If you have started getting deeper into Scapewatch: Idle MMO, you will eventually come across Raids and Gauntlets. These are some of the best activities to start working toward once your character has developed a decent set of skills.
The important thing is that Raids and Gauntlets are not really the same thing. Raids are mainly focused on combat upgrades, while Gauntlets are built around your skilling progression. So, before jumping into either one, you want to make sure your character has the right requirements.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through the requirements for both activities, how to enter them, what you can earn, and which skills I recommend having before you start grinding them in Scapewatch: Idle MMO.
Scapewatch Idle MMO Raid and Gauntlet Guide
To open the Raid menu, press the Equals (=) key, or find the skull-like NPC/icon used to access the Raid interface.
Once you open the menu, you will see available lobbies that you can join.
When you’re starting out, the first Raid you want to focus on is the Feeble Raid.
Feeble Raid Requirement
The main requirement for entering Feeble Raids is:
- 10 Slay
So, before you worry about Raids, start working on your Slay skill and get it to at least 10.
Once you reach 10 Slay, you can begin joining Feeble Raids.
Skills You Should Have Before Raiding
Just because you have the required 10 Slay doesn’t mean you’re necessarily ready to contribute properly to a Raid.
I recommend getting your combat-related skills somewhere around 20, depending on your character and weapon setup.
You don’t necessarily need every combat skill at 20 immediately. Having some of your important combat skills around this level is a good starting point.
Accuracy and weapon power are especially important because your different combat skills affect how effectively you can deal damage.
A simple early target is:
- 10 Slay
- Around 20 in your important combat skills
- Keep your combat stats reasonably balanced
You can start Raiding once you have the basic requirements, but stronger combat skills will make it much easier to contribute.
Choosing Your Raid Loadout
After joining a Raid lobby, you’ll be able to select the weapon and loadout you want to use.
You can choose between your different combat setups, including:
- Melee
- Ranged
- Magic
For example, if you’re playing a Magic-focused character, you can select your Magic loadout and choose the weapon you want to use.
Make sure you check your loadout before entering so you’re actually using the weapon and equipment you intended to bring.
Once the current Raid finishes, players waiting in the lobby can be automatically teleported into the next Raid.
How Raids Work
A normal Feeble Raid consists of five waves.
You and your team fight through the waves of enemies, and after completing the Raid, the activity refreshes so you can run it again.
If you die during the Raid, you will come back and continue rather than simply losing the entire run.
This makes Raids very suitable for repeated farming once you have a team and a character capable of contributing consistently.
You Need 5% Contribution for Drops
One of the most important things to understand before grinding Raids is the contribution requirement.
You need at least 5% contribution in the Raid to receive drops.
If your contribution is below 5%, you won’t receive the Raid rewards.
So don’t simply join a Raid and expect to get loot automatically. You need to actually contribute enough to the run.
Raids Do Not Give Experience
Another important point is that Raids do not give you normal experience.
The purpose of Raids is primarily to obtain their special drops and combat-related upgrades.
This is intentional because giving normal experience on top of the Raid rewards would make them extremely powerful for progression.
So if your goal is leveling skills, don’t rely on Raids for XP. Use them primarily to farm their unique rewards.
Raid Rewards
Raids contain several different rewards.
Some rewards are connected to achievements or completion milestones, while others have a chance to drop from successful Raid completions.
Some of the special rewards provide additional experience bonuses for particular skills.
These work similarly to other XP-boosting equipment in Scapewatch: Idle MMO, giving you extra benefits while training.
Enchanted Medallion
One of the most useful Raid rewards is the Enchanted Medallion.
It provides:
- +2.5% XP to all skills
The Enchanted Medallion is especially valuable because the bonus applies broadly rather than being restricted to a single skill.
It is also a Raid-exclusive reward and requires the 5% contribution requirement to obtain Raid drops.
If you’re planning on doing a lot of Raids, this is one of the rewards you’ll definitely want to keep an eye out for.
Whetstone
Another useful item is the Whetstone.
The Whetstone can be crafted through the Smithing menu and acts as a type of melee ammunition/equipment bonus.
Once you obtain one, equip it in your melee slot.
The important part is that you don’t continuously consume the Whetstone like normal ammunition.
Instead, it stays equipped and provides a base bonus to your melee-related attacks.
If you’re playing a melee character, the Whetstone can therefore be a very useful permanent upgrade.
Chaos Raids
After you’ve spent some time completing normal Raids, you can eventually unlock Chaos Raids.
Chaos Raids are different from standard Raids because they work more like an endless mode.
Instead of simply completing a fixed set of easy waves, you try to progress as far as possible while the enemies become increasingly difficult.
You can eventually encounter enemies from higher difficulty levels, including:
- Feeble
- Dire
- Savage
- Fell
- Higher tiers
The further you progress, the stronger the enemies become.
How to Unlock Chaos Raids
To unlock Chaos Raids, you need to obtain the Feeble Dungeon Tablet.
The main requirement is:
- Complete the Feeble Dungeon 100 times
Once you have completed the required number of Feeble runs, Chaos becomes available.
This gives you a long-term reason to keep running the lower-tier Raid before moving into the more difficult content.
Slay Requirements for Raid Tiers
Your Slay level also determines the difficulty tiers you can work toward.
The progression is:
- 10 Slay: Feeble
- 30 Slay: Dire
- 50 Slay: Savage
- 70 Slay: Fell
- 80 Slay: Ancient
So if you’re still early in the game, don’t worry about jumping straight into the higher tiers.
Start with Feeble, improve your combat skills and equipment, and gradually work your way upward.
Higher Slay and Better Loot
There is also a Slay tier around 75 Slay that gives you the opportunity to encounter mobs from lower tiers while providing improved loot opportunities.
The major benefit is that you can get double loot rolls, giving you more chances to obtain rewards.
This becomes increasingly valuable once you’re farming specific drops rather than simply trying to unlock Raids for the first time.
What Are Gauntlets?
If Raids are mainly for combat, Gauntlets are primarily for skilling.
Gauntlets are designed around your general skills rather than your combat setup.
You can access them through the Gauntlet section of the same general activity interface.
Instead of simply fighting waves like a normal Raid, Gauntlets work more like a tower-defense-style activity where you and your team work together for an extended period.
Gauntlet Requirements
For Gauntlets, I recommend having around 20–30 levels in your relevant skill pairs.
Some useful combinations include:
- Mining + Smithing
- Foraging + Crafting
You will also want to develop another useful pair or role depending on what your team needs.
The important thing is to have a balanced team rather than having everyone focus on exactly the same skills.
Play Gauntlets With a Full Team
Gauntlets can take a long time.
Because of that, I strongly recommend trying to run them with around five players whenever possible.
A good group allows everyone to contribute to different parts of the activity while giving you a better chance of reaching the rewards you’re looking for.
You may spend a significant amount of time in a Gauntlet, so getting a reliable team together before starting is worthwhile.
Gauntlet Rewards
Gauntlets provide several different types of rewards.
Some rewards come from completing specific distances or objectives, while others are obtained by progressing further through the Gauntlet.
These rewards can provide powerful improvements to your general gameplay.
For example, some bonuses can give you:
- Extra XP
- Faster actions
- Faster task completion
- Increased movement speed
- Better healing
- Improved material efficiency
- Additional inventory space
- Better success rates
This is why Gauntlets can become extremely valuable once your character is ready for them.
Gauntlet Reward Tiers
Some of the stronger Gauntlet rewards are divided into multiple tiers.
You generally start by unlocking Tier 1, then progress toward:
- Tier 1
- Tier 2
- Tier 3
- Tier 4
As you progress further through the waves, you can get better opportunities to unlock higher-tier rewards.
This gives you another reason to keep pushing deeper into Gauntlets rather than stopping as soon as you’ve obtained the basic rewards.
XP Bonuses
Some Gauntlet rewards provide additional XP across your skills.
Even a small percentage bonus can become significant over time because it applies across many of your activities.
If you’re already spending a lot of time skilling, these bonuses can make your long-term progression noticeably faster.
Faster Actions
Some Gauntlet rewards reduce the time required to perform activities.
This can affect how quickly your tasks and actions are completed.
The faster your actions become, the more efficient your overall progression is, especially when you’re repeatedly training skills for long periods.
Healing Bonuses
Some rewards can also improve the effectiveness of your healing items.
For example, a basic Shrimp provides a base amount of healing, while a healing-related Gauntlet bonus can increase the amount you recover from it.
This may not seem huge at first, but bonuses like this become more useful as you continue improving your character.
Haste Beacon
The Haste Beacon is another useful Gauntlet reward.
Its purpose is to make your actions happen faster.
If you’re comparing it with slower utility-focused bonuses, Haste Beacon can be particularly valuable because speed directly affects how quickly you can complete activities.
Satchel and Inventory Space
One of the most useful Gauntlet rewards is the Satchel.
The Satchel provides additional inventory slots.
Having more inventory space means you can stay at a resource node for longer before needing to return to your bank.
For gathering activities like Mining or Foraging, this can save a surprising amount of time because you’re spending less time walking back and forth.
More inventory space essentially lets you stay productive for longer.
Other Gauntlet Bonuses
There are several other bonuses that can improve your character, including:
- XP bonuses
- Movement speed
- Action success rate
- Material-saving chances
- Extra materials
- Additional Barter rerolls
- Faster actions
Not every reward will be equally important for every player, but many of the higher-tier upgrades can have a noticeable impact on your overall progression.
Recommended Stats Before Starting
As a simple rule, I would aim for around 20–30 in your general skills before seriously grinding Gauntlets.
For Raids, aim for:
- 10 Slay
- Around 20 in important combat skills
- Keep your combat stats relatively balanced
You don’t need a perfectly optimized character before starting.
The goal is simply to avoid entering with extremely low stats and struggling to contribute.
Keep Combat Skills Balanced
Accuracy and your weapon-related skills are especially important for Raids.
Rather than pushing one combat stat extremely high while ignoring everything else, try to keep your important combat skills within roughly five levels of one another when possible.
For example, if one important skill is around 20, having your other relevant skills somewhere around 15–20 is a reasonable early target.
You can specialize more later as your equipment and build become stronger.
Raid vs. Gauntlet
The easiest way to remember the difference is:
Raids
- Mainly focused on combat
- Require Slay
- Start with Feeble at 10 Slay
- Require at least 5% contribution for drops
- Do not provide normal XP
- Provide combat-related upgrades
- Can eventually progress into Chaos Raids
Gauntlets
- Mainly focused on skilling
- Work as a tower-defense-style activity
- Benefit from a full team
- Around 20–30 relevant skill levels is a good target
- Provide powerful skilling bonuses
- Include multiple reward tiers
- Can improve XP, speed, healing, inventory, materials, and more
The biggest thing to remember is that Raids and Gauntlets serve different purposes in Scapewatch: Idle MMO.
If you want combat upgrades, focus on Raids. Start with 10 Slay, build your combat skills, and make sure you’re contributing at least 5% so you actually receive the drops.
If you’re looking for skilling upgrades, start preparing for Gauntlets by building your general skills toward the 20–30 range and finding a reliable group.
Don’t worry about optimizing everything immediately. Build a solid foundation, keep your important skills reasonably balanced, and gradually move from Feeble content into the higher tiers. Once you start collecting the special Raid and Gauntlet rewards, your overall progression becomes much smoother.
