But the key to growing stronger without falling behind isn’t just in earning them—it’s in knowing where to invest them for maximum return.

So, where should you spend your gems?

Let’s break down the priority targets, when to spend, and what to avoid if you don’t want to end up gem-broke with nothing to show for it.

Out of all the flashy buttons asking for gems, only two areas consistently offer value you won’t regret later:

1. Hero Roulette (during the Hall of Governors rotation)
2. VIP Activation & XP (at the right time)

Let’s unpack both.

1. Hero Roulette – Your #1 Priority (Especially for F2P)

Every time the Hall of Governors (HoG) event kicks off, Day 2 launches the Hero Roulette event. This is hands-down the best use of gems in the entire game, especially if you’re Free-to-Play.

Why Hero Roulette Is So Good:

• It gives you guaranteed Mythic Hero shards.
• The featured heroes rotate, covering Archer, Cavalry, and Infantry roles.
• You can build a 4-star (or even 5-star) Mythic hero just by planning your gem usage carefully.

The Smart Way to Play Hero Roulette:

Each spin costs 1,500 gems. The system rewards you at specific spin milestones:

Your goal should be to hit the milestone tiers, not spin randomly. If you’re sitting on a small gem stash, 5 or 15 spins is fine. But if you’re patient and save 50,000+ gems, 35 spins is the sweet spot for best value per gem.

Tip: Always check which hero is featured before committing your gems. If it’s a key march unit or rally hero, go for it. If it’s niche or PvE-only, it might be better to wait.
