Want to dominate the battlefield and claim the best respawn zones, loot, and vendors in Gray Zone Warfare? The new 0.3 update introduces Minor and Major COPs (Combat Outposts)—and if you want to stay ahead of your enemies, you need to master both.
This How to Capture Minor & Major COPs in Gray Zone Warfare (Update 0.3) guide breaks down how to secure these locations, what makes them important, and how to maximize your rewards—whether you’re solo or squad-deep.
How to Capture Minor & Major COPs in Gray Zone Warfare (Update 0.3)
What Are Minor COPs?
Minor COPs are small outposts scattered across the map of Lamang. They’re lightly defended by AI (and sometimes players in PvP servers), but don’t let their size fool you—these little strongholds come with big benefits.
Why Capture Minor COPs?
Fast Respawns & Redeploys: They drastically cut down travel time for nearby missions.
Full Access to Stash, Vendors, and Lockers: Top up on food, water, ammo, or armor repairs mid-mission.
Quest Functionality: Turn in or receive quest items directly from the outpost.
Safe Zones: Once captured, friendly AI will spawn to defend it, making it a semi-safe haven.
How to Capture a Minor COP:
Clear the Area – Eliminate AI enemies and any opposing players.
Find the Terminal – Walk up to the control point machine.
Hold the Use Key – Capture the outpost. If successful, friendly reinforcements will spawn in.
Loot everything—especially from enemy corpses—and dump it into your stash for quick money later.
What Are Major COPs?
Major COPs are the big leagues. These are heavily contested outposts with stronger AI presence and often, other players ready to snipe or ambush. They also contain exclusive loot and may even spawn rare vendors.
Why Major COPs Matter:
PMC Gear Boxes – These special containers hold rare gear like:
3+ Armor
Large backpacks (e.g., Rush bags)
Weapons (SVDs, MCXs, etc.)
Weapon Crates – Contain high-tier guns you can’t buy from normal vendors.
Chance to Meet Special Vendor: Vulture
Rotates between two major COPs.
Sells weapons, ammo, attachments, night vision, and gear looted from fallen PMCs.
The inventory reflects what other players were using before they died—crazy immersive, right?
How to Capture a Major COP:
- Expect Resistance – AI + PvP threats. Keep your corners tight, and clear rooftops early.
- Use Grenades Strategically – Flush out enemies above or behind cover.
- Secure the Building – Once all threats are neutralized, approach the terminal.
- ⚠️ If the computer is gray, it’s not ready to be captured (still contested or bugged).
- Capture & Loot Everything – Hit the gear/weapon crates ASAP before others do.
Combat Tips:
- Always check enemy limbs—if they’re hit, they can’t return fire effectively.
- Bring friends. Defending and capturing major COPs solo is extremely risky.
- Look for blue armbands—they identify friendly AI.
Vulture The Exclusive Vendor
Once you capture a Major COP, always check if Vulture is present. He’s not guaranteed, but if he’s there, you’re in for a treat.
What Vulture Offers:
- Weapons from fallen PMCs (including meta builds)
- 60-round mags
- Rare ammo
- Backpacks, optics, NVGs, and more
His inventory rotates depending on what players have recently used and lost in the area, which means you can sometimes find loadouts tailored for high-tier PvP.
