Welcome to Revolution Idle Lab Setup – Complete Laboratory Guide. The key of lab is to maximise your GP mult gain (infinity>gens> green number) while keeping the common exponent as high as possible.
The GP mult gain is important as it helps maintain a stable income after the initial gain
Common exponent is important as it makes that initial hit gain bigger.
Both are important as the stable income from GP mult is proportional to the initial gain.
No dilation setup
Put all your RP into lab5 and check your GP mult gain
Take some RP away from lab5 and put it into lab6
Repeat step 2 until your GP mult gain peaks
Play around with the values to find the best 5&6 ratio that gets the most GP mult gain for the most common exponent (lab6)
Disclaimer
In some cases the initial taking of points away from lab5 to put into lab6 may reduce GP mult gain. However at some point it should start increasing again and almost reach or surpass what you obtained through all lab5
*this is meant for long runs. Do not measure your score with runs long only a few seconds.
**this is meant for higher lab levels where your gens have the number after e in several thousand. If you are at e1000-2000 use the dilation setup instead
Dilation setup
In dilation all RP into lab5 will most likely get you the highest possible GP mult gain, but your score will suffer. Now the softcap for GP mult is ~e1000 so anything above will start costing significant points. You have to find the point where the cost of the extra GP mult is not so high as to eat up too much of your common exponent and by extension your score. After all, a high% of nothing is still nothing.
Edit: What I mean here is if it costs triple the RP to get an extra e100 then it most probably is not worth it
Edit: (For those using this for dilation) At some point it may be more beneficial to use the normal setup instead. You can see if you are at this point if the mix of 5&6 gives more GP Mult than 5 alone
I have no clue how well this holds when dilation tree upgrades come into play
do not use this in dilation if you cannot reach e1000 in GP mult
When I get additional RP where should i put it?
Common exponent. Either of the 2 upgrades will improve GP mult gain, but only common exponent will up the score itself directly. Though keep in mind you should re-do the setup after you gain a substantial amount of points.
When to re-do the setup?
Considering this setup relies on GP mult gain. Whenever you reach a new SN, gain a substantial amount of RP, or do a substantial amount of any other upgrades that influence either lab or generators.
What are we doing and why
We are maximizing this number right here by using lab5
All while sacrificing as little of common exponent (aka lab 6 upgrade) as possible
What that green number does is boost these
or more particularly how fast they grow
What common exponent (lab 6) does is boost this by a fixed number additively
in the screenshot, the 13e53,271 is what all the colorful multipliers multiply to
so what it all boils down to is
X^a where X is your multiplier and a is your exponent
It is good to note that X increases overtime while by the rate dictated by our green number from the gen tab (refered to as GP mult gain) while a is mostly affected by prestiege and lab6 which makes it almost constant
Now what this means is that as soon as X growth approaches 0 your income stops. Which means we want to maintain a stable growth for X
while keeping a as high as we can
How do we get the right numbers/ratio
How and what to do to find your exact ratio varies by each person and is an equation of their eternity count, exact DU levels, RP count, and SN count
The following steps do not care if you are in dilation or not. What they care is how your GP mult gain acts to RP being put in
We have 2 distinct scenarios
Scenario 1: GP mult gain is highest with all RP in lab5
In this scenario no matter what split of points you put into lab5 and lab6 your GP mult gain is highest with all in lab5. This means you have to do a cost benefit analysis.
Generally in this scenario a small amount of points will get you X GP mult gain but to increase it by a small margin you will need to use several times as many points.
e.g.
lets say you have 2k RP
If it takes 200 RP to get e1000 GP mult gain and 800RP to get e1100 GP mult gain. It may not be beneficial to go for e1100 GP mult gain as it simply costs too much RP
Scenario 2: GP mult gain is highest with RP split between lab5 and lab6 (regardless if its x:1 or 1:x)
In this scenario you found that your GP mult gain is highest when you use some ratio of lab5 or lab6 (it can be 1:1, 1:2, 2:1 or even somehting absurd such as 1:6 or 6:1). This makes your job simple
What you have to do is find your maximum GP mult gain. Once you find what appear to be the maximum. You will take away points from lab5 and put them into lab6 until you start losing signifiant GP mult gain
e.g. (This is a theoretical example not actual numbers)
You found your maximum to be ~e80k with lab5 1000 and lab6 1500.
You will then try lab5 900 and lab6 1600 and let’s say its still ~e80k
so you continue and get to lab5 700 and lab6 1800 which gives you ~e77k (was ~e80k with lab5 800). This is the point where you stop. Go a step back and leave it there
How do i find my GP mult gain maximum?
You have a few options.
You can start with 1:0 ratio note down the GP mult gain number reset lab, and move slowly towards 1:1 and then towards 0:1 if needed
You can also check 1:0 just to see the number, then go from 0:1 and move towards 1:1 then to 1:0 if needed
You should theoretically try both, but just one is usually enough. Only take a few seconds per lab reset to check the GP mult gain do not wait around as the increase in gain after the intial few seconds is almost negligable in most cases.
How do I know I found the maximum?
You will notice it as if you move to far from it the number quickly drops. It is to be noted that if starting with 1:0 and moving to 1:1 some initial drop is expected (unless you have a scenario 1)
