If there’s one thing I’ve learned after trying different builds in Pass the Fear, it’s that your weapon often matters more than your relics during the early and mid-game. A great relic can make a good weapon amazing, but if your weapon struggles to clear rooms or deal with bosses, even the best build starts feeling slow.
The nice thing is that Pass the Fear offers plenty of weapon choices. The downside? There are over 40 different weapons, multiple rarity variants, and four elemental types, so figuring out what’s actually worth using can be confusing.
This Pass the Fear Weapon Tier List ranks the current weapons based on overall performance, damage potential, utility, scaling, and how well they perform across different difficulties.

Best Mythic Weapons
The four Dominator weapons are currently among the strongest Mythic weapons in the game, but they each excel in different situations.
War Dominator
Element: Fire
War Dominator is arguably the strongest Fire weapon available.
Its defining mechanic is the Final Shot effect.
Whenever you fire the last bullet in the magazine, that shot:
- Always lands as a Critical Hit.
- Instantly applies Ignition.
- Increases Ignition damage by a massive 666%.
That enormous burn multiplier makes War Dominator incredibly effective against elite enemies and bosses. Since it also has access to Geminate Shot rolls and free bullet procs, it maintains excellent sustained damage despite its small magazine.
Strengths
- Massive Fire damage
- Incredible boss killer
- Powerful burn scaling
- High burst damage
Weaknesses
- Small six-round magazine
- Requires good reload management
Famine Dominator
Element: Physical
Unlike most weapons, Famine Dominator actually becomes stronger as your magazine empties.
The lower your remaining ammo, the higher your Bullet Attack becomes.
Once the magazine drops below half, every shot begins firing powerful Gluttony Bullets that explode for 500% Bullet Attack as area damage.
This makes the weapon surprisingly effective against large groups without sacrificing single-target performance.
Strengths
- Huge AoE damage
- Excellent Physical scaling
- Fast firing speed
- Strong crowd clearing
Weaknesses
- Requires careful ammo management
- Damage spikes only after spending ammunition
Death Dominator
Element: Frost
Death Dominator is easily one of the strongest crowd-control weapons in the game.
Every Final Shot applies Death Mark.
After accumulating four Death Marks—or when an affected enemy dies—a Death Ring explodes, freezing nearby enemies.
Even better, frozen enemies continue spreading Death Marks, creating chain reactions across entire rooms.
Enemies below 10% Health can even be executed instantly.
Strengths
- Outstanding crowd control
- Powerful Freeze synergy
- Chain reactions
- Strong boss utility
Weaknesses
- Small magazine
- Performs best with Frost builds
Best Fire Weapons
Fire remains one of the strongest elements because Ignition deals consistent damage over time.
Top Fire weapons include:
- War Dominator
- Dragon Breath
- Fire Curse
- Fire Crossbow
- Explosive Crossbow
- Ashes
- Ember Spark
- Flare Gun
War Dominator is the clear winner, but Dragon Breath isn’t far behind thanks to its reliable sustained Fire damage.
Best Physical Weapons
Physical builds generally favour high Bullet Damage and Critical Hits.
The strongest Physical weapons are:
- Famine Dominator
- Peacekeeper
- Eagle Eye
- Vintage Musket
- Demonhunter Crossbow
- Air Gun
Marcus players will usually get the most value from these weapons.
Best Frost Weapons
Frost focuses on slowing enemies and creating Freeze chains.
Recommended Frost weapons include:
- Death Dominator
- Ice Shatterer
- Bulwark
- Dark Ice
- Ice Baby
Death Dominator is currently the standout choice thanks to its Death Mark mechanic.
Best Lightning Weapons
Lightning specialises in rapid attacks and chain damage.
Strong options include:
- Railgun
- Overcharged Lightning
- Lightning Gun
- Thunder Spike
- Battery
- Lightning Javelin
Railgun remains one of the highest-damage Lightning weapons available and scales extremely well into late-game content.
Best Acid Weapons
Acid builds rely heavily on Corrosion and damage-over-time effects.
Recommended choices include:
- Godhunter Bow
- Living Frenzy
- Seven Leaves
- Flower Cannon
- Sticky
- Mist
- Scorpion Tail Bone
Godhunter Bow stands out thanks to its excellent scaling and consistent Acid application.
Which Weapon Should Beginners Use?
If you’re still unlocking stronger equipment, these weapons offer excellent value:
- Peacekeeper
- Eagle Eye
- Vintage Musket
- Dragon Breath
- Lightning Gun
They’re easy to use, reliable throughout progression, and don’t require highly specialised relic combinations.
Which Weapon Is the Best Overall?
If I had to recommend just a few weapons for almost any situation, these would be my picks:
War Dominator is the best choice for Fire builds thanks to its devastating Final Shot mechanic and enormous Ignition damage.
Death Dominator excels at controlling entire rooms by chaining Freeze and Death Marks together, making it one of the safest Mythic weapons for difficult content.
Famine Dominator is perfect for Physical builds that want both single-target damage and explosive area attacks without constantly switching weapons.
Outside of the Mythic category, Railgun, Dragon Breath, and Godhunter Bow are among the strongest all-round options and remain competitive well into the late game.
The best weapon in Pass the Fear ultimately depends on your Hunter, relics, and elemental strategy, but Mythic weapons clearly sit at the top of the current meta. War Dominator, Death Dominator, and Famine Dominator each offer unique mechanics that can define an entire build rather than simply increasing your damage.
For newer players, it’s usually better to stick with consistent weapons like Peacekeeper or Eagle Eye until you unlock stronger options. Once the Mythic weapons start dropping, that’s when you can begin experimenting with specialised Fire, Frost, Physical, or Acid builds to get the most out of every run.
