Choosing an Infantry hero in Kingshot sounds simple at first, but once you actually start caring about event scores, long-term efficiency, and shard management, it gets messy fast. This choice matters a lot more for F2P, low spenders, and mid spenders, because you cannot afford to spread resources everywhere. Whales can brute-force the problem by maxing everything, but most players do not have that luxury.
This guide breaks down Zoe, Alcar, and the other Infantry heroes in a practical, player-first way, with a heavy focus on Bear Hunt, then zooming out to overall value across PvP and events.
Best Infantry Hero for Bear Hunt (Without Amadeus)
This is easily the most asked question in the Kingshot community, especially for players who missed or skipped Amadeus.
Zoe
Zoe gets recommended constantly, but there is a critical mechanic that many players miss.
Her first damage skill, Sundering Wound, has a one-turn delay. When it procs, the damage actually triggers on the next turn. That sounds fine on paper, but Bear Battles reset all temporary effects at the start of every turn. Because of that reset, Sundering Wound never actually activates.
In real Bear Hunt fights, that skill provides zero value.
Once you account for that, Zoe is effectively left with only her second and third damage skills. That still puts her ahead of heroes like Long Fei and Eric, who only contribute one real damage skill each, but it already lowers her ceiling more than most players realize.
Alcar
Alcar also has two damage skills, but the difference is consistency. His damage effects are permanent and apply immediately, so none of them get wiped by Bear Battle turn resets.
If you test both heroes in the Battle Simulator, Alcar almost always comes out ahead.
There is also a major stat gap that cannot be ignored:
- Zoe: +240% Infantry Attack / Defense
- Alcar: +370% Infantry Attack / Defense
That extra +130% Infantry Attack and Defense comes purely from generation difference, with Zoe being Gen 2 and Alcar being Gen 4.
If you look only at skills, Alcar usually deals around 1–6% more damage than Zoe, depending on how often Zoe’s chance-based third skill procs. Once you factor in stats, that gap grows to roughly 4–9% more total damage for Alcar, even before widget bonuses.
For Gen 4 and Gen 5 Bear Hunts, Alcar is simply the stronger and more reliable Infantry pick.
Who Is Better Outside Bear Hunt?
Once you leave Bear Hunt, the evaluation changes.
PvP, rallies, and competitive events care about everything, not just raw damage. Damage reduction, survivability, and synergy suddenly matter a lot more. This is where Zoe regains some value, because all of her skills finally function as intended.
However, accessibility becomes just as important as performance.
Hero Availability
- Zoe and Long Fei are easier to obtain and upgrade thanks to Hero Roulette. This makes them very attractive early and mid-game for non-whales.
- Alcar performs better in Bear Hunt and scales harder long-term, but he is much more difficult to unlock and star up. Most of his shards come from Hero Rally, Daily Deals, Strongest Governor, and KvK, which slows progress unless you plan carefully.
This creates a real tradeoff. Zoe is not the absolute best, but she is efficient, accessible, and strong enough to carry you through multiple generations if built properly.
Recommended Infantry Progression Path
For most F2P and mid-spending players, the smartest approach is not to tunnel on a single hero too early.
A practical long-term plan looks like this:
Start by building Zoe in Gen 2 to stabilize your Infantry lineup early.
Pick up Petra in Gen 3 to add depth and flexibility.
Add Rosa in Gen 4 for stronger event performance.
While doing all of this, aggressively save general shards instead of spending them impulsively.
Once Alcar becomes available, dump those saved shards into him.
By Gen 4, this gives you a powerful Infantry trio of Petra, Rosa, and Alcar that performs extremely well across almost every major mode, including Swordland Showdown, Tri-Alliance Clash, Alliance Championship, and Bear Hunt.
If you are thinking short-term or need an easy-to-build Infantry hero early, Zoe is still a solid and practical choice. She is not bad, just misunderstood in Bear Hunt specifically.
If you are thinking long-term and want the strongest Infantry performance across events, Alcar is the better investment. His consistent damage, higher stats, and stronger scaling make him the superior Infantry hero once you can realistically build him.
