With the launch of Palworld Version 1.0, Pocketpair introduced dozens of brand-new Pals, and one of the cutest additions is Wispaw. Don’t let its small size fool you though—this Dark-type Pal has a unique Partner Skill that makes catching other Pals easier, respectable utility around your base, and several useful breeding combinations. While it may not replace top-tier combat Pals like Jetragon or Jormuntide Ignis, it’s still worth tracking down if you’re trying to complete your Paldeck or build a versatile collection.
If you’re looking for where to find Wispaw, how to breed it, its Partner Skill, Active Skills, Work Suitability, weaknesses, drops, and whether it’s actually worth using, this guide covers everything currently known after the 1.0 release.
Palworld 1.0 Wispaw Guide – Location, Breeding, Skills, Drops
| Attribute | Details |
|---|---|
| Paldeck No. | #50 |
| Name | Wispaw |
| Element | Dark |
| Added In | Version 1.0 |
| Partner Skill | Death-Cheating Feline |
Wispaw is one of the 73 new Pals introduced with the full Version 1.0 release. Its design mixes an adorable cat-like creature with ghostly floating hands, giving it a mysterious but surprisingly charming appearance.
According to its official Paldeck description:
The ghostly hands behind it embody the souls of all humans who have raised its kind. Lately, they seem to have reached a unanimous consensus to dote on Wispaw.
It’s easily one of the more memorable new Paldeck entries introduced in the update.
Where to Find Wispaw
Finding Wispaw depends on both location and time of day.
Nighttime Habitat
Wispaw naturally appears in several areas during the night. Once the sun goes down, it begins spawning around its designated nighttime habitats, making evening exploration the best time to search for one in the overworld.
If you’re specifically hunting Wispaw, it’s worth bringing a Flying Mount so you can quickly move between spawn locations before sunrise.
World Tree Location
One of the biggest advantages of Version 1.0 is the addition of the World Tree region.
Unlike its normal habitat, Wispaw can be found inside the World Tree area during both daytime and nighttime, making this the most reliable place to search.
If you’ve already unlocked the new World Tree map, there’s no real reason to wait until night anymore.
Personally, I’d recommend farming the World Tree region because it removes the time restriction entirely and saves quite a bit of waiting.
How to Breed Wispaw
If you don’t feel like searching the map, breeding is another excellent option.
The following breeding combinations can produce Wispaw:
| Parent 1 | Parent 2 |
|---|---|
| Penking Lux | Leezpunk Ignis |
| Dynamoff | Chikipi |
| Elgrove | Kelpsea Ignis |
| Gloopie Primo | Rooby |
| Snugloo | Dinossom |
| Leafan | Teafant |
| Elgrove | Ribbuny Botan |
These aren’t the only combinations available, but they’re among the confirmed breeding recipes currently known.
Breeding is often much faster than repeatedly searching for rare overworld spawns, especially once you’ve already built a proper Breeding Farm.
Best Ways to Use Wispaw in Breeding
After catching your first Wispaw, you can also use it as a breeding parent for several other Pals.
Here are some useful combinations:
| Parent Combination | Child |
|---|---|
| Wispaw + Grizzbolt | Vanwyrm |
| Wispaw + Panthalus | Omascul |
| Wispaw + Lifmunk | Herbil |
| Wispaw + Chikipi | Leezpunk |
| Wispaw + Renjishi | Warsect |
| Wispaw + Aegidron | Omascul |
| Wispaw + Lamball | Jelliette |
If you enjoy filling out your Paldeck through breeding instead of catching everything in the wild, Wispaw becomes much more valuable than it first appears.
Partner Skill
Death-Cheating Feline
Wispaw’s exclusive Partner Skill is called Death-Cheating Feline.
While Wispaw is in your party, it increases your capture rate whenever you’re awarded a Back Bonus while throwing a Pal Sphere.
This encourages a stealthier playstyle.
Instead of running directly toward wild Pals, approaching them from behind before throwing your sphere gives you a better chance of successfully catching them.
It’s a fairly specialized ability, but players who spend lots of time completing the Paldeck will definitely appreciate it.
Active Skills
Although Wispaw isn’t considered a top-tier damage dealer, it still learns several powerful attacks throughout its progression.
Blizzard Spike
- Element: Ice
- Power: 450
- Cooldown: 20 seconds
Creates a massive block of ice before launching it toward enemies. The impact also damages nearby targets, making it one of Wispaw’s strongest area-of-effect attacks.
Dark Ball
- Element: Dark
- Power: 50
- Cooldown: 2 seconds
Launches a slow-moving sphere of darkness that automatically tracks its target.
Shadow Burst
- Element: Dark
- Power: 80
- Cooldown: 4 seconds
Instantly releases dark energy around Wispaw, damaging nearby enemies.
Spirit Flame
- Element: Dark
- Power: 200
- Cooldown: 12 seconds
Fires three dark projectiles that continuously pursue enemies before exploding.
Nightmare Ball
- Element: Dark
- Power: 300
- Cooldown: 16 seconds
Summons an enormous sphere of darkness before throwing it directly at an opponent.
Apocalypse
- Element: Dark
- Power: 400
- Cooldown: 20 seconds
Creates multiple dark vortexes around the battlefield that damage enemies caught inside.
Dark Laser
- Element: Dark
- Power: 450
- Cooldown: 20 seconds
Charges a concentrated beam of dark energy before unleashing one of Wispaw’s highest-damage attacks.
Work Suitability
Even though Wispaw isn’t designed as a dedicated worker, it can still contribute around your base.
| Work Type | Level |
|---|---|
| Handiwork | Lv. 2 |
| Lumbering | Lv. 1 |
| Medicine Production | Lv. 1 |
| Transporting | Lv. 1 |
Handiwork Level 2
This is Wispaw’s strongest Work Suitability. It helps craft structures, build furniture, assemble workstations, and complete various crafting jobs around your base.
Lumbering Level 1
Wispaw can chop trees and gather wood, although it won’t compete with dedicated lumbering specialists.
Medicine Production Level 1
It can assist with crafting medicine and consumables at Medicine Workbenches whenever needed.
Transporting Level 1
After other Pals gather materials, Wispaw can help move them into storage containers around your base.
Overall, it’s a decent support worker rather than a specialized production Pal.
Best Passive Skills
Since Wispaw is still a newly released Pal, players generally prioritize passive skills that improve either combat or utility.
Some of the strongest passive choices include:
- Musclehead
- Ferocious
- Serenity
- Legend (late-game)
- Burly Body (for survivability)
If you’re mainly using Wispaw for breeding or capturing Pals, passive skills become less important than its Partner Skill.
Catch Strategy
Because Wispaw belongs to the Dark element, it’s weak against Dragon-type attacks.
Bringing a strong Dragon Pal lets you weaken it much faster before attempting a capture.
Just be careful not to defeat it accidentally, especially if you’re using high-level legendary Dragon Pals.
Since Wispaw’s Partner Skill revolves around Back Bonus captures, it’s actually a good idea to practice sneaking behind wild Pals while searching for one.
Weakness
Weak Against:
- Dragon Element
Avoid relying on Dark-type attacks against it, as they won’t be nearly as effective.
Item Drops
Defeating or capturing Wispaw may reward the following materials:
- Leather
- Small Pal Soul
Leather is useful for crafting equipment throughout the game, while Small Pal Souls remain an important upgrade material for strengthening your favorite Pals later on.
