In this post, we will go through the important Bonus BP choices and tricky quests in Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter. Reaching Rank A requires 450 Bracer Points (BP), and the game allows you to collect a maximum of 452 BP. That means you have very little room for mistakes if you want to achieve the highest rank.
I have put together the important dialogue answers, quest tips, and bonus BP opportunities chapter by chapter. Some quests are easy to complete, while others can be failed if you choose the wrong option or miss a specific requirement.
You will need to complete the main story quests, sidequests, and available bonus objectives to reach maximum BP. I won’t explain every straightforward quest, but I will focus on the choices and tasks that can make a difference to your final rank.
If you’re still working through the first game, you can also check our Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter – Bonus BP Guide and Quest Tips. I’ll keep spoilers as limited as possible while explaining the important details you need to know.
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Walkthrough – Bonus BP, Quest
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter has seven Bracer ranks, starting from G and going up to A. You need to earn 450 BP out of the 452 available points to reach Rank A.
Throughout the game, you’ll encounter dialogue choices that affect your BP. The important choices are usually marked with a red option that includes a BP symbol.
Make sure you complete the story quests and sidequests while collecting the available bonuses. Some quests also have additional requirements, such as finding specific items, answering questions correctly, or finishing a task within a time limit.
New sidequests typically appear with a green icon on the minimap. In the remake, several quests that were hidden in the original Trails in the Sky SC are easier to find because of these minimap markers. There are also a few new quests to discover.
I won’t cover every quest in detail, especially those that are straightforward. Instead, the focus here is on the bonus BP choices and the quests where you might need a little extra help.
For boss battles, your available characters, equipment, and difficulty settings can change how you approach each fight. My general recommendation is to save before bosses and powerful quest monsters, use status-resistant accessories that match the enemy, and focus on one enemy at a time when multiple rage boosts can become difficult to handle.
Early in the game, you’ll choose between Schera and Agate as your travel companion. Most quests remain largely the same, but there is one quest with different instructions depending on your choice.
Main story quests are italicized throughout this guide.
Prologue Quests – Le Locle
Midnight Attack
During the prologue, you’ll encounter several opportunities to earn bonus BP. Pay attention to the dialogue prompts and make the following choices:
- When you hear gunfire: Select “Wake Up.” (2nd option, +2 BP)
- Defeat the Jaeger in the Le Locle lodge: You will receive +2 BP for winning. If you lose, the game allows you to retry or continue without earning the bonus.
- Who carried Estelle and Anelace to the forest? Select “The Jaeger assailants.” (2nd option, +2 BP)
- What did the Jaeger Corps do? Select “Move to a new base.” (3rd option, +3 BP). The 2nd option gives a reduced +1 BP.
- How will you bluff? Select “Call? There’s no need.” (2nd option, +2 BP)
Chapter 1 – Ruan Quests
Monster Quests
For the monster quests around Ruan, I recommend waiting until you have at least three party members before taking them on. Having a larger party makes these fights more manageable.
Ingredient Inquiry
You can complete this quest using three different types of ingredients, but you’ll want to collect all six if you’re aiming for the maximum reward.
The six monster ingredients required are:
- Monster Bone
- Monster Fang
- Monster Tender
- Monster Roe
- Monster Bird Egg
- Monster Horn
Most of these ingredients can be obtained while defeating monsters around the Ruan area and filling out your Monster Guide.
Monster Horn is probably the trickiest of the six to find. Flying Shrimp in Sapphirl Tower drop this ingredient, so make sure to check there if you’re missing it.
Give the questgiver all six ingredients to receive +2 BP along with bonus monster items.
Sapphirl Snapshot
For the Sapphirl Tower photo, you need to position yourself correctly before taking the picture.
Stand facing the device in the center, behind the front-most pillars, and take the photo looking straight ahead. This will give you +2 BP.
In the original Sky SC, the bonus BP depended on waiting until later in the chapter when escorting Dorothy. In the remake, I received the same +2 BP regardless of whether Dorothy was accompanying me.
Lighthouse Learning
The lighthouse switch puzzle is easier if you set everything to LOW first, then MID, and finally HIGH before starting.
The icons on the minimap should help you locate the switches. Once you’ve completed the task and speak to the lighthouse keeper, choose:
“Do you need anything else taken care of?”
This is the 2nd option and awards +1 BP. It’s also a callback to a previous quest in Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter.
The “White Shadow”
During the investigation, you’ll be asked:
“How do the three testimonies differ?”
Choose “The direction the white shadow disappeared in.”
- 2nd option: +3 BP
- 1st option: Reduced +1 BP
Make sure you choose the correct answer if you’re collecting every available point.

Drawbridge Defect
When asked what is causing the bridge malfunction, select:
“Human Intervention.”
This is the 2nd option and rewards +1 BP.
Election Office Outrage
This quest becomes available after finishing Chapter 1, and you must complete it in Ruan before departing for Zeiss.
To begin, visit Hotel Blanche and watch the sub-event with Nial, marked by a blue icon. When you try to leave, you’ll be given a request that starts the investigation.
You’ll need to investigate people across all four floors while asking about different topics. The prompts you’ll encounter include:
- Kooper
- The noise
- Anger
- Lunch
- Herio
- The bell
- Cleanup
- Belden
Visit the relevant markers and ask about each topic. Once you’ve collected the information, speak to Schera or Agate to go over the facts of the case.
When asked to identify the culprit, choose Option 6. For each question that follows, select Option 2 to present the facts.
There doesn’t appear to be a significant way to fail this investigation aside from choosing “Give Up” when speaking to Schera or Agate.
Bonus BP: None.
Winners Wanted
You must win a hand to complete this quest. If you fail, the quest itself fails, so pay close attention to the choices.
The sequence changes depending on whether you selected Schera or Agate as your travel companion.
If You Picked Schera
Estelle’s turn:
- Select “Trade everything but the pair.”
- Choose “Play your hand.”
Olivier’s turn:
- Select “Trade everything but the pair.”
- Choose “Fold.”
Schera’s turn:
- Select “Trade everything but the spades.”
If You Picked Agate
Agate’s turn:
- Select “Trade everything but the king.”
- Choose “Play your hand.”
Olivier’s turn:
- Select “Trade everything but the pair.”
- Choose “Fold.”
Estelle’s turn:
- Select “Discard your whole hand.”
Bonus BP: None.
Chapter 2 – Zeiss Quests
“Earthquake” Investigation
Near the beginning of Chapter 2, you’ll find a blue sub-event icon in Kaldia Tunnel. An NPC will tell you about a suspicious individual.
Speak to him to receive +3 BP.
Later in the chapter, you’ll be asked:
“How does this one compare to Wolf Fort?”
Choose “It was both.” (Option 3, +3 BP)
Firearm Field Test
The quest initially asks you to complete 10 Command (turn-based) Battles.
To receive the additional bonus, complete 15 Command Battles in total. This gives you +2 BP, which is five more battles than the original requirement.
Drill Duty
After completing two fights, you’ll have another battle against Lt. Colonel Cid.
Win this additional fight to earn +2 BP.
Probe for Parts
You’ll need to find all eight parts to receive the bonus BP.
The parts are located in the following areas:
- 3F Workshop: Three parts
- 4F Laboratory: Four parts
- 4F Infirmary: One part, found in Antoine the cat’s mouth
Once you’ve collected all eight parts, you’ll receive +2 BP.
Check the workshop and laboratory carefully if you’re having trouble finding any of the parts. Don’t forget to look for Antoine in the infirmary.
“Epicenter” Investigation
During the investigation, you’ll be asked:
“What location is 165 selge east and 228 selge south of Zeiss?”
Select “Elmo Village.”
This is the 3rd option and awards +2 BP.
Guest Gone Missing
This quest becomes available after finishing Chapter 2, and you need to complete it in Zeiss before leaving for Grancel.
The quest takes place in the sealed-off section of Kaldia Tunnel, which is filled with Pengus from the first game. This is also where you’ll find the last group of enemies needed to complete your Monster Guide.
Chapter 3 – Grancel Quests
Lost Child at Erbe Royal Villa
While exploring the different areas of the villa, search under the desk next to Raymond. You’ll receive +3 BP for finding the hidden location.
Later, you’ll be asked:
“Did Renne come to Liberl by land?”
Choose “That can’t be right.” (2nd option, +2 BP)
The “Tea Party”
When you’re at the top of Gurune Gate with Kevin, you’ll be asked about the situation.
Select:
“We’ve been lured into a deadly trap.”
This is the 2nd option and awards +3 BP.
Exhibit Enigma
The Phantom Thief B quests generally require you to search the locations marked on your minimap. I won’t go through every search location here, but keep in mind that this quest includes a boss fight at the end.
Prepare your party before reaching the final encounter.
Piscine Pilferer and Kirsche Avenue Monster
These two quests become available after defeating the main boss of Chapter 3 but before leaving Grancel.
Make sure you complete them before departing, as they won’t appear at the beginning of the chapter.
Chapter 4 – Rolent Quests
Monster Quests
You have quite a bit of flexibility when completing the monster quests in this chapter. They remain available for a good portion of the chapter, so you can wait until your characters have stronger equipment and resources.
Betrothal Band Bandit
The crow carrying the ring can be found on a pillar at the top of Esmelas Tower.
One interesting detail is that you can actually find the ring before speaking to the questgiver. This means you can complete the quest immediately after accepting it if you’ve already collected the item.
Find That Feline
This quest has a very short window of availability, so I recommend completing it as soon as it appears.
The task is straightforward. You’ll need to travel between the airship crew and the Abend Bar until you receive permission to board the airship.
The cat is located on the lowest deck of the airship.
Investigation of Coma Cases
This investigation has two important dialogue choices.
Question 1: “What do all four testimonies have in common?”
- Select “The lack of witnesses.” (2nd option)
Question 2: “What happened where the woman in black was seen?”
- Select “Luke fell asleep.” (3rd option)
Each correct answer gives +3 BP, for a total of +6 BP.
Choosing the 3rd option for the first question gives you a reduced +1 BP, so make sure you pick the correct answer.
Fishing Spot Scout
You’ll need to catch at least one fish at all seven fishing locations around the Rolent area.
Here are the locations to visit:
- The pond near the Bright Family House.
- The fishing spot by the bridge on Elize Highway.
- The hidden cave on Malga Trail.
- The pond on Milch Main Road.
- The fishing spot to the left of Verte Bridge Checkpoint.
- Rolent Sewers, accessed through a grate in the ground just south of the church.
- The pond near where you fought the Chapter 4 boss.
The final fishing spot can only be accessed after defeating the Chapter 4 boss, but you must complete it before leaving for Bose.
In the Rolent Sewers, you’ll notice a ??? fish that you cannot catch at this stage. You need the next level of fishing rod, which you’ll receive as a reward for completing this quest.
Visit all seven locations and show that you’ve caught fish from each one to receive +2 BP.
Pursuit of the “Woman in Black”
The game gives you hints on how to handle this quest. If you get stuck in the investigation loop, the characters will eventually explain what you should look for.
Try to finish the quest without failing too many times to receive +3 BP.
Recipe Reminiscence
This quest is only available after finishing Chapter 4 and before leaving for Bose.
The green marker isn’t visible on the minimap, but you can find the three quest icons at the following locations:
- Maggy: 2nd floor of the Private Residence – Apartment, just west of Abend Bar.
- Stella: 2nd floor of Elger Arms & Guards.
- Bloom: 2nd floor of Rinon’s General Goods.
After speaking with these characters, visit Rhett in the same apartment building as Maggy.
Most of the ingredients can be purchased from Rinon’s General Goods. If you need Monster Bones, the Dirty Rats in Rolent Sewer are an easy source. You can fight them while working on the quest.
Dabbling With Diaset
Check your Monster Guide if you don’t have enough of the five required monster ingredients.
The Pearlglass can be obtained through fishing at the Elize Highway fishing spot. Depending on your fishing rod and bait, you can use the following combinations:
- Progress Rod + Earthworm
- Bamboo Fishing Rod + Dumplings
- Bamboo Fishing Rod + Pond Snails
This is one of the more amusing quests in the series, so take your time with it.
Commission Caper
This is another Phantom Thief B quest that includes a boss fight at the end.
Make sure you’re prepared before starting the final encounter.
Chapter 5 – Bose Quests
Extermination of Monsters
After completing the third required monster quest battle, Estelle will comment that the enemies seemed unusual.
When asked what seemed off, choose:
“They seemed scared.”
This is the 2nd option and gives +3 BP.
Later, when dealing with the building collapse, you’ll be asked how to proceed.
Select:
“Make a plan first.”
This is the 2nd option and awards +3 BP.
Delicacy Delivery
Speak to Orvid, who is located just south of Bose Market. He’ll give you seven of each ingredient you need from the ten required ingredients.
If you’ve been fighting monsters and filling out your Monster Guide, you should already have a good selection of the remaining items.
If you’re missing ingredients, fight monsters along the three paths branching out from Bose. Check your Monster Guide to find out which enemies drop the ingredients you need.
You can also equip Agate with the Serendipity quartz to increase your drop rate. If you’ve been following the guide and completing quests, you should already have access to it, as it is found in the Rewards tab and requires 25 completed quests.
Using Wild Rage and Agate’s S-Craft can help you clear enemies more quickly while searching for the ingredients.
Collect a total of ten of all eight ingredients to receive +2 BP.
Damsel Disappearance
During the quest, you’ll be asked to choose a response.
Select:
“Call Felicity a coward.”
This is the 2nd option and gives +1 BP.
Businesswoman’s Bodyguard
This quest becomes available after finishing Chapter 5 and before the story events at Valleria.
You need to reach Ravennue in under 10 minutes to receive +2 BP.
There is a boss fight along the way, so I recommend resting at the hotel before starting. This will help you begin with full HP, EP, and CP.
Distant Days
After initiating the quest, search the residence building directly west of Bose Market to progress the objective.
Mine Mop Up
Although the questbook says to “exterminate all of the monsters,” you only need to defeat the Vogel 560 and Vogel 225 enemies.
You can ignore enemies such as the Millipede Balls and Murder Crabs that appeared in the area during your previous visit.
Chapter 6 – Laboratory and Glorious Quests
Preparation Before the Chapter
Before starting the event at the Inn at Valleria Shore, I recommend stocking up on several ingredients. These will be especially helpful for an optional battle later in the chapter.
Try to have the following quantities:
|
Ingredient
|
Recommended Amount
|
| — | — |
|
Red Pepper
|
At least 20
|
|
Dragon Beans
|
At least 12
|
|
Marbled Tenderloin

|
|
Acerbic Tomato
|
At least 12
|
|
Monster Fang
|
At least 12
|
|
Monster Tender

At least 12
|
Having these ingredients ready will make the optional fight on the Glorious easier to prepare for.
Research Facility Infiltration
This quest includes a difficult optional battle on the Glorious.
Once you reach the deck, you’ll encounter a forced fight against five Enhanced Jaegers. Make sure you save your game before the red marker, as the battle can be challenging.
The five enemies all have Rage Boost, which cancels status effects once activated. Because you’re fighting five enemies at once, it can be difficult to control the battle.
If you survive long enough, you’ll receive +2 BP. However, winning the fight awards +5 BP, making it worth attempting if you’re aiming for maximum BP.
How to Prepare for the Enhanced Jaeger Battle
I managed to win this fight on Nightmare difficulty with a little luck and preparation. Your exact equipment and quartz setup may differ, but the following approach can help.
I focused on maximizing Estelle’s STR and SPD by equipping strong STR quartz and making sure her equipment was as powerful as possible. I also had Estelle’s HP below 20% while equipping Lone Blade to increase her damage.
The main goal is to maximize damage while avoiding status effects and keeping the fight under control.
I used a Tempest Soup just before the battle to enter with a STR bonus for the first two turns. Tempest Soup is the peculiar dish made from Sea Breeze Soup, one of the earliest recipes you can obtain.
Lone Blade is particularly important for this setup, although you don’t necessarily need the exact same quartz combination.
Draconic Meatballs Strategy
Near the room where Estelle starts on the Glorious, you’ll find a treasure chest containing Spicy Meatballs. Consume the item to learn the recipe.
Even though Agate isn’t available in your current party, you can still have him cook his specialty food with this recipe. The result is Draconic Meatballs.
These meatballs are extremely useful in the Enhanced Jaeger battle.
At the beginning of the fight, line up your shot so that it hits all five enemies. Draconic Meatballs can inflict burn and seal, which means the enemies can be unable to act for a turn while taking burn damage equal to 10% of their maximum health.
This can give you enough time to reduce the number of enemies without being overwhelmed.
Sedative Cookies and Pom Pom Cookies can also help if you’ve unlocked their recipes. However, their area of effect is smaller, and their usefulness depends on your available recipes and setup.
Once the burn and seal effects are active, allow the damage to tick down. This can kill the Sword and Gun Jaegers outright or bring them close to defeat.
You can also use an S-Craft or Comet for additional damage when necessary.
Make sure you have enough SP to use an S-Craft after the main enemy uses Endure, especially if Estelle’s HP is running low. You may also use some of the Zerams you’ve saved for instant CP restoration.
After you’ve reduced the number of Jaegers, the Lone Blade damage bonus becomes less important, and the fight should become more manageable.
Sylphen Wing and Gaia Shield can also help, but the Jaegers can overwhelm you quickly. Their Rage Boost may allow them to bypass your Foresight evasion buff, so don’t rely entirely on evasion.
Bonus BP:
- Survive the fight long enough: +2 BP
- Win the fight: +5 BP
Chapter 7 – Tetracyclic Towers
There are no bonus BP opportunities to collect in this chapter.
You can focus on progressing through the story and completing the remaining objectives.
Chapter 8 – Across Liberl Quests
Monster Quests and Zero Field Generators
Most of the remaining quests in Chapter 8 are Monster Quests. As you travel around Liberl, you’ll be installing Zero Field Generators (ZFGs) at each guild.
I recommend completing as many monster quests as possible before reaching each guild. Once you lose the ZFGs, your characters’ Arts will be disabled, making some fights more difficult.
If you encounter groups of monsters while travelling, defeat them along the way. These enemies can still count toward your monster quest progress, even if you haven’t initiated the quest at the guild yet.
Miner’s Mayday
This quest cannot be triggered until you’ve repaired the communicator at Rolent’s guild branch.
I recommend making Rolent the first communicator you repair so you can start this quest without any unnecessary backtracking.
Lugran’s Lifeline
To begin this quest, travel to Ravennue and watch the optional event. Afterward, return to the Bose Bracer Guild.
When asked where you should check for Lugran’s medicine, choose:
“Calvard Embassy.”
This is the 3rd option and gives +1 BP.
Hot Spring Salvation
This quest becomes available relatively late in Chapter 8.
When starting it, make sure to bring Tita with you into the pump room. This is required to get the quest moving.
Checking Your Quest Progress
When you’ve completed the available quests, you should see 86/87 quests in your rewards.
The final quest becomes available after using the guild communicators following the installation of each ZFG. The game will warn you that you won’t be able to fully travel around Liberl anymore.
If you’ve completed everything and reached maximum BP, congratulations on becoming an A Rank Bracer!
