Potato Please: All Achievements and Endings Guide

Potato Please has a variety of achievements for players to collect, primarily by peeling potatoes, upgrading your warehouse, completing specific quests, and exploring different endings. Most achievements come naturally as you progress, but Your Own Executioner is a tricky one—you can miss it without careful decision-making.

It’s possible to snag nearly every achievement in a single playthrough, but you’ll also want to make manual saves toward the end to see all three story endings. Missing this can lead to some extra playtime reloading old saves later.

Before diving deep, ensure you read about the Your Own Executioner achievement ahead of seeing Pavel’s initial letters. Consider what you say carefully, as it directly influences his loyalty throughout the game.

You can typically earn all achievements in a single playthrough. However, to get all three endings, make sure to reload a save just before the finale to unlock them without needing to restart the entire game.

Estimated Completion Time: 4–5 hours
Required Playthroughs: One, with manual save reloads at key points
Missable Achievement: Your Own Executioner

Important: Before you read Pavel’s first letters, go through the Your Own Executioner section. The replies you select will affect his loyalty, which is vital for his fate later in the game.

Be sure to create a manual save when you get to the three levers on the train. You can use that save to discover all three endings without needing to replay full chapters.

All Potato Achievements

The achievements listed below involve peeling a designated number of potatoes. You can use manual peeling or machines—both methods count for nearly all, except those that specify hand peeling.

First Cut

Requirement: Peel your first potato.

Your journey begins here! Just pick up a potato and peel it for the first time. This achievement will automatically unlock as you play through the opening section of the game.

A Thousand Peels

Requirement: Peel 1,000 potatoes.

For this one, just peel a total of 1,000 potatoes, whether by hand or with machines. No need to keep track manually—it’ll register as long as you’re peeling regularly.

Ten Thousand

Requirement: Peel 10,000 potatoes.

Hitting this target means peeling 10,000 potatoes, combining both hand peeling and machine usage. Machines definitely make it easier, and you should naturally hit this goal during your playthrough.

Old School

Old School

Requirement: Peel 500 potatoes by hand.

For this achievement, you must focus on peeling 500 potatoes using only your hands. Machine-peeled potatoes won’t count toward this total.

Using the Muscle Memory skill can make manual peeling go much smoother.

These Hands Were Made for Peeling

Requirement: Peel 1,000 potatoes by hand.

Similar to Old School, but you’ll need to reach 1,000 manually peeled potatoes this time around. Keep chipping away at it whenever there’s spare time, as machine assistance won’t help.

Shift and Automation Achievements

Shift and Automation Achievements

Most of these achievements become available as you make your way through warehouse upgrades and enhancements.

Warmed Up

Requirement: Complete the warm-up shift.

Complete the initial warm-up shift at the start of the game. This is straightforward and part of your regular progression.

Industrial Revolution

Requirement: Let a machine peel potatoes.

Purchase your first peeling machine from the shop, fill it with potatoes, and just wait for it to peel one. You’ll unlock this achievement as soon as a potato is processed.

Fully Automated

Fully Automated

Requirement: Automate the entire warehouse operation.

To achieve this, let the machines run the complete production process while you sit back. Make sure to upgrade to include the Claw Crane and Cableway as well as the potato peeling machines.

Employee of the Month

Requirement: Reach Rank 21.

Keep progressing through your shifts to earn ranks, and seek to reach the maximum level: Rank 21.

The Quota

Requirement: Peel every potato.

Your goal is to complete your quota by processing every single potato in your area—not just reaching a minimum requirement. This usually occurs near the game’s conclusion.

Other Achievements

Some achievements will be unlocked through character interactions, completing small tasks, or venturing outside the warehouse environment.

A Heart of Gold

A few achievements require you to interact with characters, complete small activities, or explore outside the warehouse.

A Heart of Gold

Requirement: Share potatoes with the people of Varenka.

Throughout the game, people in Varenka will send you letters asking for potatoes. You just need to agree to send them some at least once; ongoing contributions aren’t necessary for this achievement.

Good Boy

Good Boy

Requirement: Feed the dog near the warehouse.

Look outside your warehouse to find a dog in need. Give it some food, and the achievement will unlock as soon as you do.

One Last Puff

Requirement: Finish a cigarette.

During a shift, your character might ask for a cigarette. When that happens, take a break, smoke one entirely without stopping, and the achievement will unlock.

No Escape

Requirement: Leave the warehouse area during a shift.

While working, stroll away from the warehouse area in any direction. You’ll hear loudspeaker warnings, but ignore them until you’ve crossed the outer boundary. A cutscene will initiate, and the achievement will unlock.

Unauthorized Passenger

Requirement: Ride the Cableway while holding a potato sack for at least 3 meters.

First, grab the Sack Cableway upgrade at the shop. Then, follow these steps to unlock:

  1. Fill a sack with potatoes.
  2. Place the sack at the Cableway station’s loading point.
  3. Wait for the hook to come and pick it up.
  4. While it’s still low, position yourself underneath the sack.
  5. Press E to grab it.
  6. Hold on while the cableway runs for at least 3 meters.

Once you’ve traveled the required distance, the achievement will unlock.

All Ending Achievements

Warning: This section contains story spoilers.

At the end of your shift, you’ll acquire a key and access a train with three levers leading to different endings.

Before pulling any levers, make a manual save here. Reload this save after each ending to experience all three outcomes without replaying the entire game.

For the Motherland

Requirement: Choose the Northern Front ending.

To unlock this achievement, pull the Northern Front lever inside the train cabin.

At the end of your shift, you’ll find a key and eventually reach a train. Inside the train cabin, you’ll see three levers connected to different destinations.

Each lever leads to a different ending. Before pulling any of them, create a manual save.

Requirement: Choose the Western Industry ending.

For this one, pull the Western Industry lever to achieve the unlock.

The Last Harvest

Requirement: Choose the Varenka ending.

Pull the Varenka lever in the train to unlock this achievement.

Every Path Has a Price

Requirement: See all three endings.

To earn this achievement, you’ll need to view all three endings. Follow this order after loading your manual save:

  1. Pull the Northern Front lever and complete this ending.
  2. Reload your saved game.
  3. Pull the Western Industry lever and finish the ending.
  4. Reload again.
  5. Lastly, pull the Varenka lever.

Seeing all three endings will unlock the Every Path Has a Price achievement.

Your Own Executioner (Missable)

Requirement: Send the train to Varenka while Pavel remains loyal to the state.

This is your only missable achievement in Potato Please. Pavel’s loyalty hinges on your responses to his letters throughout the game.

Your choices impact two factions:

  • Ministry: -1 point
  • Resistance: +1 point

If Pavel’s score exceeds zero, he’ll side with the Resistance, making the achievement unattainable. Follow these guidelines to keep him aligned with the state.

How to Keep Pavel Loyal to the State

1. Send money when Pavel asks for it.

Whenever he requests money in his letters, choose the Send option.

2. Respond correctly to the Director’s Questions.

When you see the letter labeled Director’s Questions, choose:

  • Tell what you know

3. Replies to other letters can be any.

No need to stress over other letters; just keep your focus on the two above to ensure Pavel stays loyal to the Ministry.

4. Hide Resistance notes in potatoes.

While processing, you might discover Resistance notes inside potatoes. Do not report them. You can report one, but more than that will lead to Pavel becoming a hostage, making this achievement impossible.

5. Avoid putting Resistance poison on the carrots.

In preparation for the memorial, don’t apply Resistance poison to carrots. Use it on cucumbers instead, as it counts against Pavel’s loyalty if used on the carrots.

6. Keep from reporting the people of Varenka.

Make sure not to report the residents of Varenka. Stick to these guidelines to maintain Pavel’s loyalty and continue through the story without issue.

How to Check Pavel’s Loyalty

Near the game’s end, verify your choices by checking:

  • Pavel’s last letter: It should mention his schooling near the capital.
  • The last Resistance note: It should not say something like Your son is with us.

These signs confirm Pavel stays loyal. If either indication suggests he’s sided with the Resistance, you’ll need to restart from a previous shift and follow the outlines correctly.

Unlocking Your Own Executioner

Once you’ve ensured Pavel’s loyalty, proceed to the train and pull the Varenka lever. This will direct the train to Varenka while maintaining Pavel’s loyalty, thus unlocking Your Own Executioner.

Don’t put it on the carrots. Pour it away or put it on the cucumbers instead. Putting the poison on the carrots counts as another reported Resistance note.

6. Don’t report the people of Varenka.

Avoid reporting the people of Varenka to the authorities.

Once you’ve followed these instructions, continue the story and check Pavel’s situation before reaching the ending.

How to Check Pavel’s Loyalty

You can check whether your choices worked by looking at two things near the end of the game:

  • Pavel’s last letter: It should mention that he’s going to a school near the capital.
  • The last Resistance note: It should not contain a message saying something like Your son is with us.

These are the signs that Pavel has remained loyal to the state.

If either check indicates that Pavel has joined the Resistance, you won’t be able to fix his loyalty at the final train scene. You’ll need to start a new shift and make the correct choices from the beginning.

Unlocking Your Own Executioner

Once you’ve confirmed Pavel is loyal to the state, reach the train at the end of the game and pull the Varenka lever.

This will send the train to Varenka while Pavel remains loyal to the Ministry, unlocking Your Own Executioner.
