Fisch Fossil Retrieval Quest Guide – 15 Fossil Fish Quest

The Fossil Retrieval Quest is one of the key objectives in the new Drylands update for Fisch. At first, it can seem confusing because it ties into several earlier quests and eventually leads to crafting one of the update’s most important fishing rods.

If you’ve reached the point where you’re asked to collect 15 Unique Fossil Fish, don’t rush straight into farming. There are a few requirements you’ll need to complete first, and skipping them will only slow you down.

Here’s how to complete the Fossil Retrieval Quest and unlock the next stage of the Drylands storyline.

Fisch Fossil Retrieval Quest Guide – 15 Unique Fossil Fish Quest

Before you can start working toward the Fossil Retrieval Quest, you must finish the first two quests in the Drylands questline.

These earlier missions unlock the progression needed for the later stages of the update. If you haven’t completed them yet, the Fossil Retrieval Quest won’t be available.

Once those quests are done, you can move on to gathering the materials needed for the next objective.

Collect 15 Unique Fossil Fish

The main objective of the Fossil Retrieval Quest is to collect:

15 different Fossil Fish

It’s important to note that the quest requires unique Fossil Fish. Catching duplicates won’t increase your progress, so you’ll need to keep exploring until you’ve discovered fifteen different species.

As you continue Sand Fishing throughout the Drylands, you’ll gradually add new Fossil Fish to your collection.

If you’re missing only one or two entries, avoid repeatedly fishing in the exact same location. Exploring different fishing spots may help you discover the remaining fossils more quickly.

Gather Materials for the Marrow Rod

After progressing through the Fossil Retrieval Quest, your next goal is crafting the Marrow Rod.

Before you can do that, you’ll need to gather all of the required crafting materials.

Make sure you have everything prepared before heading to the crafting location, as the Marrow Rod can’t be crafted just anywhere.

Unlock the Ancient Archives

The Marrow Rod is crafted inside the Ancient Archives, located on Ancient Isle.

If you haven’t unlocked this area yet, you’ll need to do so before attempting to craft the rod.

Once the Ancient Archives are accessible, you’ll finally be able to use the materials you’ve collected.

Craft the Marrow Rod

With all the required materials in your inventory and the Ancient Archives unlocked, craft the Marrow Rod.

Crafting the rod doesn’t just give you a new piece of equipment—it also advances the Mysterious Marrow Quest, making it one of the most important progression items in the Drylands update.

Why the Marrow Rod Is Important

The Marrow Rod isn’t simply another fishing rod to add to your collection.

It’s required for later parts of the Drylands storyline and unlocks additional quest progression.

If you’re planning to complete the entire update, crafting the Marrow Rod is something you’ll eventually need to do.

The Fossil Retrieval Quest is one of the major progression checkpoints in the Drylands update. While collecting 15 unique Fossil Fish takes some patience, it’s an important step toward unlocking the Marrow Rod and advancing the Mysterious Marrow storyline.

Once you’ve completed the earlier Drylands quests, gathered every unique fossil fish, and crafted the Marrow Rod at the Ancient Archives, you’ll be ready to continue the rest of the Drylands adventure.
