Racer Styles are one of the most important parts of Star Wars: Galactic Racer because they let you build your racer around a specific playstyle. Some styles focus on speed, some on surviving crashes, while others are all about attacking opponents or making better use of your abilities.
When you first start playing, you won’t have access to every Racer Style. You unlock them by naturally playing the game and performing certain actions, such as using the Ramjet, activating abilities, winning Tour events, or taking down other racers.
In this guide, I’ll go through every Racer Style in Star Wars: Galactic Racer, explain how to unlock each one, and tell you what you need to do to level them up. I’ll also explain what each style is actually good for so you can pick one that matches the way you like to race.
Star Wars Galactic Racer Best Racer Styles Guide & Tier List
Racer Styles give your racer permanent traits and abilities that affect how you play. Each style has its own specialty, so choosing the right one can make a big difference during a Tour.
To level up a Racer Style, you need to equip it at the beginning of a Galactic Tour and keep racing with it. In general, it takes around 2–3 full Tours to fully level up a style, although the amount of XP you receive depends on your race position, podium finishes, and how often you perform actions related to that particular style.
In Multiplayer, Scenarios, and Arcade, Racer Styles may already be unlocked or predetermined depending on the event.
Survivor
The Survivor style is the starting Racer Style in the campaign.
How to Unlock Survivor

Survivor Abilities and Bonuses
Survivor is all about staying protected and keeping your race going for as long as possible.
Its base trait, Protected, gives you the Shield ability at the start of a race. You also get access to the Mint Condition part without having to equip it.
Mint Condition gives you a major increase to your base speed, but you lose the bonus after your first crash.
At higher ranks, Survivor gets:
- Mint Condition II: Considerably increases speed and lasts through two crashes instead of one.
- Power To Thrusters: When your Shielded status is lost, you gain Surging for 10 seconds.
Tenacious
Tenacious is a good choice if you expect to crash or race in dangerous situations.

Tenacious Rank 3
Complete 16 Tour Events.
Tenacious Abilities and Bonuses
Tenacious gives you the Autopilot ability at the beginning of every race and also lets you survive one additional crash.
Its higher-rank bonuses include:
- Bounce Back: After resetting from a crash, gain Surging for 15 seconds.
- Keep Your Cool: While you’re in 9th place or lower, gain Cooled.
This makes Tenacious particularly useful if you’re still learning the tracks or frequently find yourself getting involved in crashes.

At Rank 3, you unlock:
- Early Warning II: Increases the Redlining Zone by another 100%.
If you enjoy constantly pushing your Ramjet toward its maximum power, this is one of the styles you should look at.

Brawler is the Racer Style for players who want to take out their opponents instead of simply racing past them.

Brawler Rank 2
Achieve 24 takedowns.
Brawler Abilities and Bonuses
Brawler’s progression is based around taking down other racers. This can include sideswipes, direct rams, and other ways of destroying opposing vehicles.
The style gives you the Ion Bolt ability at the beginning of every race.
You also recover one energy whenever you perform a Takedown, allowing you to keep using your abilities as you eliminate opponents.
Ramjet Rider
Ramjet Rider is another style focused on the Ramjet, but instead of simply making Redlining stronger, it focuses on getting more consistent use from the Ramjet.
How to Unlock Ramjet Rider
Use the Ramjet for 950 seconds.
Ramjet Rider Rank 2
Use the Ramjet for 460 seconds.
Ramjet Rider Abilities and Bonuses
Ramjet Rider gives you Exhaust, allowing you to start races with the Vent ability.
It also has Optimal Heatsinks, which makes the Cooled effect more powerful.
The style is particularly useful if you want to manage Ramjet heat and get more consistent performance from your boost.
Tech Expert
Tech Expert is built around getting more value from your abilities.

Activate 80 abilities in races.
Tech Expert Rank 2

Tech Expert Abilities and Bonuses

This style becomes increasingly useful as you progress through harder Tours and encounter tougher opponents.

As the name suggests, Afterburner focuses heavily on your Afterburner boost.
How to Unlock Afterburner
Win 35 events in the Galactic Tour campaign.
Afterburner Rank 2
Win 8 Tour events while using the style.
Afterburner Abilities and Bonuses
The style comes with:
- Afterburner Superiority
- Afterburner Fuel Tank
These bonuses make your Afterburner more powerful and allow it to last longer.
If your main goal is maintaining high speed and getting more from your boost, this is a straightforward style to use.
Stunt Runner
Stunt Runner is built around jumps, ramps, and spending time in the air.
How to Unlock Stunt Runner
Spend 240 seconds airborne.
Stunt Runner Rank 2
Spend 25 seconds airborne while using the style.
Stunt Runner Abilities and Bonuses
Stunt Runner gives you:
- Center of Attention
- Repulsor Fuel Link
Center of Attention lets you start with the Vectored Shockwave ability.
Repulsor Fuel Link is particularly useful when performing jumps because Perfect Landings completely refill your Afterburner tank and increase its power by 100% the next time you use it.
Engineer
Engineer focuses on dealing with negative effects and problems affecting your vehicle.
How to Unlock Engineer
Activate 100 abilities in races.
Engineer Rank 2
Activate abilities 20 times while using the style.
Engineer Abilities and Bonuses
Engineer gives you the Status Scrubber ability at the beginning of each race.
It also has What Doesn’t Kill You. When you clear a System Malfunction, you gain Surging for 10 seconds, giving you a speed boost.
This can become especially useful during later parts of the Galactic Tour when hazards and negative effects become more common.
Firebug
Firebug is focused on short bursts of extreme speed and works particularly well with the Ramjet.
How to Unlock Firebug
Perform 48 takedowns on other racers.
Firebug Rank 2
Achieve 24 takedowns while using the style.
Firebug Abilities and Bonuses
Firebug has Heat Recycler, which makes your Afterburner and Ramjet significantly more powerful while you’re Burning.
It also has Afterfire, which gives you Burning for 5 seconds whenever you activate the Ramjet.
The downside is that your Ramjet boost is shorter, so you need to make those bursts count.
Slipstreamer
Slipstreamer is designed around using other racers to your advantage.
How to Unlock Slipstreamer
Win 40 events in the Galactic Tour campaign.
Slipstreamer Rank 2
Win 8 Tour events while using the style.
Slipstreamer Abilities and Bonuses
Slipstreamer starts each race with the Surge ability.
It also has Stronger Slipstreaming, making your slipstreaming more effective.
If you like following opponents before overtaking them and using their speed to your advantage, this style fits that playstyle well.
Ice Cold
Ice Cold is an advanced Racer Style designed around the Frozen status effect.
How to Unlock Ice Cold
Activate 160 abilities in races.
Ice Cold Rank 2
Activate abilities 20 times while using the style.
Ice Cold Abilities and Bonuses
Ice Cold gives you the Supercooled Vent ability at the beginning of each race.
It also comes with Absolute Zero. When you’re Frozen, your Ramjet doesn’t gain heat.
This makes Ice Cold particularly useful on icy planets and tracks where the Frozen effect is common.
Clean Racer
Clean Racer is another advanced Racer Style, but instead of encouraging aggressive play, it focuses on avoiding combat.
How to Unlock Clean Racer
Win 60 Galactic Tour events in the campaign.
Clean Racer Playstyle
The main focus of Clean Racer is non-combative racing.
Instead of constantly attacking other racers, you want to stay out of trouble, avoid unnecessary fights, and concentrate on completing the race cleanly.
Weaponized
Weaponized is likely to be one of the final Racer Styles you’ll unlock because it requires you to complete the campaign and become the Galactic League champion.
How to Unlock Weaponized
Become the Galactic League champion and complete the campaign by defeating Kestar Bool.
Weaponized Rank 2
Achieve 24 takedowns while using the style.
Weaponized Abilities and Bonuses
Weaponized is completely focused on attacking other racers.
You start each race with the Ion Bolt ability and gain access to Energy Leech.
Energy Leech lets you recover one energy after hitting two opponents with abilities.
This makes Weaponized a strong choice if you want to play aggressively and constantly pressure the other racers.
Which Racer Style Should You Use?
Each Racer Style is built around a different way of racing, so there isn’t one style that you have to use for everything.
If you want defense and protection, Survivor and Tenacious are good choices. If you like Ramjet-focused racing, Redliner and Ramjet Rider are more suitable.
For aggressive players, Brawler, Firebug, and Weaponized focus heavily on attacking and taking down opponents. If you prefer abilities and status effects, Tech Expert, Engineer, and Ice Cold are better suited to that playstyle.
For players who mainly care about speed, Afterburner and Slipstreamer are worth trying, while Stunt Runner is the obvious choice if you enjoy using jumps and ramps.
The best approach is to experiment with different styles and then stick with the one that matches how you naturally race.
