This Mind Over Magic Elements and Races guide is about the perks and cons of Racials and Primary Elements. I had two condense it into two posts. Comments on said elements are below the main post.

Unique Perks:
Human: (Iron Will?) 1 additional Death Save.
Wolfkin: Apex predator. No penalty for sleeping on the floor, and able to eat rat/Croa if you are serving dishes with negative Conviction.
Raven Cult: Doom and Gloom. Permanent -15 Conviction.
The Vivified: Stitched Stomach. Food doesn’t affect Conviction.
The Shattered: Inorganic. Illness Immunity. Also starts with 30(60 during the event) armor in combat.
Fire
The most uses of Fire Magic is for cooking, you need at least Fire 3 to cook most of the dishes. My recommendation is to keep a Fire mage with a High Mana Pool due to the “Fire Lash” ability to deal with the exact amount of mana you have during the turn.
Water
If you manage to get a high-power water mage, you may get a high burst for a low mana cost. However, despite the in-game description making a heavy accent on Alchemy and Cleaning, the high value of said magic is in Medicine. You need Water 5 for the Trauma cure Ritual. Water 3 is the most you need for healing rituals.

Lightning
As much as I want to say Lightning Magic is useful in combat, sadly it is not. Recharge sounds amazing on paper, but in combat it only boosts target’s speed on the NEXT turn of said target. So, say you want to increase speed of an earth mage, you buff them instead of attacking a foe. He will not receive speed buff until after earth mage finishes his turn. But, this doesnt mean Lightning is useless. You may want to have at least 3
Staff members with lv3+ Lightning magic (doesnt have to be primary). Why? Level 3 Lightning Magic can be used to summon Gifted students! They have more magic levels than other students.
One more note about combat is that Lightning 6 has Recharge II which gives any Ally 60 Mana and 60 Speed for the Cost of 30 Mana, this ability alone is worthwhile.
EARTH
IT’S A :guntank: . A TANK. The most important mage here! You put him on the frontline, and cast Earth Armor while your other mages poke everything else! plus they can build, so it’s kinda a thing here. The more skill you have, the faster they build.
Air
must have been the wind
In my opinion, this is the most versatile magic you can set as the main magic for your staff members. At School, they are your delivery guys. In combat, they are your combat supports. Their Haste is much better than recharge in terms of action because you give an additional turn to a target.
DARK
Don’t bother with these until you reach tier 2 wands. But once you have lv4 or lv5 Mage, keep that one. “Quilt” is an action that allows you to sew minions, carry and deliver items, chop trees, mine rocks, and clear your mess. Think of them as more useful students.
NATURE
Comment: Honestly, I forgot to fill this part originally. But the higher the Nature level, the faster your staff and students will gather. You will also be able to harvest rare materials such as Runewood.
