Becoming Choso in Kaizen isn’t one of those quick “press a button and unlock” things. It’s more like a full progression path where you need luck, grinding, and a bit of patience — especially because one of the biggest requirements is locked behind extremely low RNG.
And yeah… this is definitely one of those updates where you’ll spend way more time spinning and farming mastery than actually fighting.
But once everything finally clicks together, Blood Manipulation ends up being a really fun technique with strong projectiles, flashy visuals, and some surprisingly solid PvE performance.
Step 1 — Get the Kamo (Combo) Clan
The first thing you absolutely need is the Kamo Clan, sometimes called the “Combo Clan” in-game.
This is the core requirement because it directly buffs Blood Manipulation abilities. Without it, the technique still works, but it feels noticeably weaker and you miss out on stat boosts that make a huge difference in combat.
The biggest problem is the drop rate.
The clan has an extremely low chance to appear when spinning, even with lucky spins active. Most players end up spending a lot of spins before finally getting it.
Once you unlock it, though, the bonuses are immediately noticeable. It increases melee power, cursed energy, stamina, and provides a direct boost to Blood Manipulation techniques like Flowing Red Scale.
This is basically the foundation of the whole Choso build.
Step 2 — Buy the Blood Manipulation Technique
After securing the clan, you can purchase Blood Manipulation from the technique menu.
It starts as a Grade 1 technique with multiple unlockable moves tied to mastery progression. This means you won’t get the full moveset right away — you’ll need to grind mastery levels to unlock each skill.
Compared to special-grade techniques like Limitless or King of Curses, Blood Manipulation is slightly weaker in raw damage, but it makes up for it with versatility and ranged pressure.
Step 3 — Level Up Mastery Quickly
The fastest way to unlock all Blood Manipulation moves is simply fighting strong NPC enemies repeatedly.
Each battle grants mastery experience, and fighting tougher enemies yields faster progress. Large curse enemies are especially good targets because they give high mastery gains despite being slower to defeat.
As your mastery increases, new moves unlock gradually, starting with basic projectile attacks and eventually leading to more powerful abilities.
Grinding mastery can feel repetitive, but it’s unavoidable if you want the full moveset.
Step 4 — Understanding the Blood Manipulation Moveset
Once fully unlocked, Blood Manipulation offers a mix of ranged attacks, AoE damage, and combo potential.
Piercing Blood is one of the most useful early abilities because it can be charged for stronger projectile damage. It’s reliable and easy to land, making it great for both PvE and PvP.
Blood Daggers provide rapid projectile pressure and are particularly good for chaining into other abilities.
Blood Meteor introduces AoE damage and helps clear groups of enemies quickly, which is very helpful during mastery grinding.
Ground Surge is the final unlock, acting as a large-area attack that deals solid damage but is more situational due to its slower execution.
Overall, the moveset focuses heavily on ranged pressure rather than close combat.
Step 5 — Use the Mode Carefully
Blood Manipulation also includes a special mode that boosts power significantly.
However, this mode drains your health while active, which can catch many players off guard. It provides strong damage buffs, but you need to manage your timing carefully or risk losing fights simply from health drain.
Using it strategically during key moments rather than activating it constantly is the safest approach.
Step 6 — Complete the Choso Raid
The final step in fully becoming Choso is completing the new raid encounter.
This raid includes multiple enemies before the final boss fight against Choso himself. The boss has high health, strong projectile attacks, and aggressive combos that make the fight challenging without proper stats.
Team play helps significantly here because the boss scales in difficulty depending on the number of players participating.
Defeating the raid boss confirms your progression and effectively completes the Choso build experience.
Is Blood Manipulation Worth Getting?
Blood Manipulation isn’t the strongest technique in the game, but it’s definitely one of the most fun and visually satisfying.
Its biggest strengths are ranged control, consistent damage output, and strong synergy with the Kamo Clan buffs. It performs particularly well in PvE scenarios where you can keep enemies at a distance.
The main downsides are the heavy grind required to unlock it fully and the health-draining mode mechanic.
Still, for players who enjoy projectile-based combat and flashy anime-style abilities, it’s absolutely worth the effort.
Unlocking Choso in Kaizen is more of a journey than a simple unlock process. Between the rare clan spins, mastery grinding, and raid completion, it takes time and patience.
But once everything comes together, the Blood Manipulation playstyle feels smooth, powerful, and very satisfying to use.
It’s not the strongest meta pick, but it’s definitely one of the most enjoyable builds in the game right now.
