent bonuses that improve your units.

Examples include:

  • More damage
  • Faster attacks
  • Increased range
  • Critical chance
  • Better DoT damage
  • Higher income

Don’t waste Trait Crystals on weak early-game units.

Save your rerolls for Mythics you’ll continue using.

Ascension

Duplicate units aren’t useless.

Extra copies can be used for Ascension, allowing your characters to become even stronger.

Never automatically delete duplicate Mythics until you’ve checked whether they’re needed for Ascension.

Stat Rerolls

Every unit has hidden potential stats.

These include:

  • Damage
  • Range
  • SPA

Later in the game, you’ll unlock Stat Rerolls that improve these values.

The locking system lets you keep good stats while rerolling weaker ones, making perfect units much easier to build.

Evolution

Evolution is one of the biggest power spikes in Anime Expeditions.

Besides increasing stats, evolved units gain completely new passive abilities.

The best part is that evolution materials for Mythics mostly come from Unit Quests, not random crafting.

Each eligible character has their own quest that rewards the unique evolution item required for their upgrade.

Crafting

As you clear Story Mode, you’ll collect Grey Sprites.

These are converted into colored Sprites used for:

  • Evolutions
  • Equipment crafting
  • Future upgrades

Never throw Grey Sprites away—you’ll need hundreds of them later.

Equipment

Equipment becomes available fairly early.

Each piece provides additional stats for your units.

Things to remember:

  • Different units can equip gear
  • Duplicate equipment cannot be stacked on the same character
  • Equipment stats can later be rerolled
  • Better gear significantly increases unit performance

Don’t ignore equipment just because your roster isn’t finished.

Daily Quests & Achievements

Make checking your quests a daily habit.

Achievements reward useful items like:

  • Gems
  • Cosmetics
  • Materials
  • Banner rewards

These rewards build up surprisingly quickly over time.

Challenges

Challenges are noticeably harder than Story Mode.

If you’re struggling:

  1. Go back to Story.
  2. Farm EXP food.
  3. Level your team.
  4. Upgrade your units.
  5. Return later.

Trying to force difficult Challenges too early usually wastes time.

Expeditions Explained

Expeditions are one of Anime Expeditions’ most unique game modes.

Instead of playing one long Story stage, you’ll travel through branching nodes while collecting rewards along the way.

Each run includes:

  • Multiple encounters
  • Random upgrades
  • Checkpoint shops
  • Recruitable units
  • Equipment rewards
  • Permanent buffs for the current run

It feels somewhat like a roguelike mode, where every expedition is slightly different.

Expedition Shops

During Expeditions you’ll occasionally reach checkpoints.

These shops allow you to:

  • Recruit temporary units
  • Buy stat upgrades
  • Increase payload health
  • Improve your team’s performance

Interestingly, recruited units often arrive already evolved and at a high level, making Expeditions surprisingly beginner-friendly even if your own roster isn’t fully developed.

Expedition Rewards

Completing Expedition nodes rewards items such as:

  • Fuel Cells
  • Equipment materials
  • Battle Pass XP
  • Expedition resources
  • Temporary buff cards

These rewards become increasingly valuable once you’ve finished the main Story progression.

Anime Expeditions has plenty of systems to learn, but you don’t need to master everything on day one. The most important thing is building a solid foundation by completing the Beginner Path, progressing through Story Mode, and investing your resources into a small group of strong units rather than spreading them across your entire roster. As your account grows, mechanics like Traits, Evolution, Equipment, and Expeditions become much more important and will provide the biggest power boosts.

Take your time, avoid wasting valuable rerolls and Gems early, and follow the progression roadmap above. By the time you unlock raids and other endgame content, you’ll already have a well-built team capable of tackling Anime Expeditions’ toughest challenges.
