Palworld 1.0 has finally arrived, and it’s one of the biggest updates the game has received so far. Along with the new World Tree region, Sunreach, additional Pals, balance changes, and new mechanics, the overall meta has shifted quite a bit. Some longtime favorites are still dominating, while several new Pals have climbed straight into the top tier.
If you’re returning after a break or just starting your adventure, you might be wondering which Pals are actually worth adding to your team. The truth is that there isn’t one “perfect” Pal for everything. Some excel in combat, others are incredible workers around your base, while a few are simply unmatched when it comes to traveling across the world.
Instead of looking only at raw attack power, this tier list considers overall usefulness in Update 1.0, including combat performance, exploration, mount abilities, and base efficiency.

SS Tier Pals
These are the strongest Pals currently available after the 1.0 update. Whether you’re fighting bosses, exploring late-game areas, or building an efficient team, it’s hard to go wrong with any of these.
Jormuntide Ignis
If you’re looking for pure offensive power, Jormuntide Ignis is still one of the strongest Pals in the entire game. Its Fire and Dragon typing gives it fantastic elemental coverage, allowing it to deal with a huge variety of enemies. It also performs extremely well around your base thanks to its high Kindling level, making it just as useful outside of combat.
Jetragon
Jetragon continues to be one of the most valuable Pals in Palworld. Not only is it an incredible Dragon attacker, but it’s also still the fastest flying mount available. Being able to travel across the massive 1.0 map so quickly makes exploration dramatically easier, especially once you begin visiting the new regions.
Frostallion
Frostallion remains one of the strongest legendary Pals thanks to its excellent combat stats and outstanding mobility. While mounted, it also empowers your attacks with Ice damage, making both you and your Pal significantly stronger during fights.
Lyleen Noct
Lyleen Noct isn’t simply another powerful attacker. Its healing abilities can completely change difficult battles by keeping both you and your team alive longer. It also has excellent offensive coverage, making it one of the safest all-around choices for challenging content.
Hartalis
Hartalis is one of the biggest winners of Update 1.0. Besides having impressive damage output, it offers incredible mobility with its triple jump and can even create defensive barriers during combat. Those unique abilities make it feel much more versatile than many other legendary Pals.
Neptilius
Neptilius quickly became the king of water exploration after the update. It’s an amazing combat Pal while also serving as the fastest and most efficient Water mount currently available. If you spend a lot of time exploring coastlines and islands, Neptilius is absolutely worth obtaining.
Bellanoir Libero
Bellanoir Libero has established itself as one of the strongest Dark attackers in the game. Thanks to its unique passive ability and excellent Ice coverage, it performs exceptionally well against Dragon enemies while remaining a powerful late-game combat option.
Anubis
Anubis continues proving why it’s one of the community’s favorite Pals. It deals excellent Ground damage, performs extremely well during combat, and is arguably the best overall worker thanks to its outstanding Handiwork capabilities. The fact that players can breed one relatively early makes it even more valuable.
S Tier Pals
These Pals are still incredibly strong and can easily carry you through endgame content.
Xenolord
Xenolord combines Dark and Dragon elements into an extremely powerful offensive package. It has excellent speed and deals massive damage, although fully upgrading one requires a bit more investment than many other top-tier Pals.
Blazamut Ryu
Blazamut Ryu performs well almost everywhere. It deals strong Dragon damage while mounted and is also one of the best workers for mining and smelting, making it an outstanding dual-purpose Pal.
Selyne
Selyne shines both during combat and around your base. While it doesn’t quite reach SS Tier overall, it’s still one of the most dependable all-rounders introduced into the late-game meta.
Xenogard
Xenogard delivers consistent damage with strong survivability, making it a reliable choice if you’re looking for another capable combat companion.
A Tier Pals
These Pals are excellent choices throughout most of the game and are much easier to obtain than many legendary options.
Rayhound
Rayhound remains a fast and reliable companion for both exploration and combat, especially during the mid-game.
Kitsun
Kitsun offers balanced performance with respectable damage and mobility, making it a comfortable option for players who haven’t reached legendary content yet.
Eye of Cthulu
Eye of Cthulu delivers respectable combat performance and can easily remain part of your active party until you unlock stronger legendary Pals.
B Tier Pals
These Pals are still perfectly usable, but they tend to be overshadowed by stronger alternatives once your collection grows.
Azurobe Cryst
A decent Ice-based Pal that performs well early on but eventually gets replaced by stronger legendary options.
Pyrin Noct
Pyrin Noct offers solid mobility and acceptable damage but struggles to compete against the higher-tier mounts introduced in recent updates.
Sweepa
Sweepa remains fun to use and has decent combat potential, but it lacks the overall versatility offered by many stronger Pals.
Best Combat Pals
If your main focus is defeating Alpha Pals, Tower Bosses, and endgame enemies, these are currently the strongest choices.
- Jormuntide Ignis
- Jetragon
- Frostallion
- Bellanoir Libero
- Hartalis
- Neptilius
- Anubis
These Pals consistently deal massive damage while remaining effective throughout the entire game.
Best Base Pals
Building an efficient base is just as important as having a powerful combat team.
Some of the best workers include:
- Jormuntide Ignis for Kindling
- Jormuntide for Watering
- Lyleen for Planting
- Orserk for Electricity
- Selyne for Handiwork
- Astegon for Mining
- Bellanoir for Medicine Production
- Frostallion for Cooling
- Beegarde for overall versatility
If you’re trying to automate your base, these Pals should be among your highest priorities.
Best Mounts
Flying Mount
Jetragon
Still the fastest flying mount in Palworld and the easiest recommendation for exploring the enormous 1.0 map.
Ground Mount
Azurmane
One of the fastest land mounts available while remaining excellent during combat.
Water Mount
Neptilius
The addition of Update 1.0 pushed Neptilius straight to the top thanks to its incredible swimming speed and excellent mobility across oceans.
Glider Pal
Galeclaw
Galeclaw remains the best Glider Pal thanks to its unmatched speed and smooth movement.
Update 1.0 has reshaped Palworld’s meta in a big way, introducing several new top-tier Pals while giving players even more reasons to experiment with different team compositions. Jormuntide Ignis still sits comfortably among the strongest combat Pals in the game, Jetragon remains the king of aerial exploration, and newcomers like Hartalis and Neptilius have quickly earned their place among the best overall companions.
That said, don’t feel like you need a full team of legendary Pals to enjoy the game. Many A and S Tier options are easier to obtain and can comfortably carry you through most of the game’s content. As future updates continue adding new Pals and balance changes, the rankings will undoubtedly evolve, but for Palworld Update 1.0, these are the companions that stand above the rest.
