Scapewatch Idle MMO Guide and Walkthrough – Quest

If you have just started playing Scapewatch Idle MMO, the game can throw a lot of information at you very quickly. Between tasks, quests, skills, combat, crafting, equipment, weighting, and all the different menus, it is easy to finish the tutorial and still wonder what you are actually supposed to do.

That is exactly why I put this beginner guide together. I’ll walk you through the important systems in Scapewatch: Idle MMO and explain how I personally approach the early game, including which tasks to choose, how rerolls work, how to customize your skills, and how to get started with combat.

You don’t need to master everything immediately. Once you understand how the task system works and how the different skills connect together, the rest of Scapewatch: Idle MMO becomes much easier to understand.

Scapewatch Idle MMO Guide and Walkthrough – Quest

Tasks are the foundation of Scapewatch: Idle MMO.

Your character automatically travels to the location of your active task and performs the required activity. You will usually have several tasks available, allowing you to decide what you want your character to work on next.

When you first start the game, one of your early tasks will introduce you to gathering, such as fishing for raw shrimp.

You will then travel to the required location, complete the task, and continue with the next objective.

While you’re moving around the world, I recommend exploring whenever you have the opportunity. Exploring different areas removes some of the fog of war and makes it easier to understand the world and available locations.

How Quest Tasks Work

One of the most important things to learn early is how to recognize quest tasks.

Some tasks have a small quest icon or book icon next to them.

That icon means the task is part of an active quest.

If you complete that task, you will progress to the next step of the quest.

You can open the quest interface using the 5 hotkey and see the quests you currently have active.

You can also pause quests if you don’t want to work on them immediately.

This is useful because you don’t have to commit yourself to every quest you start.

Why Quests Are Important

I recommend paying attention to quests because they can give you a nice boost while you’re progressing through the game.

When you see a task with the quest icon, check whether it fits naturally into your current route.

If it does, completing it can let you progress without having to go out of your way.

You should also check the requirements of a quest before starting it.

There is no point starting a quest that requires skills far above your current level if you cannot complete the required steps.

Choosing Between Different Tasks

You won’t always get the exact task you want.

When you receive several choices, look at more than just the skill.

The location matters too.

For example, if your character is already in Longhaul and one of the available tasks is also located in Longhaul, that task can be much more convenient than choosing something that sends you across the map.

This is one of the biggest beginner lessons I would give you:

Don’t look only at the task. Look at where the task takes you.

If you can complete several tasks in the same area, your character spends less time walking and more time actually progressing.

How Rerolls Work

Sometimes none of the available tasks are useful.

That’s when rerolls become important.

Rerolling lets you replace the tasks you haven’t selected with new options.

Each reroll costs 5 reroll credits.

You start with a limited number of reroll credits, so I wouldn’t recommend using them every time you see a task you don’t like.

Instead, use rerolls when you can create a much better task chain.

For example, if you already have two tasks in the same location and a third option would let you stay nearby, using a reroll to look for another nearby task can be worthwhile.

On the other hand, constantly rerolling every task can leave you with no credits when you actually need them.

How to Earn More Reroll Credits

The good news is that reroll credits aren’t permanently limited.

Completing a task gives you additional reroll credits.

This means you can gradually rebuild your supply by simply continuing to play.

Discovery Potions can also improve your task rewards and can provide additional reroll credits from completed tasks.

Don’t Waste Your Rerolls

One mistake I would avoid early on is rerolling just because you don’t like the skill.

Instead, look at the entire task lineup.

A task might not be your favorite skill, but if it is located close to your other tasks, it could still be worth taking.

Likewise, a task for your favorite skill might not be worth choosing if it sends you a huge distance away.

Try to think about your whole route, not just one task.

Skill Customization

Once you start earning experience, you’ll gain access to Skill Customization.

This is one of the most important systems in Scapewatch: Idle MMO because it lets you influence which skills appear in your future tasks.

You can adjust the weighting of individual skills using Skill Credits.

Adding weight makes a skill more likely to appear, while reducing its weight makes it less likely.

This means you don’t have to simply accept the game’s random task selection.

You can gradually shape your account around the skills you actually want to train.

How Skill Weighting Works

Let’s say you really want to train Vigor.

You can increase its weighting so that Vigor tasks have a higher chance of appearing.

You can also reduce the weighting of skills you aren’t interested in training right now.

This is particularly useful early in the game because you may not have enough resources to support every processing skill.

Which Skills Should You Focus on Early?

One useful beginner approach is to avoid heavily weighting processing skills before you have enough resources to actually use them.

Skills such as:

  • Crafting
  • Imbuing
  • Brewing
  • Other processing skills

can require materials generated by other skills.

If you don’t have those resources yet, constantly receiving processing tasks can be inefficient.

Instead, you can focus more heavily on gathering skills and other progression systems you can currently support.

Vigor

Vigor is a particularly useful skill because it improves how quickly your character moves around the world.

Higher Vigor means faster movement, which is extremely valuable in a game where your character frequently travels between task locations.

If you want to make your character spend less time walking, Vigor is a skill worth investing in.

You can increase its weighting in Skill Customization if you want to receive Vigor tasks more often.

Adjusting Individual Skill Activities

You can also click on an individual skill inside Skill Customization.

This lets you see the activities and tiers associated with that skill.

For example, early Vigor progression includes activities such as Jumping Jacks.

As you increase the skill level, additional activities can become available.

You can also adjust the weighting of different activities once you have more than one option available.

Task Quantity and Weighting

When looking at a specific activity, you’ll notice that you can influence both its quantity and its weighting.

Increasing the quantity can increase the range of actions you receive when that activity appears.

Increasing the weight makes that particular activity more likely to appear compared with other activities in the same skill.

Early on, you may only have one activity available, so there isn’t much reason to adjust the activity weighting.

As you unlock additional tiers, however, this becomes much more useful.

Alms

Alms works a little differently from many of the other skills.

Instead of receiving normal Alms tasks, you level Alms by donating gold.

You can open the Alms interface and donate gold from your bank to receive Alms XP.

For example, donating gold can directly provide Alms experience.

The reason you want to level Alms is the collection of passive bonuses it provides.

Why Alms Is Important

Alms can unlock useful bonuses as you level it.

These bonuses can include things such as:

  • Ammo savings
  • Food-related bonuses
  • Quest improvements
  • Loot improvements
  • Other passive benefits

Some unlocks can also require an additional item or drop.

For example, an Alms unlock may require you to reach a certain Alms level and obtain a specific monster drop.

So if you see an Alms perk with an additional requirement, don’t assume that simply reaching the required level is enough.

Setting Up Combat Loadouts

Combat becomes much easier once you set up your equipment loadouts.

You can create different loadouts for different attack styles.

For example, you can create a Stab loadout containing your dagger and the appropriate armor pieces.

You can then save that equipment setup so you don’t have to manually equip every item whenever you switch combat styles.

This is especially useful because different enemies have different defenses.

Using Auto Loadout

Auto Loadout can automatically select the appropriate equipment setup for your combat.

You can update your Auto Loadout from the combat interface.

Once configured, the game can automatically use the appropriate loadout whenever you select that combat style.

Personally, I would still pay attention to which loadout you’re assigning to each monster because some enemies are weaker against specific attack types.

Having the correct loadout can make combat much more efficient.

Understanding Combat

Combat in Scapewatch: Idle MMO is tied closely to your other skills.

Before you start fighting stronger monsters, you’ll want:

  • Healing food
  • Appropriate equipment
  • A suitable combat style
  • Enough resources to sustain the fight

Your gathering and processing skills are therefore important even if your main goal is combat.

Getting Food for Combat

One of the nice things about Scapewatch: Idle MMO is that you don’t need to carry food around in a traditional character inventory.

Cooked food can be used directly from your bank.

For example, if you have hundreds of cooked fish stored in your bank, your character can automatically consume them during combat.

This makes preparing for long combat sessions much easier.

You can simply build up a supply of cooked food and let your character use it when necessary.

Starting Slayer Tasks

If you want to begin fighting monsters, look for the Slayer system.

The early Slayer progression starts with lower-level monsters before gradually introducing stronger enemies.

One of the first enemies you may encounter is the Feeble Acid Slime.

Even early enemies can hit surprisingly hard, so I recommend preparing your equipment and food before jumping into combat.

Don’t assume that because an enemy is low level, you can fight it without preparation.

Get Your Equipment Before Fighting

Before taking on combat tasks, I recommend working on the equipment skills that support your chosen combat style.

For example, melee players can work on:

Mining → Smithing

Players interested in ranged combat can work toward:

Forage → Crafting

Magic players can work toward:

Invoke → Imbuing

Having appropriate gear makes early combat much more manageable.

Scrap Resources

Another useful system to understand is Scrap.

You’ll notice Scrap in your bank.

Scrap acts as a replacement when you don’t have the exact resource required for certain tasks.

For example, if a quest requires a specific resource that you don’t currently have, the game may use the corresponding Scrap resource instead.

The downside is that Scrap only gives half of the normal XP, and you don’t receive the actual resource outcome.

So I wouldn’t use Scrap for everything.

However, if you’re trying to complete an important quest step and you’re missing a resource, Scrap can be useful for getting through that step.

Crafting, Smithing, Imbuing and Brewing

You don’t necessarily need to travel to a special location every time you want to process certain materials.

Several processing systems can be accessed directly through the game’s menus.

These include:

  • Smithing
  • Crafting
  • Imbuing
  • Brewing

This is one of the convenient parts of Scapewatch: Idle MMO because you can manage a lot of your progression directly from the interface.

Fighting Specific Monsters

You don’t always have to wait for a Slayer task to fight a particular monster.

The Mob Selection interface lets you select specific enemies.

This is useful when you’re looking for a particular monster drop.

For example, if you need an item from a specific enemy, you can select that monster directly rather than waiting for the correct Slayer task to appear.

This can save you a lot of time when you’re farming for specific materials or drops.

Plan Your Task Routes

One of the biggest things I recommend to new players is learning to plan task routes.

If you have three tasks available and two of them are in the same town, those tasks can be much more valuable together than three individually strong tasks scattered across the map.

Try to keep your character working in the same general area whenever possible.

This reduces travel time and lets you get more actual actions completed.

Keep Quest Steps in Your Queue

When you’re working on a quest, pay special attention to tasks marked with the quest icon.

If you see a quest step that fits into your current route, it can be worth keeping it even if the skill isn’t your preferred one.

Completing quest steps while you’re already nearby is much more efficient than constantly traveling back and forth later.

Don’t Try to Level Everything at Once

There are a lot of skills in Scapewatch: Idle MMO, and it can be tempting to try leveling everything simultaneously.

I wouldn’t recommend doing that early on.

Instead, think about what you actually want to accomplish.

If you’re interested in combat, build the gathering and processing skills that support your chosen combat style.

If you want faster movement and more efficient travel, put more attention into Vigor.

If you’re interested in passive bonuses, work on Alms.

Your Skill Customization lets you shift your priorities whenever you want, so you aren’t permanently locked into one approach.

The biggest thing to understand about Scapewatch: Idle MMO is that you aren’t expected to manually control every action.

The game is built around creating a good task queue, managing your skills, preparing the right resources, and then letting your character work through those tasks.

Once you understand how task selection and weighting work, you can start making much smarter decisions about where your character spends time.

I would especially recommend learning Skill Customization, task rerolling, quest steps, Vigor, Alms, and combat loadouts early. These systems have a big impact on how smoothly the rest of the game feels.

Don’t worry if you don’t understand every system immediately. Start with a few skills, build up your resources, experiment with different task combinations, and gradually adjust your setup as you learn what works for you.

That’s when Scapewatch: Idle MMO really starts to feel like an idle MMO rather than an information overload.
