The first few hours I played The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, I thought every enemy was just another monster with a different skin. That idea disappeared pretty quickly.
Some enemies are dangerous because they hit hard. Others barely damage you at all but completely ruin an expedition by separating your team, attracting every creature in the jungle, or making everyone panic. That’s really what makes this game special—you aren’t just fighting monsters, you’re fighting confusion, paranoia, and bad decisions.
This tier list isn’t based only on health or damage. Instead, it’s based on how threatening each enemy is during a real expedition, how much pressure it puts on your team, and how likely it is to end a successful run.

S Tier Enemies
These are the enemies that make experienced players nervous. Seeing one usually means it’s time for the whole team to pay attention.
Flesh Shambler
Health: 10,000
Nothing else comes close to matching the Flesh Shambler’s sheer durability.
Even before you consider its enormous health pool, the way it suddenly appears nearby makes every encounter feel stressful. It doesn’t simply chase players—it dominates the battlefield.
If your expedition isn’t prepared, this monster can wipe the entire group.
Dark Young of Shub-Niggurath
Bosses are meant to be memorable, and this one absolutely delivers.
Its presence alone changes how your team approaches the fight. Coordination becomes far more important than individual skill.
Never underestimate it.
Doppelganger
This is probably the creepiest enemy in the entire game.
Instead of charging directly at your group, it studies you first. It imitates humans, blends into the expedition, then attacks when everyone least expects it.
In co-op, this enemy creates panic even before combat begins.
Prowler
Some enemies kill you.
The Prowler prefers something much worse.
Instead of finishing you immediately, it isolates players by dragging them deep into the jungle, leaving them completely separated from the team.
That’s terrifying in a game where communication is everything.
Mi-Go
These creatures don’t rely on brute force.
Instead, they manipulate players by attacking from behind and influencing their thoughts.
They’re unpredictable, unsettling, and incredibly dangerous if your team loses awareness.
A Tier Enemies
Still extremely dangerous, but they usually offer more opportunities to react.
Crawling Canopy
Health: 180
At first glance, it looks like part of the jungle itself.
Then it moves.
Its biggest threat isn’t direct damage—it’s the strange substance it covers victims with, causing other enemies to become much more aggressive.
One mistake can suddenly turn into a swarm.
Deep One
Health: 120
These ancient amphibious creatures are surprisingly resilient.
They resist a large amount of incoming damage, making them much harder to kill than their health suggests.
Never assume they’re easy targets.
Hound of Tindalos
Health: 120
Despite having relatively low health, this creature can be incredibly disruptive.
It appears unexpectedly and targets valuable relics, making it a constant threat whenever your team is carrying important loot.
Transmuter
Health: 120
The Transmuter isn’t particularly terrifying on its own, but it becomes much more dangerous when combined with other enemies.
Its solid durability and aggressive behavior make it a consistent threat throughout expeditions.
Shoggoth Worm
A massive boss encounter that demands teamwork.
Its appearance alone usually forces everyone to stop whatever they’re doing and focus entirely on survival.
El Buey
Like every boss, El Buey is built around endurance and heavy pressure.
Expect a long fight rather than a quick victory.
B Tier Enemies
These enemies are dangerous, but experienced players usually know how to deal with them.
Brute Undead
Health: 170
Large health pool.
Heavy attacks.
Fortunately, it also takes increased damage, allowing coordinated teams to eliminate it faster than expected.
Hanged Undead
Health: 180
This enemy actually has one major weakness.
It receives triple damage, meaning powerful weapons can dispatch it surprisingly quickly.
Haunter of the Dark
The Haunter is more unsettling than mechanically difficult.
Its ability to lurk in darkness creates tension even when it isn’t actively attacking.
Formless Spawn
Trying to fight this creature head-on usually isn’t worth it.
It behaves unlike traditional enemies, making avoidance a better strategy than brute force.
Tue Tue Undead
This enemy can completely ruin stealth.
Its scream alerts nearby enemies and surrounds players with a dangerous mist.
If you accidentally trigger one, deal with it quickly before the situation spirals out of control.
The Boulder
Don’t let its appearance fool you.
It isn’t among the strongest bosses, but careless positioning can still get players eliminated.
C Tier Enemies
These are the creatures you’ll encounter most often.
They’re dangerous in groups but manageable individually.
Armored Undead
Health: 60
A dependable frontline enemy.
Nothing especially complicated here—it simply takes more effort than standard undead.
Berserk Undead
Health: 20
Low health makes these enemies easy to eliminate before they become a real problem.
Lamp Undead
Health: 60
Very similar to the standard undead.
A moderate threat, especially when several appear together.
Standard Undead
The enemies you’ll probably fight more than anything else.
They aren’t difficult individually, but large groups can overwhelm unprepared players.
Y’m-bhi
These tragic undead are more disturbing from a lore perspective than from a gameplay one.
They’re capable fighters but don’t usually dominate encounters.
Huemul
Health: 30
More of a wildlife encounter than a serious threat.
Most expeditions can deal with them easily.
D Tier Enemies
These enemies rarely decide the outcome of an expedition.
Lightning Undead
Health: 2
With almost no health, they’re eliminated almost instantly.
Tyrano Horse
Its behavior currently doesn’t make it nearly as threatening as other creatures in the jungle.
Wormy
Another minor creature that doesn’t pose much danger compared to the horrors found deeper in the expedition.
One thing I really like about The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu is that not every terrifying enemy is dangerous because it deals huge damage. Some monsters manipulate your team, others force bad decisions, and a few exist simply to create panic.
That’s why I wouldn’t judge these enemies by their health bars alone. A 20-health enemy can still end an expedition if it alerts every creature nearby, while a massive boss becomes much easier when four players stay calm and work together.
As the game receives future updates, new enemies and balance changes may shift these rankings, but for now, these are the creatures that deserve the most respect whenever you step into the cursed jungle.
