The New Planet Crafter Moons Update is here — and it’s completely free for all players who own the base game! Whether you’re a returning player or just diving into the cosmic chaos, this update changes the planetary game loop in a big way.
Planet Crafter Moons Update Explained – New Locations
What’s New in the Moons Update?
Two Brand New Moons:
Selenia
Aquillis (Z pronounces it “Aquilus”)
You can fully terraform these moons, just like you did with Prime or Humble!
System Terraformation Index:
Progress is now measured across the entire system, not just a single planet.
No Humble DLC? No Problem!
You can still access Selenia and Aquillis — owning Humble is optional for moon access.
How to Access the New Moons
Complete Terraformation on Prime (or Humble)
You must hit the “Terraformation Complete” milestone on either planet.
Build an Extraction Platform & Interplanetary Rocket
This unlocks after full terraformation. It allows interplanetary travel.
Important: The Rocket Is One-Time Use
Bring enough resources to build another extraction platform + rocket at your destination, or risk getting stuck!
Don’t Travel Empty-Handed
Pack essentials like:
- Rover with oxygen module (lifesaver for early exploration)
- Base power (fusion generators, etc.)
- Terraform tools (Tier 5 heaters, plant generators)
- Optional: Interplanetary Exchange Shuttle (lets you request resources from other planets)
Pro Tips for Survival & Exploration
Bring a Rover with Unlimited Oxygen
This makes early survival on moons a lot smoother. Pack it in your inventory and deploy it once landed.
Start Small, But Start Smart
Drop basic infrastructure as soon as you land—think power, oxygen, storage.
Use the Exchange Shuttle (If You Can)
Requires Cosmic Quartz (usually not available on Prime), but it’s worth bringing if available.
Recommended Travel Path
Z recommends this order:
- Start on Prime
- → Go to Selenia (beginner-friendly with solid resources)
- → Then go to Aquillis (less forgiving, fewer starter resources)
🔄 You can also go from Humble to the moons or vice versa — your call.
Can You Start Directly on a Moon?
- You CAN start on Selenia
A harder start, but a fun challenge for experienced players. - You CANNOT start on Aquillis
Not enough early-game resources to support survival from scratch.
Multiplayer Compatibility
All players must be on the same planet.
You can’t split up across worlds — everything off-planet is unloaded in real time.
BUT: Drones, extractors, and terraformation progress continue running in the background on other planets.
This update massively expands the endgame and sandbox freedom in Planet Crafter. With fresh biomes to explore, new progression tied to the whole system, and creative base-building opportunities, the New Moons Update is a must-play if you love terraforming in space.
